Gary is gem. Look no further. Gary replaced my 20+ year old broken Aeron seat panel and tuned/lubed everything else up in about 15 minutes. Quick to respond, good conversation, reasonably priced and same day on site service . In short everything you could ask for. You can't do it any better than this. When I shared my experience with some of my clients they knew exactly who I was talking about and raved about the experience. This guy is special. read more

I rarely write reviews, but once I found out Gary was on Yelp, I was happy to write this. Gary's been the only Herman Miller tech to work on my Aeron during the 25-year-old (or so) lifetime of the chair, he's replaced an armrest or two, the seat, the height cylinder. Prices have always been fair. While he works on your chair (I asked -- he said one of thousands), ask him about being a musician -- opening for Toto, etc. The guy has lived an amazing life. The Seattle Times should be reaching out to him. Some of the stories he shared during the brief time it took him to fix my chair made me wish I knew more about his life. Today's visit made me wish my older Herman Miller chair broke down more often. Such an awesome guy! read more

I rarely bother leaving a review but I'd give Gary 10 stars if possible. Gary is very communicative, and knows Aeron chairs inside and out. His rates were quite reasonable as well. Gary was able to come out to my house within 24 hours of my chair breaking, got everything working again and I I got a great lesson on the ins and outs of the chair components. Thank you Gary! read more

My Herman Miller chair broke and found Gary here on Yelp. Contacted Gary over email and he was very responsive. I sent over the information he asked for, he gave me quotes for new and used parts and we set up a time for the repairs at my house. Gary came over and fixed the chair, tweaked it to make sure it was in great working condition and even showed me how to use the chair. Awesome service and highly recommend him. read more

I am so glad that I contacted Gary for my Herman Miller Aeron Size A. He immediately knew what size I needed, put some resistance wheels for my hardwood floor, and kindly showed how to use the chair/some calibration for my weight!! Gary was communicative, helpful and knew what he's doing (the chair is amazing). read more

I bought a second hand Aeron chair many years ago and was finally fed up with the sagging cylinder (a problem it had more-or-less since I bought it). I picked up an OEM cylinder on Amazon and tried to remove the old one and install the new one myself... Two hours later I was looking for local Herman Miller repair services to do it for me. No amount of pounding it, wrenching it, lubricating it, or swearing at it was getting it to budge. I found Gary here on Yelp and contacted him. He got back to me very quickly and was able to verify via a few pictures that my new cylinder was authentic (at least I did one thing right, or just lucky, in this whole thing) and I made an appointment with him for late in the afternoon later in the week. Gary was on time for our appointment and had everything fixed up in less than half an hour. Though even he admitted that the cylinder in my chair was more stubborn than usual. He was also able to date it, via his extensive knowledge of Herman Miller's products, to 1997. Turns out I have a 20 year old chair with what was probably an original cylinder. No wonder it was so hard to pry out! Anyways, Gary even tuned up some other worn out parts of my chair while he had it open, and now it works great! Even better than when I bought it! In short, Gary knows Herman Miller's products inside and out and has expert knowledge in servicing them. He provides truly excellent customer service and is a pleasure to work with. I really can't recommend him enough. read more

Gary truly is the ChairMan! Great guy and he knows all there is to know about your chair. My almost 20 year old HM Aeron needs periodic maintenance, upkeep and maybe some parts. Gary is the only one I call! read more

Gary is definitely an excellent expert on the Aeron chair. His service is comprehensive and careful. My Aeron is old with many issues and he solved these all perfectly. He is friendly and knowledgable. He taught me patiently how to adjust my chair correctly. He came on site where I live to perform his services. His email response is quick. Also, I got many Herman Miller authentic supplements with a decent discount. My Aeron chair revives! Thank you, Gray. I am satisfied with this experience. Highly recommend. read more

