the worst haircut I've ever had. I had to schedule an appointment at a different salon immediately after to fix my hair.

I called first asking if they do underarm wax to which they said yes. I came in and was taken in immediately. The lady clearly had no idea how to do it and used small strips. She was slow and didn't know which way to pull off the strips. She ended up using like 8-10 small strips for some reason and then used a tweezer. She left so much hair on and said it's because my hair is too thick. I know that's untrue because I get waxes regularly and it ALWAYS comes off. She thankfully didn't charge me but I left in pain with hair still intact. I don't understand why she would tell me she does them if she clearly doesn't know how. Don't advertise that you can wax if you can't. read more

I asked for a trim - maybe an inch. He said he recommended taking a little more off. He took a good 3 to 4 inches. It's going to take forever for me to grow my hair back. You get what you pay for. If you need a trim, make sure you watch him carefully. read more

Been coming here for over 7 years but today I was 12 minutes late. Appointment was at 11:30. I arrived and was told if I'm 20 minutes late, the appointment is cancelled so I can't have my haircut. So the math is not making sense. I kept telling her it's been 12 minutes, she looks at the clock and she kept repeating the same thing like a robot. Very disrespectful and waste of time. I live in California (where everything is over priced) and I don't pay more then $15 usually. I even gave the threader a $5 tip because she did a good job, but $22 for the service is way too expensive for a service that requires thread and skill. I wanted to make sure I tipped the threader because she has some skill, but I would recommend going to Femina across the street. read more

Came in here to get my brows done. First time and the lady was sooooo nice and staff is very welcoming. I usually do my brows myself and only special occasions I get my brows done. She did my brows so nice!!! I will definitely come back for sure so she can shape them nicer UPDATE: been here a few times already and I LOVE how my eye brows come out. I always get compliments. I decided to do my lips and chin, the lady did a wonderful job. I am extra sensitive to pain and she made it hurt less. Will recommend this place. And will always come back!! Everyone was really nice but really poor job. Went in for a blow dry because I couldn't find any other place available to do it. They took me instantly. I asked for loose curls and the lady took an hour and a half and made my hair poofy. I'm not sure how you mess up a blow dry but really do not recommend. The lady was nice enough to try to fix it but i ended up taking the straightener and straightened my hair myself. read more

I'm sharing my experience here. If you love this salon, good for you. I had a horrible experience and would like to leave my review for others to take into consideration when they are considering booking here. My suggestion is don't. After my horrific experience here I cannot recommend this salon. None of the employees working here seem to know what they are doing. They come off as unsure and panicky. The two that handled me were also both rude and unsociable the entire time they spent tangling and ripping my hair. I came in for a simple updo (I asked for a simple, classic bun with a braid), they said they could do it and then proceeded to flounder and rip my hair (so much so I was actually in pain) for an hour plus while trying to figure out (then and there, blatantly for the first time) how to do an updo. They then claimed my hair was too thin for the braid to be included and left me with a bun I could have done in my own bathroom (it looked horrible - like "I-just-got-home-from-an-eight-hour-day-and-am-doing-the-laundry" horrible.). I left immediately and ran straight to Ulta, where they fixed my hair, made it beautiful for my friend's wedding (I was a bridesmaid) and included a lovely braid (with my not too thin hair). The stylists at Ulta were horrified at how this salon had treated my hair for $70. I would not go here. My feelings and experience are that they are 100% not trained in what they claim to do and will lie and rip you off. I would not trust them with anything after this (dye jobs, haircuts, etc.). I doubt they are certified in anything and they do not care that their inadequacies have a direct affect on their clients or else they would be honest about their limitations - people go to a salon to be made beautiful and to have something done that they cannot do themselves. If you can't do the job, don't say you can, and don't charge $70. Don't waste your money at Ruby Salon. I learned my lesson the hard way and was luckily able to have it fixed. read more

I used to come here all the time for eyebrow threading, have even had my hair styled a few times here. But today. I called as soon as they were open to schedule an appointment, the lady on the phone told me 3pm was perfectly fine. I get a phone call and hour before the appointment, saying that she was busy her boss was gone and there was no one else to help her. First of all I am not even blaming this lady but how UNPROFESSIONAL is it to cancel my appointment an hour prior!! How unprofessional is it to leave your employee alone on a holiday. I have been a loyal customer, and to just cancel my appointment last minute like that? How about better scheduling and time management. Better management overral. Never coming back here again. Glad I was squeezed into a new hair salon, that I will now be going to from now on. read more

