The staff here was awesome. They ensured that there was no unsafe play. Which was great as a dog mom considering there was a mix of all six dogs. There is a smaller area for smaller dogs or if you are getting your fur baby used to playing with. For the human guests there is a bar area with food, including pizza, a few different alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. And of course the mandatory pup cup with a cute milk bone because what outing is complete without a pup cup. One thing to note is if your fur baby is over 1 they do require proof of being spayed or neutered. That is the ony downside for me personally because I have a smaller breed puppy and am nervous about that procedure. Other than that 4 paws up! read more

I had the most wholesome experience at Ruff Canine Club. I came here for my friend's dog's 5th birthday party. She couldn't have picked a better location for this event. This place is brilliant, it's pretty much a dog park with a bar. People can come in for free, but there is a fee for dogs (I believe it's $10 for a daily pass). They do a great job at keeping things that could stimulate dogs to a minimum. No outside food or drink is allowed. You can't bring in any toys. The "bouncer" was kind and let us bring in our friend's dog birthday gift, but we had to keep it in our bags. They even had people who would watch out for any potential issues. They would separate dogs that got aggressive with each other and make sure to refill the water bowls. There is a lot of seating available on picnic benches. I love that they had a shaded area and sunny spots. There is a green turf that dogs can play on with each other and tons of tennis balls. I adore how the dogs and humans just all hung out in this space. If you have a dog or get a chance to go, I highly recommend checking out this dog park bar. read more

My dog was a member at Ruff for several months and enjoyed his experience. Last summer, a dog started to bully him and would not leave him alone. I separated the dogs but the owner of the offending dog was extremely rude. My dog is playful and not aggressive and I watched this other dog instigate and bully my dog. I watched this dog get into fights with several other dogs as well. We cancelled our memberships and did not go back until this month. Within 5 minutes of being there, the same dog that had tried to fight my dog last time came up to my dog and was trying to fight with him. I ran over and snatched my dog away and the instigating dog set his eyes on another victim. I appreciate the referees at Ruff as they came over to make sure that he was OK. The manager, however, was not helpful at all and said that there was nothing that they could do. We were there for less than 5 minutes. At the very least the manager could have refunded our day pass as my dog clearly did not get to enjoy the park. The park is a great concept but management needs to step in when dogs are consistent offenders. It is not fair to all of the other dogs that play nicely to have a bully ruin it for everyone else. We will not be returning. read more

Love love love this place! It's RVA's first dog park that's also a bar and it's sooo cute. I don't really drink, so I'm not sure if it's a full service bar or if it's just beer, but the park is cute, clean, and pretty big. I love the social aspect for both humans and our dogs. It is membership only, but you can sign up to go on a day by day basis, you just have to create an online profile and your dog has to be up to date on al their shots. Plus, we got to get a free caricature made the day we went! read more

Listen, I know dog parks are normally free. And it feels a little bougie to subscribe to a dog park in Richmond. That being said, you will be thanking the dog gods for this place because (1) heaters in the winter, (2) dog "referees" that keep the place clean and safe, and (3) surprisingly delicious food! Everyone is super friendly here and for the most part are responsible dog owners. My partner and I did have a bad incident here where our dog was attacked by another because the owner was completely negligent (didn't even apologize afterwards) but I was so appreciative of the other owners who helped rescue my dog. Additionally there is a three strike policy where if a dog is aggressive or ill-mannered (I.e. has a humping problem), they will get kicked out. The ref that day was extremely apologetic, came over to check on our dog and gave her a free rufficcino. They are now best friends. On the food, I will say their alcoholic beverages (yes they have beer and wine!) are a bit overpriced HOWEVER their food is not. You get a lot and their flatbreads and most recently nachos are deliciously bad for me. All in all, great staff, food and vibe! read more

Wow! What a cute dog park and bar! I was a bit worried about the environment as at regular dog parks owners don't know how to control their dogs so with potential alcohol in the mix I wasn't sure how it would go. You must create a pet profile on the website and your dog must be up to date on vaccines and it needs to be uploaded into the account. You also need to purchase a membership. I bought a day pass for $10 since I don't live in the area. I made sure to arrive right when they opened at 11am so that my dig wouldn't feel overwhelmed. The grounds are very nice and I liked how there was two separate areas for larger dogs and smaller dogs. I stayed for about an hour and a half. They have rufferees to help check you in as well as making sure it's a safe and fun environment for your pet. I ended up buying a hot Spiked cider to stay warm. The menu varies from beer, wine, mulled wine, hot cider, Spiked hot cider and more. There are also treats for the dogs that you can purchase as well. Overall the grounds are very nice. You could tell who some of the regulars were. All the dogs seemed to be enjoying their time and my dog especially enjoyed the other people more than the dogs haha. read more