I've owned a Herman Miller Aeron chair for my home office for about ten years. Although it's one of the best chairs you can buy, mine had some wear and tear - one of the levers had broken off, the lumbar pillow was ripped, and the tilt lock was failing. I contacted Gary Ruhl over email (garchair@comcast.net) and he came out to my home to service my Aeron. I'd told him what was wrong with my chair over email and showed up with replacement parts. He spent over an hour rebuilding the "black box" under the seat pan, replacing/upgrading/adjusting various parts, and explaining the secrets of the Aeron to me. After the repair/rebuild was complete, we went though an adjustment process where I sat in the chair and he attentively adjusted various screws and spring tensions for my desired posture. Combined parts and labor was $97. My chair feels nice and tight now! Gary also sells new and used Herman Miller chairs in small volumes, so if you're in the market for an Aeron, I'd check with him - he can probably beat any price. read more

Summary: Gary is an outstanding example of a top-notch, small businessperson that "gets" customer service. Recently, my ten year old Herman Miller Aeron chair developed a severe case of saggy, floppy-arm syndrome. Since Gary (of Ruhl and Associates) was the local Herman Miller repair guy and since the chair had a 12 year parts and labor warranty, I called him up and asked for help. About a week later, he came by the house (I work out of a home office a lot of the time), repaired both arms, and inspected and tuned up the chair. Gary was courteous and professional, his work was meticulous, and he delivered more than was promised. What more could you want? In this era of declining customer service, it was refreshing to meet a small businessperson who really understands the concept. I give him a 100% on my scale of satisfaction, and would recommend him to friends and co-workers without reservation. If you've got a sick Aeron chair or are in the market for another one (and are in the Puget Sound area), Gary is your go-to guy! (note: Gary isn't actually small..he's normal sized. I was referring to his business!) read more

My Aeron chair broke. Gary quickly delivered a new part at a fair price. Offered to install but told me it was easy to do myself (it was.) What more could you ask for? read more

Gary fixed my Aeron chair right up. He was fast, knowledgeable and friendly. He also taught me about how to adjust the chair correctly and suggested that I view the you tube instructional video on YouTube. This was super helpful! read more

Ruhl and Associates - Furniture Repair Near Me

Gary came to my house on Tuesday after I emailed him Sundaya fternoon. He had my busted old second-hand Aeron fixed up in about 15 minutes. The cylinder burst/broken, causing the chair to leak oil all over the place. He replaced the cylinder (charging me half the regular price for it) and also repaired some broken bolts and provided a missing cover for the main chair mechanisms. All of that labor (& parts!) cost me $5 more than I would've paid for the parts myself direct from herman miller, which is awesome. Highly recommended. read more

Gary is Awesome. Scheduled with him via email to come out and fix my Herman Miller Aeron chair. We traded a few emails to ensure he knew what he needed and then scheduled a day. He called before he arrived and then fixed the chair in a matter of minutes and even suggested some warranty repairs he noticed that I didn't pay for. I would highly recommend. read more

I called Gary to inquire about replacing the two stage pneumatic cylinder in my 97' Aeron Chair. Gary provided me an affordable quote and we scheduled a date and time for him to drive to my house and repair my chair. He was prompt, courteous, polite and most of all, very efficient. It took him just a few minutes to replace the pneumatic cylinder and then offered to give the chair a full tune up while he had the chair apart. The amount on the invoice was exactly the amount he quoted me on the phone. I would highly recommend Gary's services to anyone who owns a Herman Miller chair. Great job Gary!!! Thanks for the excellent customer service!!! read more

Gary did an excellent job of refurbishing my 11 year old Aeron. He replaced my 2-stage pneumatic cylinder, inspected the inner parts of the chair, and sold me a replacement lumbar support. All of this was done at a very reasonable rate, and he came on site where I work to perform his services. If you want services you can trust and great value, contact Gary. read more

If I could give ten stars I'd do that. He's great at bringing back old tired chairs and making them better than new. Ours was 25 years old and very tired. He took it apart replaced the old bad parts with new ones that brought it up to new like condition. Don't go anywhere else. read more

Gary was extremely knowledgeable and meticulous. Came over to my house and fixed my Aeron in 15 minutes. He was also very respectful of COVID-era practices. read more

You can't find a more knowledgeable and efficient guy to repair your Hermann Miller Aeron chair(s). My wife and I were in the used office furniture business for years and have seen some fakes and flakes. Gary is the real deal. His prices are reasonable, he works efficiently and quickly and he doesn't blow smoke. He came to our place of (home) business, which was a pretty tall drive for him. He arrived when he said he would, fixed three chairs and was gone in about an hour (including time for jawing about the industry). You can't go wrong with Gary. read more

