This little theater has history and is classic! Very simple but yet friendly, comfortable and entertaining. Built in 1914, it was named after Ruby Potter, daughter of Frank Potter. Original seating capacity was 225 on the main level and 125 in the balcony. The theater was equipped as a cinema and as a vaudeville house. The Ruby has been showing movies for over 90 years, and is one of the oldest movie theaters in Washington state!

Chelan's theater since 1914.

A classic, old-time theater from 1914. Very charming. We enjoyed getting out of the heat for a matinee on our visit.

OMG...this place! First off, they've been open since 2017 so why they didn't have a Yelp page yet…read moreis beyond me but anyway...WOW, I can't wait to go here again. And that's saying something, considering I live 4 hours away. The Barnyard is part cinema, part quaint bar, part amazing event venue. I was in town over the weekend with some girlfriends and we noticed they were playing the new Top Gun: Maverick. Yes, the #1 hit movie in the entire world right now was playing in little ol' Winthrop, WA on its opening weekend! Being in our middle ages we were more than happy to grab our tix online for the 8pm showing for the nostalgia factor alone, not really knowing what to expect from the movie OR the tiny theater. Well, lemme tell you, this theater is what all movie theaters should strive to be. It was small (maybe 100 seats? I'm not great at counting...), with not just theater-style seats but plush Barcalounger-type recliners which woulda been a great place to catch a nap except, it was TOP GUN and who could sleep through that? Next, they don't drop the screen until the movie starts. So while we were waiting we were treated to GORGEOUS views of the valley and snow-capped mountain peaks. It. Was. Magical. I'd be sad if I forgot to mention they have a full bar with great local beers on tap, plus snacks and (of course) the requisite movie theater candy and popcorn. I'd be more than happy to just pop in their cute little space for a cocktail even if I wasn't seeing a movie. Oh, and the sound system was great too. Highway to the danger zone, baybeeeee!

This place is an absolute GEM! We are visiting from out of state and staying in Winthrop. We passed…read moreit on the way in loved the concept and style of the building. We decided to see a 6 o'clock movie (Top Gun, which was terrific). The inside is adorable. They have a snack bar with popcorn and candy and also a bar which I believe was liquor and beer and coffee. I highly recommend making it a point to enjoy a movie here if you are visiting Winthrop!

Funny thing is I grew up in Washougal Washington right next to stinky Camas. Lol. Camas has the…read moreonly movie theater and its name was the Liberty Theater. Walking into this theater instantly took me back to my childhood. It's dang near identical. I will probably end up doing some research to see if they were built by the same franchise/owner back in the day. The ticket booth is located down the street- really that is our only complaint. For the tourist it was a very minor difficulties/confusion. But once inside I felt like I grew up here. Now I've said this and many other theater reviews- You already know that snacks, popcorn, water and sodas are outrageously priced, prepare for that and don't complain. With that ..... Spaces comfortable clean seating from what I could tell. We watched - The Joker.

This is one of the worst theaters I've ever gone to when you go inside it's like being in old times…read moreback when I was a kid it's not updated at all very little update I think they did one theater they updated a tiny bit shitty chairs still and they keep the same movies over and over and over and over how pathetic you can't update in the times and then they have very limited showings on top of that how pathetic is that I mean people like to go to the movies in the afternoon and mid morning like other places in other states The chairs are horrible I swear to God they remind me of the chairs when I was 10 years old and that would've been in the 70s currently they've had the same movie showing for almost a month how pathetic if you can't update your theater movies then won't be in business
