EVERYTHING he did at our wedding was perfect. Communication in advance, and on the day, was clear and smooth. We hired Runaway DJ Services for our May 2019 wedding and we couldn't be happier. I worked with Jon and David initially and they were great. They gave me some initial guidance when I booked them in advance which helped with the planning and timeline. They were able to provide additional outdoor speakers for our ceremony and even ordered an omni-directional microphone that our officiant requested, it allowed the 3 of us to share one microphone during the ceremony that picked up all of our voices. For the actual day of the wedding we had Armin perform as our DJ and he was awesome. He played the list of songs that we wanted to hear both during the cocktail reception and the main reception. We had a very specific song for our first dance (we took tango lessons) that you couldn't find in iTunes or the Android store so we emailed him the file and he played it without incident. Armin was great in that he was also the MC for our event, he helped invite people into the reception from the cocktail hour and did a great job of announcing the bridal party's entrance. Chris was the DJ for our wedding in September 2016. He has been doing weddings for 20 years, and his experience really shines through. I had a relatively small wedding of around 70 guests and I was afraid we wouldn't have a critical mass of people to keep the dancing going. We ended up dancing for almost 3 hours straight because Chris pivoted when the people were slowing down and switched up the tracks to keep the energy up. Everyone keeps telling us they can't believe how much they danced and how great the party was! He really selected a great combination of newer music that kept everyone on the dance floor, and oldies to keep all ages interested! In terms of logistics, Chris was very flexible about coming to the venue early to setup so that he wouldn't get in the way of the ceremony. I also thought that the questionnaire they sent us about what music we liked was well-thought out and incredibly organized, and Chris did a great job of honoring our wishes. I especially appreciated that he stayed away from those obnoxious songs that are popular at every wedding for some reason (chicken dance, anyone?) The only tiny, minuscule complaint I had was that Chris is pretty busy and hard to get in touch with beforehand at times. That being said, as we got closer to the date he came through and executed just perfectly, so it didn't end up being a problem at all. Jon and David did an amazing job for us at our wedding (May 2012). I actually heard about them through a friend that used them for their wedding when I was first gathering info for DJ's last year. After hearing their name over and over again from different acquaintances I thought "I need to give these guys a chance!"... I'm so happy that I did. Choosing wedding vendors is very hard, for us food was #1 and music was #2. Both of these vendors met our expectations (we used "Out to Lunch" Catering). Each meeting was professional and valuable as Jon walked me through some of the logistical points of planning the wedding that didn't even occur to me. Me an my husband planned our own wedding but it was very helpful to have some pointers with planning a schedule and thinking about how long each wedding "line item" takes. From the end of the ceremony to the cake cutting it is a DJ's job to keep everyone on schedule and basically run the show, I thought that David (our DJ) did that perfectly. Jon and David came out and did a site visit at our property which was helpful and made me feel good that they were as familiar as possible with our site. The days leading up to the wedding David checked in with me and did a little summary of each part of the wedding (this eased my mind and worry). We had not chosen an exit song yet (one to walk down the isle after being married) and David recommended Stevie Wonder's "Sign Sealed & Delivered" and it was a brilliant choice. At that point I could not bear to make one more decision as i was overwhelmed by so many other tasks since my wedding was a day or two away. I was very impressed by the amount of music that they had. Me an my husband love all types of music but we really like electronica (deadmau5, Calvin Harris, Dub Step). I wanted some of this music to be Incorporated with out scaring some of the older guests away. I feel like David did an amazing job of transitioning into some of these song requests. We had grandparents and older guests dancing for hours then as the night got later we had a Barn Fresh Rave. It was epic and the best party of my life! The equipment they was very good and they rocked our 100 year old barn (where we had our reception). I would hire these guys again in a heartbeat if I had another event. When my husband and I attend weddings, he pays a lot of attention to the music played. He has strong opinions about making sure people are having fun but not just playing ONLY the classic wedding songs. So when we were looking for a DJ for our wedding, the stakes were high. David was great to work with and I would highly recommend asking for him or his brother John to be your DJ! Unfortunately the DJ we ended up with for our wedding wasn't great. I'm not sure if he was new or there was a lack of communication. David had us fill out a packet before the wedding for music preferences. While filling it out I wrote down that our guests and ourselves were more into early 