The husband and wife team that own the salon are hung up on pushing services and products, regardless whether you need them or not. You are not advised of anything because they genuinely want to help you or because you could actually benefit from it, but because it's about them making $$$ at the end of the day. My friend fell for this scheme when she planned on going in for a $50 service and left spending $200! I got had too. I was quoted one price for my hair and by the end of it, ending up being charged MUCH more because they "had to" do this that or another thing. I told them that's not right but after getting no where with them, I didn't want to make a scene and paid. Knowing I won't be back! For the money I paid, I could've have gone to a Manhattan 5th avenue salon and had my hair done by experienced stylists! They are under qualified and over priced. Aggressive and pushy. Well this started out as an used Fathers Day treat. My wife wanted me to try this salon for a facial and hair cut. Finally got around to cashing in! I was pleasantly surprised not only at their services but personal interaction making me feel very comfortable. My wife comes here but this was my first time, my haircut was right on and the facial was great. Facials are something I am not use to but it was so refreshing and well done I will do that again at Ruby's salon. I needed some shampoo and conditioner which I bought for their selection. I first started going to Ruby Salon to get my eyebrows threaded. They do a great job and I'm never disappointed. One day I was there to get my roots done, and met Tanveer. He suggested that I get a Brazilian treatment to straightened my hair (I have natural curls). I was hesitant at first, but it was the best thing I've done. Not only is my hair easy to maintain, but also no more frizz!! He did my hair and told me I would get lots of compliments and he was right. I go to Ruby Salon for everything, eyebrows, wax, and hair. I just wanted to share a wonderful experience I had today at Ruby Salon. Ive been going to Ruby for over a year now to have my eyebrows threaded and I have to say they've never looked better. Because of the owners professionalism and great customer service I decided to have a facial tonight. Well the service was spectacular and I can't say enough about my skin. Usually I go to a relative's salon to get my hair done, but he has been incredibly busy and I have reached the age where I need to stay on top of my grays. I just moved to the area and decided to take my chances on a local salon. I chose Ruby's due to location and hours of operation. I called the day after Thanksgiving and they were able to get me a morning appointment. I was a bit early for my appointment and the women working were friendly and explained the hairdresser would be arriving shortly. They did a brief consult for color selection before he arrived. Pros: (1) My hair color came out beautiful, even though I wasn't quite sure how to explain what I wanted. Whatever colors he mixed, it was perfect. (2) He did a great job keeping the length while getting rid of the dead, dry ends and a subtle angle in the front. (3) I left very happy with how my hair looked. Cons: (1) The consult was brief, which worked for me because I wasn't very sure of what I wanted, or how to explain it. However, for my first time there I was a little nervous about what the end result would be. (2) They switched several times between the gentleman and young woman without any explanation or even conversation between each other. I know that it is common for hairdressers to work together on a customer, each doing different services and tasks, but I would have felt more comfortable if I had known what was happening rather than suddenly realizing someone else was working on my hair. (3) The price of the single process seemed steep (I was expecting in the $65-$80 range, but it was almost double). They must have seen my face when they told me (I should have asked ahead of time but this was an emergency appointment). The touch up price they quoted seems reasonable, though, so I will go back for maintenance. Overall, I am happy with the end result. My hair looks and feels fantastic. They didn't push any upsales on me, but I did end up buying product on my own accord. read more

This place is horrible and I would never recommend anyone to come here. The owner is EXTREMELY RUDE and her name is Ruby. Avoid her at all costs but honestly don't even come here cause they overcharge and do a bad job. They made me wait 45 freaking minutes only to get denied service that I paid for already on Groupon and then got yelled at for being upset. I really hope this place goes out of business. read more

I've had two experiences at this salon, both with the owner. First I had a Brazilian wax and while making conversation, me being naked from the waist down, she asked me if I ever had a baby and I said no, then she said my body looked like I had a baby. I don't have the best body and I guess I figured it was probably true so I wasn't terribly bothered by it. As someone else mentioned, I also noticed her double dipping in the wax. I went back next time for a haircut. She criticized the texture of my hair while she was washing it and then I got angry because I know I have healthy hair. I think she was trying to manipulate me into buying products from her. She started cutting my hair and I was thinking, "Wow, she must be an incredible artist", because she was just pulling hair in all different directions and snip snipping all over!!! Well, when she was done I was shocked at what my hair looked like. Turns out she's not an artist and my hair looked as though it was cut, just the way she was. It was absolutely crazy. All different choppy lengths all over. One side reached my shoulder and the other was about an inch and a half above it. Ha ha!!!! She wanted me to pay!! I told her I won't pay her for destroying my hair. I took my money and drove down Jericho Tpk to Panache Salon and luckily someone very good happened to be available and she fixed my hair. read more

