Dixie's Biergarten - Biergarten Smashburger & hand-cut fries

Based on our visit here earlier today we can atest to the fact that these folks received a very…read morewell deserved award for the Best Burger in Iowa 2026! All three of us (the Mrs, my Aunt, and myself) ordered the Biertgarten Smashburgers and we split an order of the Cheese Curds. The burgers were two 4oz chuck/brisket patties, fried onion, American cheese, lettuce, pickles, and Smash Sauce served on a toasted brioche bun and is FANTASTIC! Have plenty of napkins at your disposal as the flavor oozes from this burger! The hand-cut fries are a great side and very good too (I had to add some salt to put them over the top)...the Cheese Curds made it a trifecta...they were outstanding as well, crispy coating and melt in your mouth cheesyness! The servers were very helpful and ready to help out at a moments notice. Dixie's Biertgarten Smashburger has moved on to my Top 5 Burgers I've Ever Had list... It was around 3 in the afternoon and the place was packed (casual atmosphere and some sports on the big screens) so you may have to wait for a seat...there is some outdoor seating but it was raining today but FYI....it's definitely worth the time so be patient!

Seat yourself, order at the bar and receive a buzzer to pick up food. 2026 best burger in Iowa so we ordered that to share, along with a generous basket of lightly battered and delicious cheese curds. Burger was very shareable and came with fries. Not sure it's the best in the state, but it was very good. Despite being busy, food came out quickly. Great selection of local craft beers on tap. Decorah has amazing beers. Special note that the staff was very friendly. This was a great bar and grill and I can totally see why it was crawling with guests. We will be back when in town again.

Our Favorite spot in De Soto!! We stumbled upon this gem while on a weekend get away. This is a…read morelocal family owned business, new owners within the last year. Shannon and Todd are serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner every single day!! You can choose to sit in the dining room or bar. The locals are eating and hanging out here and that's all I needed to know!! They have gaming, but more importantly they have the Wisconsin pull tabs. A fully stocked bar and ice cold beers are ready for your sipping pleasure. We stopped in on 3 different occasions during the weekend. What we ordered: *** homemade hand battered fresh cheese curds- these were the best curds I have ever eaten!! For breakfast the following day: ** 3 egg omelet with fresh ham, tomatoes and cheese with a side of bacon. ** Biscuits and gravy with an over easy egg. Our food was hot fresh, and delicious. This restaurant/bar is exactly how you picture a locals place to be. Everyone was friendly, welcoming and made us feel at home. We were sad to leave as we felt like we were leaving family. This is a must stop while in De Soto!!

I wish they came in different sizes and were homemade crust. Otherwise, basic toppings, expensive add-ons, and not many specialty pizzas. Meh. The jukebox in the bar area is soooo loud. It does not "fit" the crowd of old people out trying to visit. They kept coming out to the dining area complaining it was too loud in the other room. Despite the staff's back and forth, we were not greeted or waited on for 20 minutes. We could hear them BSing in the back, but I think they forgot they were at work. We kept closing the door between the bar and dining room and the staff walking in between constantly left it open. The owners need to "read the room" and adjust the jukebox accordingly. We shouldn't have to YELL over dinner. I wear hearing aids and couldn't hear a thing! Food is inconsistent and owner-after being complimented that the food had improved since they opened only argued that it's the same food they had when they opened, which it is not. Shut up and take the compliment!

There was 2 of us, 2 eggs sausage links and toast for my friend and 2 eggs and hashbrowns for me. After 45 min we asked the waitress if she could check on our food. She said our order was next. We waited another 15 minutes. I went up to the bar and asked again. The daughter yelled across the restaurant, you saw how busy we were when you came in. My friend said we are just wondering because you are both out here talking and we've been here an hr. She then said, hashbrowns are made to order and they take a while. Our food finally came and the hashbrowns were so salty I could not eat them. The waitress was wonderful but the owner and her daughter need to work on their customer service!! We will never be back. It should never take over an hr for eggs and hashbrowns. Regardless if you make them from scratch. Yelling at customers like that is ridiculous. I understand if you are busy, but 4 orders? For breakfast? I'm all about supporting the local businesses but they lost me today for good.