2000's or 2010 type music. A lot of us having grown up in the 2000's. Unfortunately music that way played was more from the 80's and early 90's. I appreciate that he was there early and had everything set up on time. Although I wish he would have communicated more with our event coordinator Colleen; as well as read the room and our packet a little better. David is simply the BEST. David was the DJ for our wedding earlier this month at Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club; and we had people complimenting his work both that night and after! He doesn't play "toxic" songs?!? What the heck does that mean?? It doesn't sound good, and if anything, I'm sure "toxic" songs are the ones I probably have the best time dancing to! So, I was a little hesitant about the DJ choice for my brother's wedding. I was the Best Man, and the DJ is generally my duty, but since the wedding was far away, I had to concede this duty to others. AND, IT TOTALLY WORKED OUT. Jon and his crew from J & M were AWESOME! He worked with my brother & "new" sister early on, and this made for an awesome event and party. The wedding was on the beach at Bodega Bay/Doran Beach. The reception afterword was at the Bodega Harbour Yacht Club House on the water. Jon hooked up a PA System on the beach. This was very useful since along with a great day, we also enjoyed some raging onshore Pacific gales. The PA system allowed everyone to hear the ceremony. For dinner at the Club, Jon and his crew were extremely helpful with ensuring a flow to the evening. They had a PA system set up upstairs in the dining area, and also their DJ system and lighting downstairs for the dancing later. Jon served as the MC during the dinner. I was nastily nervous about my Best Man speech, but Jon was pretty good at calming me down and making it easy and not out of place. As for the post-dinner festivities, we had a SLAMMIN' party! Yes, our crew is hella cool, and we know how to rock the house, but Jon and his crew totally helped to make it go down! They played all kinds of music (I didn't have to worry about the lack of "toxic" tunes). Y'know, I can see how it IS hard to DJ for events like this. You have a mixed crowd. You have all kinds of generations to appease, and get out on the dance floor. It's tough, but Jon did what he was supposed to do: help create a fun time! By the end of the night my suit coat was off, my tie went from my neck to around my head, my button-down shirt was stripped off and twirled skyward, and I was on the floor break-dancing. I am giving Run Away Dj services 1 star, only because you cannot give a business 0 stars. I am going to go into detail into all the aspects that DJ David Craven fell short in Dj'ing our wedding on November 7th in Napa, CA. Preface: We had met with DJ David Craven at his home months before to go over the detail of our wedding and talk about the finer points. My wife and I put extensive amounts of care into picking our wedding DJ. There were emails, excel spread sheets and contracts that explicitly had all details needed for our wedding. This was talked about and reviewed twice on a conference call before the actual wedding weeks before. 1. During the ceremony, there was only one song to be played. No transition! No fade out! No room for error! What actually happened is, when our families, my self, my grooms men and the brides maids walked up a COMPLETELY different song was played that was NEVER talked about, selected or discussed!!! Thankfully when my wife came out he decided to play the right sone. That will be the highlight of our wedding video... Thanks! -How do you make that error unless you have no idea what you are doing and who you are working for???? 2. The time line and schedule was completely ignored. He started announcing things out of order and at wrong times. Toasts, dances, and introductions were made at the wrong times throughout the night. It was great because timing and food arrival times are not important. - Again, did you just ignore the detailed sheet with times and the order that things went in that our wedding planned, my wife and the venue host that was in charge of the wait staff and kitchen all discussed with you??? 3. When introducing people to speak its really best if you don't call the father of the groom by the best man's name... - Broken record, the contract and the excel spread sheet that had all names and who they were and when they would be speaking.. 4. Most of the items above can be ignored if you are able to proved and great night for the guest with music and energy. This was one of the worst aspects of the evening. We filled out a survey months before with music taste and sections of what we liked, didn't like and import song selections.... Again ignored. The DJ besides the bride and groom has the most amount of attention at a wedding. They set the tone and really shape the night by their attitude and ability to read the guests and literally set the stage for a great night. None of this was done. People stated that the wedding was great but we got tired of hearing that the DJ wasn't up to par. What a disappointment! 5. I actually walked up to the DJ at 10:30, 45 minutes before the wedding was scheduled to be over and told him to play the last song because the dance floor was nearly empty. In conclusion, all in all the night was successful because the rest of the staff that picked up the slack for Runaway DJ and worked with his lack of organization and improvised. For that I thank the Mertiage Resort in Napa. As for Runaway DJ and David Craven, I urge you all to keep looking down your list and pass them by. I tried to contact David Craven via email, multiple voice-mails after the wedding to discuss what happened and never heard back. Thats great customer service values that you stand behind. read more

