My anxious 9mo rescue pup stayed here for a week. The staff were great communicators and graciously provided me with updates, honesty and feedback on how she was doing. Figs is high energy and a bit rambunctious, and he has a great time running around in the big yard with other dogs like him. The staff are so kind and loving, and in a recent 8 night stay Figs was sick and they kept me up to date and made sure he was cared for as I couldn't get back from my trip in time to take him to the vet. I have been using Ruff Stuff for over 8 years and have enjoyed every part of the company. I started with them doing walking via our house in Kits, then via our place in Pnt Grey, then via Dunbar area, then back to kits and Ruff Stuff continued to provide awesome walks for my pup through all of our moves and schedule changes. My pup has gone to Squamish also and enjoyed the HUGE yard and mountain hikes while boarding with the Ruff Stuff crew. He always comes home from boarding happy and healthy and even a little trimmer from being so active, which in his case is a good thing. Ruff Stuff was even on-call to take my boy when our son popped in to the world a month early and their amazing staff dropped everything to race over, grab my pooch and take care of him until we were ready to bring all our kids (four and two-legged) home. Now that my dog is older and we have settled in East Van we use their daycare on a regular basis for some social time for my old man. I love that I always get a little report on how his day went and I can even grab his food from their retail area! Its a fantastic addition and I can call in my food request, have my credit card automatically run and the staff will even load my car so I don't need to unhook a sleeping baby! 4/5 stars because they are not open on weekends and it would be great to be able to drop my fluffy monster off on a hectic Saturday, but hey, I guess no one is perfect ;-) read more

I've been bringing Polly to Ruff Stuff for over three years now. The facilities in Squamish are fantastic. The staff are real dog people. My dog has stayed for both short and long visits. It took me a long time to write a review for my own selfish reasons, I didn't want the place to be so popular that I couldn't get a reservation for my dog. Ruff Stuff is brilliant at what they do, we really love our experiences with them. The best thing for us is that Ruff Stuff lets your dog sleep on sofa if they are scared of crates, and they allow on-lead only dogs! When planning a two week vacation back to Europe to attend a wedding and visit family, my partner and I were very worried about what we would do with our sweet 1 year old pup. We couldn't take her as she didn't enjoy the flight out 5 months ago when we moved, but this flight has also left her with some crate trauma. Not being able to sleep in a crate rules out most dog boarding facilities. Luckily for us someone recommended Ruff Stuff, and our dog couldn't be happier here! Our dog went out for a trial weekend before our two week holiday to make sure that she fitted with the pack and enjoyed her stay. That she did! When we brought her back for her longer stay she was welcomed with open arms and was eager to get inside and play. Ruff Stuff are so great in so many ways, all the staff are lovely and know their stuff about dogs and different breed characteristics. Tracy the owner is incredibly caring and clearly has a passion for dogs. Upon request it was possible for us to see the facilities first hand, and see how happy all the dogs are there. The land they have for the dogs is incredible, lots of yards and equipment for them to run around and play in and on! While we were away we were able to check in on our pup on Facebook as Ruff Stuff are very good at uploading frequent pictures of all the dogs! The wonderful staff at Ruff Stuff even gave our dog her worming/flea/tick tablets when she needed them. During the week they will even pick-up and drop-off your dog from their Vancouver day care location, which can be very useful if you live in Vancouver and don't have much time to drive to Squamish. When we collected our pup she was clearly content, exhausted and had been well looked after and fed. She was even given a bath just before coming home! We love Ruff Stuff and so does our dog, she will be back soon! read more

My dog Dave is always super stoked to get to Ruff Stuff, and good and tired when I pick him up. The staff here are awesome, it's pretty obvious how much they love the dogs they work with. They always give me a run down of how he spent his day, who he played with, etc. He never comes home stinky, they keep the place pretty immaculate. My dog had a ball for the two weeks she stayed with Tracy in Squamish! I loved seeing photos and videos of my pooch while we were away, and she came home happy, exhausted, a lot less chunky, and smelling fresh and clean since they gave her a bath before we picked her up. I would board my children with Tracy and Co at Ruff Stuff (or Puppy Camp, as we call it in our house) if I could! We've been client's of Ruff Stuff for over six years. We began using Ruff Stuff with our big, silly lab Gus (bless his sweet little soul). We continued to use Ruff Stuff with our 8 week old chocolate lab, Barney. Both our dogs frequently boarded at Ruff Stuff, as well. We have COMPLETE faith and confidence in their ability to properly care for our dogs. Both our dogs emphatically rush to the door when they show up, and they come back completely pooped from a great hike on one of the wonderful trails in the area. We really love all the groovy photos they post of our dogs hiking or playing with the other dogs on the walk. Recently, we boarded our dog Barney for an extended stay. I must say, he came back way better behaved then when we dropped him off. It is with NO reservations that I recommend Ruff Stuff for your dog walking/ boarding needs. read more

