But to me I am shocked for the reputation that Canmore holds in general as an amazing town and experiences that are Beyond! Or unique - in a good way. This was not that. im blown away they all shower in these showers and use these towels etc and literally don't seem to mind or care. Maybe they can't see because of the relaxing dim lighting. But I could. I didn't even shower there. Wasn't comfortable. This was my first time to a Float location in years. I use to frequent the one in downtown VICTORIA, BC. I definitely don't go somewhere with the intention of not great feedback... but this was hard to ignore and needs to be addressed. Every Float location is different, clearly, just like everyone's home is different. some keep their homes cleaner than others and if that's how they keep the business then unfortunately I cannot recommend. It did not feel as welcoming or relaxing as i thought or envisioned and was very rushed. Not even quiet relaxing music even if it was low at the desk. It was nothing. I came early I thought maybe I'll have a tea check the vibe or what who knows - play it by ear and it was An odd greeting like "why are you here" mentioned my appointment and name and that I was early and it was like here. Start. Bye..... I asked if I could at least use the washroom first?? I'm not a demanding person I suppose I could have said or stated vs being offered... "I am going to have a tea first" but when it's not offered and seems rushed being at the core a people pleaser I just went in as fast as possible because that was what was being shown/delegated. I can listen to meditation music on my phone so that helped a bit. Until I saw .......the towels. Towels honestly are the most bacterial generating forms of fabric in anyones home. Even When people think they are clean, if not washed and dried properly they can still be dirty. This is not new news. If times are hard I get maybe it's expensive to buy. But I tell you now if you invest in little things that make a larger impact maybe it would generate more business. Because these towels looked worse than a sports locker room or college dorm. With one girls mascara and foundation on one. I am sensitive to make up and scents so I don't wear any so it was not mine. Nothing in my face the towels were so thin and grey from dirt. These towels are naturally to be white. I had a feeling about the shower once I saw this and turned on the light to see. because I am shocked in a vastly used public setting that anyone would use a plastic curtain that can harbour pink mold. staff are highly unlikely to care enough to spray and scrub that down, and you can tell. It just makes me concerned. I love the alkaline water but then again makes me wonder if the stones are being boiled and filters changed to have clean drinking water. I didn't try it After this. I just wanted to leave. I think obviously they could have a wonderful space or float in general there. Float is a great company. But this one needs some TLC and improved cleanliness big time. The art is lovely. Please improve this because I'd want to go knowing I'm floating in sanitary conditions and able to have clean towels and shower. Thank you

We had the 45 minute massage and that was good enough for me. The view in the back is spectacular! One of the best views in Banff. Parking is easy they have a parking lot. As well as two steam rooms and two saunas. There was also a quiet room with lounge chairs. I loved the one sauna that had a glass wall that looked into the forest. Perfect temperature and so relaxing. There were also cold outdoor showers, hammocks, so many lounging chairs and two fires to enjoy. We also enjoyed the restaurant for lunch which was delicious. I had a pesto chicken sandwich with beet chips and a glass of wine. It was a bit pricy but it was very good. We finished the day with a scrub in a steam room and then a shower in the change rooms. I decided to go for it as the prices aren't too bad and the good reviews were still good. the spa is in a strip mall and the ambiance is very similar to some of the other nicer strip mall spas I've been ton. Not the nicest spa around but also not the price structure of one of those spas. The staff was nice, we got early and they got us in early to boot. The couple's room is not what I pictured from TV (I've never had one before) but it was just two treatment rooms with the curtain opened. so we were only kind of in the same room. I do imagine the rooms is strange when you aren't in a couple's massage as there is just a curtain between you and someone else unless i'm missing something else about the room to add privacy. The massage was very eclectic - there was a mix of regular massages, use of hot rocks at times and some shiatsu. A mixture that was quite nice and yet I've never had in combo before. Over all we quite enjoyed our time there and I might have made my spa newbie fiance a bit more high maintenance... heh.

