She gave me a chupa chups lolli while I layed there luxuriously and chatted with her about anything and everything. She's skilled in most styles, and her portfolio is incredible. She's also incredibly friendly and warm. Perfect Image is a great studio. Very clean and professional- but it's the artists that count. If you want to be tattooed in Banff, I hope you are lucky enough to be tattooed by Natalia!!

While I couldn't get on Derek's list, I settled for a newer artist at Electric Grizzly Tattoo. The plan was a lower forearm tattoo over the course of two days. I sent a deposit, purchased plane tickets, found a petsitter, took time off work, reserved a hotel room and rented a car. After flying in to Calgary and driving to the hotel in Canmore, I was informed that my artist would not be available the next day. I was also informed that I was not entitled to my deposit back. I was not interested in planning another trip to finish the tattoo, that is not what I agreed to. So be careful with your deposits!

So on a whim, my friend and I decided to get tattoos to commemorate our vacation (cheesey? Maybe,…read moredon't hate) while we were visiting Banff. This shop was recommended by a local, and not too far away from where we were. I was skeptical because the website looked like it hadn't been updated in a while and I really couldn't find much info online. Usually for tattoos I do extensive research! To be fair, we had a design picked out and it was some fairly simple line work. We did try to call ahead for an appointment, but didn't have any luck reaching anyone. Crossing our fingers, we went ahead and drove over to the shop to attempt a walk in. There was a sign on the door for walk-ins to call, which we did (immediately answered) and Don came right out to talk to us! The shop itself is full of art, it's clean and orderly without looking too hospital-ish. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and professional. They do have a 160 CAD minimum, FYI! Also, cash only so we (and by we, I mean my friend) had to go try and find an ATM. We each had a small tattoo done (I think the set up time took longer than the actual tattoo). Very pleased with the cleanliness and work. Tattoos are healing perfectly. Also, while waiting for the ATM, Don was recommending some of his favorite places to take visitors (we did hit a couple of them while we were there!) Overall this was a great experience, super great people to work with even for a quick small tattoo. Would highly recommend this shop.