We've been bringing our pit-mix puppy to Ruff Stuff since they opened and couldn't be happier. It is clear that everyone who works there is passionate about dogs and unlike a lot of dog walkers/daycares, they actually understand canine behaviour! They provide boundaries for our impulse control-challenged pup and are always happy to give us a re-cap of his day when we pick him up. FANTASTIC DAYCARE! I have been taking my very energetic dog to the Ruff Stuff Daycare on Vernon St., since they took over the daycare from the previous owners 3 years ago. Most importantly: the facility is safe and clean. The hours of the facility works well for our schedule, as they open early (7am) and close late (6:30pm). The location is perfect for people who are traveling into the downtown core from the suburbs: straight down Knight St - it's a quick turn off of Clark just South of East 1st. Easy to park for pick up and drop off. The staff are wonderful - it is clear that they welcome their doggy customers like one of their family. Mine regularly gets snuggles from them - when I pick her up I can tell she feels loved and is sad to leave. I know that she has been well supervised during the day and has enjoyed the social aspect of being with other dogs. Because we work every day, we can't offer this to her, so it's relieving to know that she has gotten what she needed, and we can just enjoy our time together in the evenings as a family. (We don't feel the need to bathe her when she returns either: I've heard about other facilities where their dogs return with a distinctly funky smell...) I am very impressed by the initiatives that the owners are taking to continuously improve the facility, making it comfortable while inspiring for all types of dogs. As an added convenience, they offer nail clipping in house (who has time these days to take their dog on a special trip to the vet or groomer?!), good quality dog food (again - one stop shop!) and treats among other items. Their boarding facilities in Squamish have an acre of safely enclosed outdoor space where the doggies can be doggies. We haven't used their dog walking services, but I do know that they have a number of long term, competent staff dedicated to dog walking and hiking. Their rates are very competitive. I am pleased to recommend this Daycare for anyone that is looking for a safe, clean, convenient and loving environment for their dog. read more

We had many horrible experiences at this daycare. Every single time we went, our dog came home traumatized. We learned later that she was basically crated the whole day surrounded by other dogs off leash. The owners are disorganized and appear uncaring towards the dogs. The staff, while well meaning, are very much overworked and can't monitor all the dogs in the open area, and do check-ins and check-outs. I've heard horror stories from other owners, including dogs getting their collars chewed through (how long are they without monitoring for that to take?), sweaters being ripped off, and dogs coming home with wounds. I would not recommend this place, it does not appear safe. We still have unused days that we purchased, but won't be using them. read more

Let me tell you something about Ewa. She is THE WORST dog trainer in BC I'd give it -0.00 stars if I could. My dog was treated horribly by her and he's no longer allowed to go back to daycare because of her poor assessment abilities. She claims that my dog is a vicious animal and can not be controlled. When everyone that has taken care of my dog including myself all know that he is one happy dog and all he wants to do is play. There was never a single sign of aggression. They were even stupid enough to take videos of it to give me "proof" that he's being "aggressive". Here's a known fact about dogs; when a dog is aggressive their ears would be pulled back, tails down, eyes dilated and gums are showing. In the video my dog is pulling on the leash to go towards the other dog wagging his tail, with an open posture. But guess what? Ewa doesn't command him whatsoever! So what do you think a 4 month old puppy is going to do? He's going to pull on the leash unless you tell him to stop. But instead she's choking him out and getting dragged around by her. The way dogs communicate is by sniffing each others butts to get a scent from them basically saying hi but he was just fenced off. The vibe Ewa is giving off to my dog is extremely tense and negative. And I've told them many times my dog will read you like a book. He responds by the way your vibe is towards him. This "MASTER TRAINER" only spent a few hours with him and can somehow come to a conclusion that he is not fit for daycare. When I have plenty of proof my dog is far from aggressive. Oh yeah I forgot to mention when she called me the first thing she said to me was "I heard your dog got fired from daycare today." First of all, that is extremely unprofessional and really rude to say to someone. And second, this isn't a fuckking job. And her response to that was "oh well it's just a saying." How about taking a fuckking English class and some mannerisms before opening up your mouth. She does not deserve the title "Master Dog Trainer" because she is far from it. I know plenty of trainers that are much better than her. A true dog trainer would be able to train ANY dog and have the dogs listen and obey to your commands. People like her should not be training dogs if she can easily give up on a 4 month old puppy. In addition to all this. RUFF STUFF DOG SERVICES never fed my dog, kept him separated from the rest of the dogs, he's always starving when he comes home and eats about 3 bowls of dog food and the container I give to them is always full. These guys are the worst daycare centre in the lower mainland. DO NOT bring your dog to this daycare. They don't even know how to take care of the dogs and let your dog starve to death. One employee at the daycare even made a rude comment and said "oh, he's trouble. He's just too much." Right in front of me! Uh HELLO?? in case you haven't noticed he's only 4 months old! Don't open a doggy daycare if you can't handle more than 28 dogs. It's not hard to train a puppy if you actually communicate with him instead of choking him the fuck out. read more