Review Visit: July 13th, 2015…read more During a 50+ hour drive, you naturally stop at gas stations and restaurants for a stretch of the legs and bathroom breaks. But a hot spring? Sure, why not! If you've been reading my last few blogs, you'll note that I went on a 50+ hour trip across America and Canada to reach Nakusp, British Columbia. Along the way, we made many stops at gas stations, restaurants and various odds and ends. When we were approaching the Banff National Park area, Laura asked us if we wanted to spend the afternoon taking a break from driving. All the adults immediately said yes and so did the kids. We set our new coordinates to Banff Upper Hot Springs and got excited in anticipation. As we pulled up, Laura had to hunt for a spot to park as the number of parking spots was rather limiting. After we waited for a spot to open up, everyone filed out of the van, gathered our swimming gear and headed in. The building that houses the business is beautifully built. I'm not expert on buildings but it felt like a mansion that was lifted out of the Swiss mountains. As we headed in, we got in line and read the signs and posters as the line slowly moved forward. When it came time to pay, I think it was around $10 or so per adult? Maybe a little more or little less? The website says under $10/adult but they may have seasonal pricing. Either way, it is a fairly cheap admission cost. After paying, the guys and girls split up and head to their respective locker room. Andy and I shared a locker since we weren't carrying much. After getting in our swimming trunks, it was hot springs time. Now, if you are thinking of a normal pool with screaming kids, parents lounging on chairs, a life guard with sunscreen on his nose and that one person doing cannonballs, you couldn't be further from the truth. In reality, the hot spring was more of a relaxation experience. No noisy kids. No diving board. No nothing. Just relaxation. That first toe or foot in to the water was exciting. I believe the big pool were the majority of the people were had it's temperature around 100F/38C. It was comfortably hot and as you fully submerged in to the pool, you felt yourself melt and all your worries slowly dissolve. We spent about 30 minutes or so in the main pool and that is about your limit before the heat of the hot spring causes you to feel dehydrated and thirsty. During that 30 minutes, Andy and I decided to try the hotter springs behind the main pool. This is like the hot tub version of a hot spring. Smaller, more intimate and a solid 20F hotter than the main spring. I don't recall exactly how hot the hotter spring is but I know after 10 minutes, I had to cool off and go back in to the main spring. Laura told us that the indigenous people of the area would relax in hot springs to open the body's pores to let out negative/bad stuff and then they would jump in cold water to close everything back up. Here, they offered a cold shower in the corner walking area. Being the explorer that I am, I jumped out of the pool and took a deep breath before dumping a ton of cold water on me. Talk about shocking! As I stood there with cold water pouring over me, I couldn't help but stare at the mountains as my body cooled down and I wonder why I do the things I do. Did I mention the beautiful view from the pool? While your body gets to enjoy the benefits of relaxing in the hot water, your eyes get to enjoy a gorgeous view of the mountains and skyline. I tried to include photos of the view but they do far from serve it justice. I found myself just zoning out while staring at the landscape that poked up beyond the wall. All my worries and concerns just disappeared as I became attuned with nature and serenity. While I highly visit anyone and everyone to try a hot spring out at least once in their life, you should really just come and check out Banff National Park in general. It's one of the most gorgeous places I've ever visited. I am from Central Illinois, so the change in landscape from flat lands and corn fields to mountains and forests was a welcoming one. If you can't make it to Banff, just know there are a ton of hot springs in the world and if there is one within a feasible distance from you at any time, don't hesitate to go. Your mind, body and soul won't regret it.

The hot springs are just a short 7-minute walk from the gondola area. At check-in, you'll need to remove your shoes, but indoor slippers are allowed outside. Lockers were included with our tickets, though towels cost $2 CAD each. Once we got to the thermal pool, it was a bit underwhelming, there was only one pool, and it was quite crowded, especially with a lot of kids, which made it less relaxing. Honestly, it felt like something we could have experienced at our hotel's hot tub. We stayed for about 45 minutes before calling it a day. While I'd definitely recommend the gondola experience, I would skip the hot springs.

I did a bit of shopping downtown and decided to treat myself to a little spa treatment at the hotel. Meadow Spa + Pools was worth every penny! Meadow Spa + Pools is located in the Moose Hotel, which is where I had stayed, so I just had to stumble over there in my bathrobe and flippy floppies for my appointment. Since it was a last minute thing, I booked my massage about an hour before my scheduled time and they were incredibly accommodating and squeezed me in no problem. I went with an aromatherapy massage and my masseuse helped me pick out a scent that would help me relax. I also informed him that stress tension is my biggest issue and that my shoulders/back were basically FUBAR at all times. Also, my legs (thanks to some a massive ice hike up Sulfur Mountain), were incredibly sore. Gratefully he really spent time focusing on those areas, working out all the tension and pain. He checked in with me regularly on pressure and it just felt wonderful. I felt so relaxed after my session. Admittedly, I'm not entirely sure I'm someone who really responds well to aromatherapy (most scents actually give me a headache) so I personally wouldn't add that piece again in the future but the massage was glorious. As a spa guest you have access to their private hot tub, lounge (with tea, water infusions, snacks and lounge chairs) and the hotel hot pools and sauna on the roof. The lounge and the treatment rooms are clean and soothing. My massage table was heated and felt very cozy. It's easy to feel chilled in the winter while in the mountains but they do a nice job keeping you warm here. As a guest of Moose, I already had access to the rooftop pools so I decided to take advantage of the private spa hot tub after my massage. The private hot tub had the same amazing mountain view as the roof tubs but it was smaller and more intimate. I was the only one in there, in fact, so I got to relax deeply. This hot tub has a lovely waterfall and the firepit is located directly next to it, so it felt cozy and luxurious all at once. Loved every second! Worth every single penny. Would highly recommend a visit here. Just be sure to give yourself a little time to enjoy all those extra amenities!
