We have been informed that the funeral home has nothing to do with adding name to headstone. That does not however explain how RUDE they were when my wifes MOTHER passed away. At 5am one Sunday morning I had to dig that business card out that I have had tucked behind my license for the past three years and called the phone number. The woman that answered the phone sounded as if it was 12 o'clock Sunday afternoon. She assured me that someone would get back to me within the hour. As promised, I received a call from a young man named, Logan. He explained that an associate of his would be by shortly to pick my mom's body up. By 6 AM that Sunday morning, I walked beside the gurney that carried my mom's body out to the van where she would be taken to a safe place until in Logan's care. Logan called again later that morning to assure me that my mom's body was on the way to them. Logan contacted me several more times to keep me abreast of what was going on and what to expect. And reminded me that if I had any questions at all to reach out. Logan basically held my hand throughout the entire process of laying my mom's body to rest. He came to the cemetery said a prayer, read a beautiful poem and made my entire family feel at ease during a very difficult time. I honestly can't thank him enough.

What once seemed like a peaceful and beautiful place to go and visit my loved ones now gives me an angry and negative feeling. This past Christmas season my wife and I wanted to purchase 2 holiday blankets from Holy Sepulchre. One for the grave that my two parents and my brother is in and one for the grave of my aunt and uncle. We made the purchase and each one cost $60.00. On Christmas day we went to visit the graves to find that the holiday blanket for my aunt and uncle was missing. I was very alarmed and concerned about this and contacted their office the next day to ask for a refund for the one blanket that was missing. The lady that I spoke to took quite a while to get back to me but assured me that she would put in the refund, but it would take until January 17th to post to my account. THAT IS OVER 3 WEEKS! January 17th came and still no refund, so I called and asked for a supervisor. They told me that someone named Chris was the supervisor and he would call me when he could. It took a while but I spoke to Chris and he told me that he doesn't handle that and he had me speak to someone named Ellen who said she just put in the refund. On January 26th I called again; still no refund and the lady that I spoke to said it would be another 2 weeks! Ellen called me the same day and said I should see it the next day. I then called my credit card to see if the refund was pending and the lady from my credit card said There was no refund pending. She strongly recommended that I dispute the charge because there were only a few days left to put in a dispute on that claim. She said some companies attempt to time it out so that you can not get your money back. I put in the dispute and during that investigation Holy Sepulchre did not respond to my credit card company, so a few days ago (11 weeks later!!!) I finally got back my $60.00. Make no mistake, to funeral homes and cemeteries, the death of your loved ones is nothing more than a lucrative business. When they give you the whole sales pitch about taking care of your deceased family members in your time of need, it is a load of crap and it will certainly cost you a load of money! I regret that my mom, dad, brother, aunt, uncle, and some of their friends chose Holy Sepulchre as their final resting place. All of this hassle over $60.00! it is despicable!!!

Chris is likely to have attended to thousands of funerals, but there was no sense that this was 'same-old, same-old' with him. He was so in tune with where the family was emotionally, and was able to adjust accordingly. He was such a calming, helpful presence throughout. He has the wisdom of knowing that people's faculties are compromised at a time like this and guided us gently through each part of the process at just the right time, never invasive, checking in on what might be needed and offering just the right amount of guidance and preparation. Likewise, every inch of the funeral home and their chapels have been designed to make you feel the warmth, serenity and dignity you would wish for at such a time: The decor is elegant but homey; the background music is peaceful and settling; the fish pond and fountain in the reception area adds a natural, calming element, and of course, there's Jake. Jake (Chris's shadow) is a young, highly trained labradoodle who is the resident support dog, gently walking around, offering himself to anyone he senses may need him. He is a special soul and he loves his work. I don't think the process could have gone more smoothly. The chapel was beautifully set up and my mother-in-law looked so naturally elegant and peaceful at her wake in the chapel. They did an incredible job. They created a beautiful digital slideshow from all our photos and set up our photo boards and flowers magnificently. After the service, they packed up everything from the chapel and stored it for us carefully until we could collect it at our convenience. Nothing seemed too much for them as long as they could help make this process as easy and meaningful as possible for us. One final aspect worth mentioning: The funeral home allowed us to arrange a lot upfront, before my mother-in-law passed, which similar business services do not always allow. Once someone has passed, emotions are so high that it's really hard to concentrate on small details, which is required to plan accordingly. Being able to plan this all upfront was incredibly helpful.