A number of colleagues at work highly recommended Gary, and my experience was top notch too. My Aeron chair was delivered personally to my door, and although I'd used these at work I didn't understand all the controls, which Gary guided me through. Really great service, price, and a nice person too. Recommended. read more

I would give Gary 10 stars for my 30 year old Eames chair. He repaired the seat shock mounts at a very reasonable price after comparing with a few quotes. He disassembled, packed/shipped (to Herman Miller to install the mounts), delivered, installed and helped us clean the leather/wood. Our chair looks amazing now. You can see Gary's passion when working with an Eames chair. He's very patient in explanations and shared a lot of stories of Eames with us. It's been a great experience working with Gary. I highly recommend him. read more

We had a couple of Herman Miller Mirra chairs that needed repair and Gary was great. Punctual, professional, personable, perfect. I was slightly skeptical at first since I couldn't find a big fancy website for Ruhl and Associates, but judging by his work I can see that he's getting enough referrals that he doesn't really need one. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his company and especially Gary for any Herman Miller chair repairs. He also turned out to be much less expensive than any of the other repair options that did have a big web presence and none of them were willing to come to my office for no extra charge. read more

Gary Ruhl was very kind and helpful. The appointment was at my house so I didn't need to drop my chair off in Shoreline. It was really convenient. He also sells refurbished chairs and I will reach out to him when I am in the market for a second chair. I am not using anyone else! read more

If you need your Aeron chair repaired, give Gary a call. I called him in the morning and he came to my house the same day. He repaired the chair at a very reasonable rate replacing a cylinder and tuning it up. He knows more about the chair than anyone and even gave me a lesson on how to use it to it's best ability. He is very customer service focused. I highly recommend Gary. Don't go anywhere else for your Aeron Chair repair. He can be reached at garchair@comcast.net. read more

Gary is great. Very skilled knowledgeable and does a great job. I have several Aeron chairs I bought over Craig's list that were less than perfect. Gary replaced the cylinder in one chair and fixed the squeaks in the other by totally disassembling and cleaning the chair. Now both chairs are as good as new. He also fixed the swinging arm problem by replacing the older parts with a modified newer part. And best of all he charged a very reasonable rate with a significant discount on the new parts. I highly recommend Gary! read more

Did a great job, he came to my house when he said he would, did what he promised and all at a very reasonable price. What more can one ask? CALL HIM! read more

Gary just left. He came over in less than a day, replaced two Mirra broken cylinders, and charged us a very reasonable price. One of our chairs took longer than expected because it was so wedged in that the old cylinder wouldn't come out, so he drove home with it, hit it with something bigger (or better) and brought it back. I expected him to ask for more than his estimate, since the second chair had been so difficult, but he honored his original estimate, which was, as noted above, very reasonable. If another one of our HM chairs goes, I'll be sure to call him. read more

You can tell Gary takes pride in his work. Great responsiveness to correspondence. Excellent service, Gary really knows what he's talking about and performs the repairs at a good value price. Highly recommended! Keep up the good work! read more

Gary is a Herman Miller DIY'ers dream. His prices for parts and shipping are very reasonable, and he is generous with repair advice from his years of experience working on HM chairs. read more

I found Gary with a Google search that turned up this entry on Yelp. My office chair (a Herman Miller Aeron) had broken and I needed to find a place to get it repaired or the parts to do it myself. For the list price of the part, he came to my house, performed the repair, and checked out the whole chair. He provided the parts, labor, and taxes just for the list price of the part. He even emailed me to let me know he was going to be a few minutes late due to traffic. And it was interesting to talk to him about his business while he was here as well. read more

Gary is great! Reasonable, quick, on time and made my old Aeron chair as good as new. I recommend his service to anyone in need of Herman Miller chair repair. read more

Gary is fast, professional, and thorough. His repair services are excellent, a great way to keep your HM chair in top condition (and it's easier, and probably less expensive, than getting the parts and doing it yourself). read more

My encounter with Gary helps me maintain my faith in mankind. Within two hours after I e-mailed him, on a Saturday afternoon no less, Gary was on the road to my home to fix the broken seat on my Aeron chair.