HORRIBLE! DO NOT GO HERE! Bought a groupon for 3 Brazilian waxes and the first time I went there they did an awful job. Very unsanitary room, they double dip into the wax (health hazard) , and did not do a clean wax. The only plus is that it was not painful, but still not worth it. Since I already purchased 3 wax sessions I went a second time hoping it would be better. I had a different woman from the first time, but still just as awful. don't be fooled by the very cheap price on group on! you get what you pay for.... read more

I never loved my hair, until now. I have been going to Ruby Salon for three years now. Ruby and Tanweer tried so many times to have me do something to my naturally curly and very frizzy hair. I was always afraid and never listened, until one day, I decided to get the Brazilian Blowout Zero done here. I just can't imagine my hair without it now. I have gone back for my 3rd treatment this past week. Ruby Salon is fantastic for everything from threading, waxing, facials to hair treatments and color. I would definitely recommend it to everyone. In 10 years I have yet to find anyone I could trust more with my appearance! I have followed Ruby from salon to salon since I was in high school and couldn't have been more excited when I discovered she opened her own, because nobody can get my eyebrows as perfectly as she can. In undergrad and graduate school I moved around a bit and dreadfully regretted each new place I was forced to try for threading and waxing (Stony Brook, Queens, even Manhattan, Florida and Pennsylvania). Each time Ruby has kindly and patiently helped me fix the awkward shaping, over plucking etc that myself and others have caused & I continue to get compliments on the shaping she achieves. In fact, I recently moved to PA and I wait till I come back and visit my mom so I can go threading. As for waxing, over time, I have gone for every service aside from the face (which I leave for threading b/c I have sensitive skin) and I have always had a pleasant, VERY CLEAN, quick, minimally painful for waxing, not-awkward experience (and that is saying a lot considering I am big awkward baby). The salon is very cute, clean, efficient, warm & friendly. My best friend is a hair dresser so I don't go to salons for those types of services but I have seen quite a few smiling women in and out for hair and facials etc. The salon also has a nice collection of new OPI nail polish colors, amongst others, AND a cute selection of little bags and other fashionable gifts that I have to pull myself away from. Every female friend I have recommended continues to go back because this place really is the best (in fact if I come home after going to Ruby's my sister yells at me for not bringing her!). My only problem is I can't bring this salon to Philly. read more

i was looking for a salon or place to get my eyebrow threading because very bad and horrible experience at threading both at Macy's mall . i saw very good review for this place so i decided to go rubysalon.i went in and was out in less then 15 minutes RUBY is wonderful,she did very good job,she ask me first how i wanna see my eyebrow , SHE DID EXACTLY I WANT This is first time i got my eyebrow done like this and did not feel any pain. price is very reasonable she charge only $7. I have been going to Ruby's Salon for over two years. After a disturbing situation at my prior salon, a friend referred me to Ruby Salon. The Husband & Wife team are creative ,knowledgeable, and beyond professional. From cuts, color, Brazilian Blow-Outs my hair has never looked better, not to forget to mention healthiest its ever been. Tanveer, and his wife Ruby go out of their way to accommodate, and really make you feel special. they are honest, and go the extra mile to make ALL their clients happy. They are professional, and are constantly attending conferences to enhance their skills and expertise. They are a Premium Salon. I would highly recommend them, and disregard any negative comments on this site. My daughters also use Ruby Salon, and ,as we know, teen girls are very concerned with appearance and hair. all my girls are extremely happy after their visit to Ruby Salon. I strongly suggest against going to this place of business for any service. I came in during my lunch break with a set appointment. The receptionist wanted me to fill out a form I explained I was in a rush and she kept insisting. I purchased a Groupon and went in with the confirmation number not realizing that the voucher and confirmation are two separate identifiers. I showed the owner a screenshot of my purchase and he would not honor it, he argued with me and essentially turned me away. I did get extremely angry as I already paid for the service. I can't begin to explain how terrible this place is. Not only are the workers money greedy, they don't seem to know what they are doing! I went there 3 times total for threading and waxing. Everytime I'd leave with scars on my face and missing spots of hair. On top of that, they're overpriced compared to all the neighboring salons. Normally I don't mind paying more, but not if you're going to do a crappy job! When I tried to direct the lady on how to thread my face she said no that's no good let me do it my way... i mean, wth? It's my face and my money paying you to do this job, do it my way! They use every opportunity to charge you a couple more dollars. I do not recommend this place at all. First time at Ruby Salon and I came here for a Brazilian I purchased from Groupon. I am SHOCKED at all the reviews I am reading. If I had read before I got there I would not have went ... and I'm glad I did not read these comments because I had a great experience. First off the place at glance is beautiful clean and has a upscale look. I got my Brazilian wax from (hope I understood correctly) and women named Almon who was very informative and made me feel very comfortable under the circumstances lol. The man in the front who appeared to be the owner maybe ? He was very nice. I saw a couple of lady's leaving from getting there eyebrows done and they looked great. I'm very picky with my eyebrows but maybe I will try them out. If your looking for great customer service clean place ( despite the wax on the wall in the waxing room which someone complained in the reviews which it was minor wax and duh dealing with wax wax is sticky that's normal) and painless and comfortable waxing center Ruby's Salon is the place ! I am so happy I got the Groupon so worth it! Don't listen to the other comment guys ! Try them out before reading these comments I'm glad I did! And ask for Almon she is a sweetheart! read more

