I chose a pair I liked, and with the sale would fall within my price range. A salesman approached me as I was finishing up trying them on, and kindly pointed out that the sale signs referred only to a specific model of Dakota boots and did not apply to the ones I selected. The signs didn't show a picture of the boots on sale, nor were they located anywhere near the sale boots. I found this to be extremely deceptive on the part of the store, and thanked the salesman for saving me the embarrassment of getting to the cash before discovering the deceit. My rating would be as low as possible, but the helpful staff mitigated my decision. Be very cautious when shopping here. I know I will be, if I return.

It's not very large, but it is the go-to place for footwear, outer wear and camping essentials you may have forgotten to bring with you. You will be very hard pressed to find a $3 rain poncho anywhere else in this tourist town. They tend to carry current trendy items and one year I brought home a pair of gel slippers that were an interesting combination of odd and useful. It's trendy in terms of retail fads rather than fashion. The clothing items are mostly useful basics that have nothing to do with haute couture, apart from the quintessential pieces like your classic rain boots and slickers and the like. I always stop in to see what's around for the current season and almost always come out with the best bargain of the trip. It's a comforting shopping staple in Tobermory.

The owner was incredibly rude when I asked to return an uncomfortable pair of shoes 7 days past their 7 day return policy. I did not have the receipt as it was in another shoe box (which was my fault) but the box and shoes were brand new, as well there was the owners own hand writing on the box. The owner was very aggressive and insisted that I should have called and asked to return the shoes earlier in the week as I purchased them while up at a cottage for the weekend. She has no sympathy to the fact that I do not live in town and therefore could not return the shoes within their tight time period. Considering we purchased 5 pairs of shoes that day (which was only 14 days ago) I was very disappointed with her attitude towards a regular customer and will never be shopping there again.

I was frustrated by my experience at this store recently. I visited because I was given a gift card…read morefor my birthday and had been wanting to purchase Blundstones. I went into the store on a Friday evening and noted there were two staff working. One staff person began helping another customer and the second staff person was at the cash. I stood and looked at the selection of Blundstones for several minutes. Nobody came to help me. Then I walked back and forth in front of the cash and noted the second staff person at the cash was standing there leaning on the counter watching the first staff person help the other customer. She didn't do anything when I walked by so I turned around and said I had questions about the shoes. I asked questions about the colours of the shoes and their styles and felt like the answers I was getting from the staff person were annoying to her, like I was wasting her time. She eventually helped me whittle my choices down and I picked a pair and also picked out mink oil on her recommendation to care for them. After all was said and done, my total came to $276 and after paying with my gift card and my own money to make up the difference, the staff person packaged my purchase and handed it to me saying "there you go". I feel that for any customer who spends money in a store, especially almost $300, the customer should be thanked for coming in. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase but I scored this experience low based on the service experience. Unfortunately, I have seen reviews on Google that corroborate my experience as well.
