Ruby is the best! I always feel like I am being treated like a royal princess when I make an appointment for a mani-pedi and arrive at the shop. A pedicure for me is similar to an appointment with a podiatrist, as I have continuing issues with ingrown toenails. I arrive with some pain, and leave with clean happy feet to travel wherever I please , and even feel lighter too. Ruby and her staff care about the quality of their work. I want to share the terrible experience I had this past Saturday in the hopes the owner reads it and realizes customers should be treated better. Attached is a picture of my fingers because I want to show why I was complaining about the burning pain throughout my gel manicure. The manicurist who did this supposedly has been working at the salon for 6 six years. The burning became so intolerable that on three separate occasions I asked to leave but the owner came and salvaged the work. Perhaps the owner did this so that they can charge me the full amount plus a hand massage. She made me feel better by putting my number into her phone so that I can text her the next time I was coming so she would do my nails. Why am I so angry right now...because she never sent the text and I could barely wash my hair from the stinging pain coming from my fingers. read more

I love this salon: clean, cheerful, and meticulous work! I get gel nails and pedi with callous remover and once in a while treat myself to expert shoulder massage. I usually have a book or headphones, but never use them, because it's so relaxing just to sit for awhile. I'd tell you my faves, but then they'd be booked. Look at the state of the shaping etc. I got butchered on front and back of big toe as well as the toe next to it. House of horrors. Im horrified. Im going to them tomorrow to show them wat they did. Everything is an upsell- if you don't pay extra, they will wipe lotion on each arm and down each shin and that's the end of the massage. No extra callous removal? Two swipes of the scrubber on each heel. Of all the local places, this was the least service at the same price! read more

If I could give it a NEGATIVE star I would!!! Avoid this scam of a place. I have gone to many places in Palisades for my nails and never had this issue until now! First off; the women made me bleed and I said ok fine; second she didn't do my nails the shape I came with. Any color I wanted for gel they didn't have; and the color I wanted wasn't the real color. The second day my nails started to get loose and yes loose !!! Keep in mind this acrylic gel fill which should be even stronger. I let Ruby nails know after more than 2 started to get loose and come off and the manager said when she gets back she will deal with it, which was complete bullshit!!! Why would I want to come back to somewhere that made me rip through my skin, bleed and all I wanted was just the$70 back. Did not ask for more and didn't ask for a refund. I got ignored; disrespected and lied to. All I wanted was my money back to go somewhere else not for fake stuff. I never put a bad review but this is the first time I felt like it really truly deserved one. I even said if you issue me a refund I will not escalate this. read more

The owner, Ruby, is a perfectionist when it comes to nail care and she demands the same of her staff. Ruby herself gave me my manicure today and her attention to detail around my not-so-perfect nail beds was amazing. Ruby has done a good job in the design of the space too, it's very simple and beautiful with a relaxing vibe. By the way, on top of a great manicure and pedicure today, I also got an amazing foot and leg massage by Jennifer! Highly recommend for a clean, beautiful and professional nail salon. The massage chairs are amazing and the price is right. I left here feeling like I had done yoga, meditation and chi gong but the truth is I'd worked a 12 hour day and just got a $15.00 manicure. Stoked! I don't like the clientele the place attracks. All the other customers were rude douche bags but the staff made up for it with their polite greetings and smiles. (Like, why are people complaining about soaking? That's the first step for callus remove, right? RIGHT!) PS. The manicurist didn't comment on my extreme winter gardener cuticles which I appreciate because I'm already aware of how gnarly they are. read more

Ok yes this place is gorgeous and clean inside and they do have a wide selection of colors, but like others have mentioned, they are so slow. My girlfriend and I came around 2pm on Sunday for mani/pedis (no gel) and we picked our colors and were seated a couple minutes later. We sat and sat and sat and I was fine because I had the nice massage chair and my feet were soaking, but we seriously sat there probably 20 minutes before anyone started on us. My girlfriend had one girl doing her toes and one doing her hands so she was finished well before I was, Ruby did her pedicure and it looked great. I had gels on my nails previously so my gal wrapped my nails with the tinfoil and the whole thing to remove them while she worked on my pedicure. She left the foils on so long that my nails actually warped and my fingertips swelled so bad that the side of my nails were digging in to my skin! I finally took the foils off myself. The pedicure looks ok, but her file job was horrific on both my toes and my fingers, super uneven, and at present (Wednesday), three nails have already chipped. My girlfriend wasn't given a foot massage at all (WHAT!?) and was given a very brief and pathetic arm massage. I opted for the extra five minute massage (she had already done a good job on my arms/hands for what was included) and it was only $5.00 extra...SO WORTH IT. She was super strong and really loosened me up. My pedicure included the normal foot massage but I was irritated my friend didn't get hers when we paid the same. I had to ask my gal several times to fix certain nails because they were unevenly painted or filed, so that's irritating, but she gave a mean massage and was really sweet. I wouldn't return here. Not worth the wait. The price was reasonable, my mani/pedi/gel removal/extra massage came out to around $50.00 read more