So apparently Ruby Salon responded back to my review a few years back, but I only just stumbled across it. They DID issue a certificate/gift card to my school (Walt Whitman High School) and I know that because I was the one that collected it from them in the first place,and I won it during the raffle because I bought many tickets. It was for a fundraiser I was heading called the South-East Asia Fundraiser (advised by Mrs. Martinez) that took place in 2011 during my Senior Year, which I was collecting donations and raffles for to raise money for not only flood relief, but to build schools for young girls in areas where there were no educational opportunities for them. This fundraiser had been going on for 4 years at that point, and that was the last year they ran it. I received many, many donations from many different business across Huntington, Ruby Salon included. I don't know if/how they keep records of this. At first I thought it was admirable and generous of them to donate at all, considering I had been turned down by a few places and I wasn't expecting much. However, why give if you're going to give the customer who is using it a difficult time? God, I wish I had a photo to prove they did, in fact, give me a certificate or whatever, but, silly me, I didn't think that I would need one at the time. This was my first and last time going, and when I inquired within, the $25 price is what they TOLD me. Who was I to argue with that? read more

My daughter and I, and almost everyone else we know who get their eyebrows threaded, have been coming for years. We have never been disappointed. They do a beautiful job on our brows, even when we have waited too long between visits. Most importantly, the experience is pretty much pain free, which I can't say for most places. read more

My last experience at Ruby's Salon was a disaster.. The owner Ruby has met a new all time low... Sad to think I had given this woman my business for 2 straight years to be put in danger. Would come 2x/mo. for my threading & purchasing her Moroccan oil products at a much higher price than I had found elsewhere because I felt sorry for her lack of business.. (Now I know why... ) With her client list dwindling.. I didn't think anything of it.. she still did a consistently great job so I had no reason to go elsewhere.. I would come back every week for 2 years!.. To be greeted by her friendly face every week, I was happy I had found Ruby's Salon.. Until this one final visit... One day a customer of hers had picked a fight with me for politely asking her son not to swing his numb chucks in my face.. He was only "playing" she said... and begun to threaten me with racial slurs and coming at me.. had my mother not blocked her she was going to punch me she threatened..... Her some had come 1" away from my face... mom wasn't the only one I had to worry about... with the metal stickers at the end of this "toy"... and Ruby did absolutely NOTHING to stop it.. she stood behind another customer and hid... just watched it go on... Guess she was so afraid of losing what little business she had left... she wouldn't dare turn away this belligerent customer.. And that should have been my last visit.. But..Decided to take the 2 yrs of great eyebrow threading into account and came back...I should have listened to my mother no to go.. Could not believe she would allow a customer to put another customer's life in danger.. so I came in for my usual lip & eye brow thread, to open my eyes to a stick of wax she was lowering onto my eye brow... Can you imagine how shocked I was! She had the nerve to say that I had asked for it... something I, having severely sensitive skin problems would NEVER ask for.. I'm a regular customer who always gets the same thing.. she knew about the skin problems I had .. Im no longer wondering why the customers disappeared... one by one.. and then myself... How could you charge one of your only customers for something they never asked for... And she had the nerve to say that I had asked for it.. If I hadn't opened my eyes.. it would have been done... up until then she had always done a terrific job on my eyebrow & lip threading making it painless.. massaging my temples was also great afterward.. no charge.. I did not deserve to be treated the way I was. Am not surprised to see how very few customers she had.. The place is always empty.. Am still looking for a new place in the area.. it's a shame because she always did a great job. read more
