My Dad spent his career running a printing company, poured his heart into landscaping, and discovered quilting later in retirement. Amy took the time to listen, and carefully matched the floral palette to his favorite quilt, even with very little notice. The final arrangement felt like a hug and nod of approval from Dad: familiar, comforting, and a character full of color. Our family, his printing colleagues, and quilting fans were moved beyond words.

We didn't know what to expect but knew there would be flowers to pick. We brought all of our own paraphernalia like scissors, a trug and even a vase. Leave that at home, ya'll because Anne-Marie provides all of that. One stipulation is if you have a long drive ahead of you, it might be a good idea to bring a vase. A tall paper cup is what you are provided and gets a little soggy as time passes. My kids are 5 and 3 and they both had so much fun picking flowers. We picked zinnias, sunflowers, strawflowers, daisies and cosmos. We purchased 2 bouquets and with that amount made 4 bouquets at home. It's amazing how many flowers fit in a tall paper cup. I'm not sure if dahlias are ever available but that is one flower I would love to be able to pick a bouquet of. Totally thinking of having my kids' bday party here next summer. Really such a great experience to get kids closer to nature.

I'd eyeballed SoBro Flower Co. not long after it opened at 46th and College in the same building…read morethat houses Guggman Haus and Root & Bone, though the latter is due to depart June 7th. Parking is either along the street or alongside the building. As I've noted, most of the other parking lots along here are privately owned and pretty open about the fact you shouldn't park there. SoBro Flower Co. is a sister establishment to 21 Petals in Lafayette. They are a full-service florist with flowers, wedding/funeral options, plants, chocolate (mostly DeBrand), and even some art. This particular shop benefits from having a pre-existing concrete ramp at the entryway (I believe the previous vendor - which I've completely forgotten - had it done). Prices are pretty consistent with full-service florists, and they do have delivery options. The atmosphere is very winning, and the employees are quite friendly and helpful. I found things for the most part accessible, though there is a decent amount of stuff here in the shop. I love love love the Wabash Center Rose, a special rose they have that benefits the artists and creators from Lafayette-based Wabash Center - a non-profit serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I will note the Wabash Center Rose is an "add-on" item that can't be ordered for delivery independently. This spot has had a hard time finding a business that would really stick. I have high hopes for SoBro Flower Co. with its winning mix of pleasing atmosphere, quality products, fair pricing, and terrific customer service. I'll definitely be back.

After hearing about Sip and Sow at a Yelp event, a friend and I decided to purchase tickets the day…read moreof the event. I drove 35 minutes, excited, and arrived early for the event. Once we arrived, we were told that the event was postponed until November 29. There was NO communication showing the event was canceled or postponed. I was having a ROUGH morning and was looking forward to this event as it entailed positive words of affirmations with cork screws to decorate a flower pot. We then asked for a refund and was told NO as she would consider a credit for a future event. How am I being punished for the business owners lack of communication? Maybe I was tripping or something and missed the new date. Nope. I logged back on while still at the Amp and it showed the same thing. The event was for 11/15 but to pick up the pots on 11/17. I then reached out to the owner days later letting her know that I would like a refund vs a credit or I'll be contacting my bank. She still said no. Why on EARTH would I want to do business with someone after this. Just refund me my money. I purchased my ticket at 8:45a the morning of the event. If the event was canceled or postponed, it wouldnt still show that I could pick up my item 11/17. Make it, make sense. I LOVE supporting small businesses. Especially black owned businesses. But what you wont do is play in my face, like I'm crazy.