I have been getting my nails done in Santa Monica and wanted to find a local place in Pacific Palisades where I live. I tried out three different salons (there is quite a selection in the Palisades area) before settling at Ruby's Nail & Spa. I like the spacious feel and beautiful color decor. The massage chairs are comfortable and soothing music plays in the background. Ruby and her staff have great attitudes and do excellent work. Ask for Helen, I like her a lot. Yeah! Sloppy work. Lousy pedicure. All smiles and no skill. Lousy foot massage. Rough filing. I had to coach them through what I needed done, which wasn't much. Remove old polish and give me a clear coat on nails. Clearly you have to know the right aesthetician to get the right work. Cost nearly $50!!!! Not worth my time. Or yours!! I really wanted to give Ruby 5 stars but unfortunately I cannot. I went in to get a simple quick manicure ($15) but it took well over an hour with a bill for $25. First what you need to know about the '5 minutes' wait : that's what they welcome you with .... After repeating this 4 times by 4 different girls (4x5minutes), they finally sit me on a chair 20 mts later .... The manicurists spoke practically no English. Unfortunately my Vietnamese is non existent , therefore I couldn't communicate with her. She enthusiastically starts rubbing my hands, arms , shoulders , neck, even further down my back ( weird as I was fully dressed and sitting in a stiff chair ). 30 minutes since I came in, my nails still untouched... I start looking at the clock and I ask her to please stop and start with the manicure .... Which 30 mts later was done. It was ok. Another 10 mts to dry my nails and the bill comes charging for massage etc... The salon is new and clean and the nail job was fine but beware of the '5 minutes' wait and the massage scam ! :( read more

My wife went to Ruby's today and saw they were giving in-store massages. My wife asked if they were abiding by Mayor Garcetti's COVID rules and Ruby's said YES. This was a lie! No further openings for massage salons were made, especially not for in-store service. I checked the city website after-the-fact. At the time, my wife went ahead with the massage, and there was no distancing, and the worker did not wear gloves. My wife and I have been very diligent regarding potential COVID exposure, and we're hoping this unfortunate deception on Ruby's part does not lead to an infection. read more

I asked for a manicure in the spa chair so I could get a massage. I just wanted to use the massage chair but they were pushy about me getting a neck massage so I tried it. $1 per minute. Manicure $15, massage $30, parafin $7. The manicurist was good but she couldn't stop sniffling. Then 2 days later my nail started peeling off. This is literally the worst fucking nail salon to have existed . PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!! I went yesterday with a friend and the people were rude , and didn't listen. The lady was extremely rough with my nails and hands . Her products were USED AND DIRTY . I REPEAT USED DIRTY AND DISGUSTING. Her nail file already had scratches , indents , and nail remnants on it . The alcohol that she used on my mail , half of the cup was already filled with alcohol that she used on SOMEONE ELSE'S NAILS. Oh and when she went to clean my nails off , she used an INDUSTRIAL VACUUM. Are you kidding me ? She put the nails on without even sizing them, and was about to cut them really short and i had to go out of my way to tell her to stop and to please make them longer. She proceeded to complain . She was going so fast and careless, that she made multiple mistakes on my nails and I tried to correct her many times for a service I paid 100 DOLLARS FOR and she pretended to not hear me . Then, she used all the same products on my friends nails . DISGUSTING. when I first for to the counter, it was disgusting . Not wiped off, no nor sanitized . And heres the worst part . She left my friend to go use a nail file on a woman's dirty feet , wasn't wearing gloves , then came BACK dusted off her hands and continued to try to do my friends nails . I was so disgusted I told her no and that we wanted to pay . She said "oh so no tip ? No tip ? No tip ? " and I said no what you did was disgusting and wrong . I then left , and really took a look at my nails . She had shaved all the paint on the side off , the nail Polish was uneven , and both of my middle fingers looked absolutely horrible. Not to mention I had to pick out shavings from underneath my nails which she was supposed to do . I was so upset that I wound up calling an hour later . I asked to speak to the manager and the SAME WOMAN had lied to me saying she was the manager. She then proceeded to argue with me telling me I was lying , even though I had proof . She refused to give me a refund and kept telling me shed fix them. I told her what she was doing was disgusting and I could sue her for it . Then she told me she'd get the manager, and she never called me back . I am going there today . This is absolutely fucking ridiculous and DISGUSTING. Last night , I couldn't sleep . I stood up all night crying because my hands were in so much pain . I don't know what she did but she fucked up bad and I am in the worst pain I have ever been going to a fucking nail salon. Just a serious warning, their practices are disgusting, their area isn't clean, and they use dirty products which could lead to infection , hepatitis b , salmonella , aids , and much more. Best pedicure I have ever had! Callus removal, sea salt scrub, and paraffin wax for 37$ (before tip/tax) and I would've honestly paid 60 for it because it was so amazing. I could tell she really cared and how I liked it and you can pay extra for a shoulder massage which I might do next time. We need one of these spas in San Diego because I'm beyond impressed!