We booked David Craven for our wedding and couldn't be more happier with our decision! Our venue, Trione Vineyards & Winery had Runaway DJ on their recommended vendor list. David was easy going, friendly, and had a fun personality. I had a phone conversation with him before booking and immediately knew he was the perfect DJ for our wedding. David was responsive and always answered any questions I had. He was organized and sent me all the information I needed for our wedding day. David listened to what we wanted to do with our grand entrance dance and gave great suggestions and recommendations. He gave us a detailed list of what songs we liked, did not like and what genres of music we preferred. It really could not get much easier than that! Runaway DJ Services deserves more stars! Jon Moore did an amazing job as our DJ at our wedding this past weekend!! From my first phone call with him to our last meeting he was professional, courteous, and really easy to work with. He is a great DJ because he is a great people person. He knows exactly how to read the vibe you would like for your party and then go out and create it. We had our wedding at our house so we were extremely busy up until the last moment preparing our yard and house for guests and did not have time to give him a detailed list of songs we wanted (ie. didn't pick out our "first dance" song, etc). I had to trust that Jon knew what we wanted and would come up with something special and he did. With so many details to keep track of for your wedding, it is invaluable to have great people surrounding you to create an unforgettable event. Thanks Jon for being one of those people! Our wedding was a very personal event to my husband and I, with a lot of our family and friends pitching in to add special details. Jon added to this by setting up special lighting around the dance area, being our MC to announce different events during the night and to keep the energy on the dance floor going until we couldn't dance anymore. Our ceremony and reception were both at our house and Jon played the perfect music throughout the night. He brought our older guests out dancing with the younger ones, started several dance offs, and somehow brought the running man out of my muscle memory - "Go Hammer, go Hammer, Go!" It turned out to be an awesome party and we are still receiving compliments from guests on how fun the music and dancing was. I chose Runaway DJ because I had seen them at a few other weddings and loved their energy! They really cater to any style of event and give you exactly what you want. David was my DJ and I absolutely loved working with him! He played all of the music I wanted to hear, stuck to my timeline, and got all of my guests excited to get out on the dance floor. I wanted him to act as the emcee of my wedding, with lots of announcements and such, and he did exactly that. I cannot rave about Jon and his team enough :) from the moment Jon and I connected, I knew I made the right decision for our DJ for our wedding of 200. He was insightful, gave guidance when needed but also listened intently, and felt genuinely excited and passionate about helping my now-husband and me have our dream wedding. We booked Runaway Dj back in October for our wedding on July 18th, 2015. My fiancé took on the task of finding the perfect Dj, and within minutes of his phone conversation with David, he knew he needed to look no further! We kept in touch with David, who gave us all the paperwork to fill out and made an appointment to meet and see the site. We loved him from the moment we met!! He was calm and confident, and at the same time very laid back and go with the flow! We were super happy!! About a week before the wedding, we found out there was a scheduling mix up, and that our Dj was actually going to be Chris. David assured us we would be totally happy with Chris, and set up another appointment to meet at the site with both himself and Chris. If we had any worries about a change in Dj- they were instantly erased the moment we met Chris. Very much like David, he was laid back, calm, confident, and fun! He was super thorough as he looked through our list, and contacted us with an easy to understand breakdown of the day with any remaining questions he had. It was MUCH appreciated! He knew his stuff, and we were happy to have him! All our feelings were confirmed during the wedding- Chris ROCKED it!! Such an amazing Dj. He did a wonderful job, music was spot on, and he made the wedding flow feel smooth and flawless (even though behind the scenes it was crazy!!) :) the music and dancing was definitely the best part. Runaway DJ completely rocked our wedding. Jon and his brother executed everything perfectly and had the perfect blend of our requests and their professional opinion. More than that, Jon is just an awesome guy. He worked with us throughout the process, and was laid back the whole time, which means a lot when it comes to wedding vendors! We got a chance to Skype with Jon before the wedding and really finalize things and I have to say, it was one of the funniest conversations and at the same time put us at ease- even with our wedding one week away!
