A quirk of this place -- and part of what makes it cool -- is it also doubles as a furniture showroom. Yes, the furniture in the cafe is also for sale. The style is an industrial/vintage look, and has a lot of character. They also have live music in the evenings from time to time. Red rum, not French island rum - I find this like hair oil! The owner is friendly and well informed; he speaks French (naturally) but also English, and some German he said. We were on holiday touring France mostly, doing wine tasting in a range of places. It was my first visit to Switzerland, and I was a little sceptical about Swiss wine but he had some interesting bottles, and can help with advice about Swiss wines and domaines in the area. Vevey is the home of Nestlé but I didn't ask if he could recommend a wine to go with chocolate - I wonder if the Swiss have a better match than Banyuls?!

Parked our car on a parking lot just at the main road on the other side of the railroad tracks (cheap fare). This boardwalk here goes along the beautiful Lake Geneva and offers good views of the Château de Chillon. It's an easy walk, flat and with lots of trees and benches. Great for a picknick with a view. It ends more or less at Villeneuve. It's not the longest walk or the hardest. But for us (with an English Bulldog) it was a perfect little walk. Not that many visitors around as well.