We love Ruff! I would absolutely visit every day if I lived closer! This is the perfect place for pet friendly pups to hang and their owners to relax! The staff is wonderful and definitely keep an eye out on all the pups which is awesome and helps helicopter dog moms like me stay at ease! All dogs must be up to date on shots and show proof, being that my pup has gotten kennel cough from other dog parks before I absolutely love this! They serve food and drinks, so the owners stay happy :) Isley FTW. Wifi is available so you have the option to work there. They have pup treats and special items for dogs birthdays! Had a membership with them for about a year but eventually cancelled as staff got lazy and my dog got bit twice by reactive dogs that they were letting in the park. I paid a membership specifically because I was told they won't let any reactive dogs and dogs not updated on shots inside. sometimes there were so many dogs that they were getting in constant fights and the staff would just blow a whistle when it was happening.. not helping at all... drinks and food got very expensive, they charged me $7 for a non alcoholic seltzer water. Genuinely the worst experience we have had in Richmond. Whatever oversight they claim to have over the dogs is simply a lie. They have a group of regulars that think they own the place and if a non-regular dog gets into it with them, you are out. The group of regulars are some of the most make-your-skin crawl people you will come across--true dog park all stars. I've never felt compelled to leave a review on Yelp before. Stopped by here for the first time on Saturday and Blueberry had an amazing time playing with new friends. Such an amazing idea that's fun for but the dogs and owners ! They even have little swimming pools. The best part is the Rufferees, they keep everyone safe and make sure dogs are behaving ! It's a great place to keep your city dog socialized. We don't LOVE the play pools but some things you have to just deal with. The pups really enjoy them and you can tell they're all having a good time. I love the attendance of the rufferies if some of the little guys get too aggressive. It's a clean and controlled place with lots of regulars and sweet, fun doggos. read more

It's a nice place to take your dog if they don't need a huge place to run. They have some shade, could use more, but the picnic tables do have umbrellas if your lucky enough to find a picnic table available. It's really nice to have the piece of mind that all dogs are up to date on vaccines and I love the fact I can have a beer and take the dogs out to have some fun and socialize! We were lucky to have live music the day we went. The down side for us is you aren't allowed to bring in your own balls ( completely understandable), but our dog only likes her own ball! Best spot to bring your pup in RVA! So much space for doggos to run around and play. Plenty of seating for everyone, TVs to keep up on sports, awesome music, wide variety of local drinks and some awesome food! Couldn't recommend a place more. My pup gets a place to run around & socialize in a safe environment. The rufferees are a plus & it is nice to know that every pup there is up to date with vaccinations. Whenever I have seen a pup misbehave, the staff handles it appropriately. The cherry on top is I can have a drink & relax at the same time. Totally worth a visit and investing in a membership. read more

We have been coming here with our grand dog since opening, we have enjoyed watching him get exercise, play with other pups he knows and new ones. My daughter and son in law and his aunt have brought him many times. We've purchased a large $$$ of concessions, our kids have numerous Fri se in the Richmond area who bring their dogs too. Tonight was his last night he can go. For 3 times now he has been attacked by an aggressive labDooble from his Churchill neighborhood named Sarge. Beware, his ow we is clueless, even told my daughter he needs training. Sarge comes in and once he sees my grand dog starts circling him then goes on the attack. My daughter had the first experience and I've had it two times this week as we are keeping him. All the other parents around us told us they saw it, Sarge was the aggressor. We left as our nerves could not take it anymore. The owner did t even try to come after Sarge either. Others pulled him off. My daughter will be alerting the Churchill neighborhood she is very close with and we will alert all her/ our friends who take dogs to Ruff. Interestingly enough our dog is all most 2 now and goes to the Woofy Ranch, daytime and over nights without issue and Pet Paradise. Keep that in mind. Finally, the owner, set up by came over and said Sarge is offended by barking herding dogs and so he attacks... are u for real... so you will have aggressive dogs at Ruff, but barkers beware!! He's a collie, the are never aggressive, they talk. In fact all the times he was just walking around, tonight he was following me to pick up another dogs poop. She's always been not the friendliest to our family and can hardly smile when she serves us concessions. We've just tried to ignore her and enjoy our friends and the dogs. We will put this everywhere we can because the owner will delete. read more
