WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!!! Their contract ironically prevents recovery rights for "aggravation, pain and suffering, mental anguish, or emotional distress." That is precisely what they put a multi-generational family of five with two USMC veterans through during a 19 MONTH building process!! One was a USMC Vietnam combat veteran who lost his beautiful wife to a horrific battle with dementia during the build. 19 MONTH process started in December 2017 and was a TOTAL mess. Top screw ups - 1) Driveway built 25 ft OVER property line preventing clear title and then started to fall apart 3 months post-install, 2) Brand new roof needed repairs, 3) Stucco without expansion joints would cost at least $5-10K to fix, 4) Septic tank with sprayers placed on wrong side of house, 5) Kitchen vent hood has overhead vent that exhausts onto ceiling instead of recirculating system promised, 6) Had to pay more because office did not reserve hard surface material in time, 7) Installed wrong wood flooring AND backsplash, 8) Fireplace installed incorrectly, 9) Kitchen cabinets and house walls painted wrong color and finish, 10) Water leaks in garage, 11) Water line kink in master bath, 12) Major water drainage issues on property, 13) Worker even defecated in backyard vs using onsite porta potty. These only scratch the surface! Had to get a lawyer involved at 16 months to try to hold the builder accountable. Finally terminated the contract in July 2019. Builder then listed the property at $129,000 more than the original contracted price. Property closed on April 21, 2020 for $100,000 more than the original contracted price. Interviewed this builder. They could not answer questions like what code does your organization build and adhere to as a standard. The customer service guy was a tried and true sales man. Very car sales man like. After receiving three homes in various staged of construction, it was obvious this company is being ran by a bunch of cowboys that don't know how to build a quality home. Lots of corner cutting at every phase of the construction phase. Be very careful. Pay attention and ask questions on their excavation and grading process. Eow!!! Frightening.. read more

No matter what you do, who you have build your house etc do NOT use Ruhl construction!!! Horrible customer service, even worse workmanship, and absolutely no follow through! They will never fix what they say they will. They will never return your calls- in fact they will block snd screen them! Don't expect your 1 year maintenance walk thru or paint touch up, they will find excuses that they can't or weren't able to get to it, then they will tell you it's past the 1 year mark. I would give zero stars if I could. This was a HORRIABLE experience. Between them not giving us what was agreed on to cutting corners to now finding out a WHOLE support beam has been missing in our home and due to builder laziness the wrong fuses put in and putting a 2 car garage over the 2.5 we signed our contract for ect... everything is nickle and dimed. none of the home warranty claims in the first year were actually fixed, the flood is still laid wrong and buckles. will NEVER do business with this company again nor will we recommend them. We have also been told by people who worked for this company how much they hated it as well. I would look else where if you are wanting to build a NICE custom home. read more

I had an issue with their construction workers harassing me while I was in my own yard a few houses away. As soon as I made the call to Ruhl, John and Kevin nipped the issue right then and there. Horrible service and morally corrupt people. Too many problems to count. They didn't cap our fireplace and rain got inside and there was mold everywhere. They sheet rocked over and would have left it that way had I not told them to rip it off and prove it to me. Sure enough, mold everywhere. They where buddies with the inspector and he approved everything, knowing all of the problems. Daniel would not answer my calls or call me back. I had to drive to his office to speak to him. He fired the person in charge of our house halfway through the build. He then put his brother, John, in charge of our house. Daniel, himself, told us John was an idiot and didn't know anything during the build. That was one of the only things Daniel was right about!!! John is an idiot. It was one thing after another. The framers apparently drank beer the whole time they were working and left beer bottles everywhere. Daniel didn't care. I have heard horror story after horror story from people that used Ruhl. I have talked to many people that have built with them and I have not heard of anyone having a good experience. I have a hard time believing the people that gave them good reviews, actually built with them. Good luck if you do!!!! Justin, i have no idea who you are. You were not an employee of the company during our build. I just needed to follow up on the response. Everything I said was 100% true. Of course they are going to try to spin my review. Yes, I built with Ruhl 7 years ago but I'm still paying for it. We have had our master bath painted again, our back patio resurfaced, painted our kitchen cabinets, had our arches fixed, had our door knobs replaced, replaced multiple mirrors, had to replace tile, have paint on our wood floors that can't be removed, scaffolding marks on our wood floors, and numerous other problems. Just do you're due diligence before you use a builder. I don't want this to happen to anyone else. We have spent thousands of dollars fixing their ineptness on a brand new home. Where do I even start is the question. We started our build with Ruhl in September of 2017, and it was one issue after another and one lie after another. First it started with the wrong floor plans being sent out to all of the subcontractors. Let me start with saying that we chose to go with natural concrete floor in the downstairs part of our house. During the framing process we showed up and the framers are nailing wall supports in the middle of our Livingroom floors, oops. So I called the job superintendent and he said well why does that matter, you have hardwood floors based on my drawings. Nope, he was still looking at the original floor plans of the house, the same ones that were sent out to all of the subs by mistake. We told him that they were the wrong plans and he argued with us about it and said they that was the ones we signed off on. Turns out they loaded the wrong plans into their system "co-construct" to pass along to everyone, oops. Issue after issue after issue, it was always something. Then we got a call to let us know that they are going to start roofing our house and we need to pick out color of shingles. We actually signed off on a metal roof based on the drawings that we were presented. Nope, they forgot to update that in the contract supposedly. So we had to go around and around and around with the owner and he said that is not what's in our standard contract. We aren't building a spec house BTW, this was a custom modern house. We ended up having to pay an extra $10K for the metal roof that we were lead to believe that we were going to get based on our drawing and plans that we talked about for week with the owner about before we signed off on them. We had to go to the our house every signal day to make sure that they were building everything correct per our plans. They frame up sidewalk leading up to the house, I called the Ruhl and said it was wrong and needed to be changed per our plans. Yeah, yeah, I will get it fixed. Nope, the poured the concrete anyway and had to come bust it out and redo the whole thing again. Our back porch was no different, we paid extra for an additional 20' x 20' extension. I also pointed that our on the same day. They didn't get it right the first time either. I could go on and on and on for days about all of the mistakes they made. Also, during the process I had one of the guys that is the owners right had man cuss me. We have all kinds of cracking and erosion in our drive way, we are being told that its industry standard. They are currently building a house next to us and they are getting paint and concrete all over our fence. They said well, its a common fence. Really? They think they can just do whatever they want. If you are thinking about building with Ruhl, I would go over to Aspen Ridge in BA off of Aspen between 121st and 131st and talk to some of the people that have built with them first. I have yet to meet anyone in our neighbor that I pleased with them. Their stories are all just like ours. Very unprofessional builder. Took them over a year to finish our house as well. Then to top it all off I just recently got up on my roof to put up Christmas lights and found a bunch more surprises. We built a home with Ruhls recently. I always struggled communicating with them from the very beginning. The worst part is they bill out ridicously for everything than any other builder would. If questioned, they would give out harsh replies. They only do what they think is correct and easy. Would not recommend any one. It's like throwing your money into a dump yard and get bunch of head aches. read more
