A very disappointing experience and future customers beware. We arranged our family move from the US to the UK with Ruby International and have been extremely disappointed with their service. We were threatened into paying unjustified costs, without providing any evidence of the additional fees. At best they have been incompetent, at worse a scam. We were made aware that the shipping schedule could change in the weeks leading up to loading and purchased flexible flight bookings to accommodate this. The date was booked and Ruby confirmed everything was going as expected up until the morning of the loading. However, what we did not expect was to be emailed during the loading process that there was a week delay in the shipment and we could be liable for storage costs. It seemed extremely unfair that we would be liable for these extra costs for such a late change. As we were travelling back to the UK with two small children we relied to Ruby to manage this and mitigate any costs either with the shipping company or minimise them with the truck company. Unfortunately they did nothing to this effect. Four weeks later, Ruby sent us a invoice for payment as our container was preparing to depart the US. This cost was $2100 higher than we expected due to a number of charges; including storage fees (for the change of shipping schedule on the day of loading), storage fees for the day of and the day before loading (unexplained) and the cost of returning the trailer to the depot (unexplained). We replied to Ruby explaining we were happy to pay the quoted amount but wanted some explanation and evidence of the $2100 of extra charges. We were then threatened that if we did not make the full payment immediately they would place a hold on our shipment and we would incur further charges at the port; any dispute of the invoice would result in a hold and extra charges. We pushed Ruby to justify the invoice and shared our disappointment in how this was being handled. With no choice we made the payment and trusted our container would continue to the UK and Ruby would not threaten us with any further costs. Our belongings arrived mid May and the UK based company responsible for managed the final leg were brilliant. We've repeatedly requested evidence from Ruby but they are yet to provide anything to justify their invoice, prove that the shipping delay was real or the storage fees were genuine. They have also refused to provide any explanation as to why they didn't mitigate any costs (for example leaving the container on a chassis at $300 per day rather than arranging to free up the chassis). They have also not provided an explanation why we were liable for such a late change or the charges not included in the original quote. I invite Ruby to explain to any future customers who might be reading this why these charges and this treatment of they're customers is justified. They changed the price they had given me as a quote, but the worst thing, and what terrified me the most, was that they dropped my SKUTT ceramic oven and it arrived completely broken inside and then they didn't acknowledge anything. DO NOT use Ruby International. My husband and I used Ruby International to move three boxes of personal affects from Philadelphia to Oxford, UK. We carefully packed up all of our clothes, shoes, and artwork and were assured that this company was legitimate and would safely deliver our things. When they arrived, one box was completely destroyed. It had been ripped open and retaped several times. Of the eight pairs of shoes I shipped, six were missing one of the shoes. Several other personal items were missing altogether. When I emailed the company to try and resolve the issue, they wrote back, effectively blaming me, saying that it must have been my fault for overpacking the box. They made no effort to compensate for the damages. Stay away! Attached is an image of a condescending, unsympathetic response from their customer support. I had given up on getting any compensation, but when they started texting ads to my mobile number after assuring me it would only be used for necessary order-related information, I had to show them my review. However, when it got to panama, our items were unpacked and clothes were transferred from a wardrobe box to flat boxes so all of our freshly dry cleaned clothing was so wrinkled they were unearable. In addition,we paid for insurance with the insurance people ruby was affiliated with called pac global and they were an absolute nightmare to work with. We paid someone to determine fair value on the many items they ruined and they simply denied the claim on all but a few items. Probwbly 20 percent of our entire claim. We finally settled for a vey small amount and it still hasn't been paid after over two months. They wanted their money right away and yet when it comes to the insurance we paid for, we are left hanging. read more

I know that the time lapsed with making a claim, but for such a large company, I still think you should have compensated me for the clothes, linens, and many collector scrabble and monopoly game boards. the workers that did the packaging of my goods were very good, but ethically your company is unreputable. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, unless you want your stuff to go missing / be damaged. I contracted Ruby International to move us from the East Coast of the USA back to Bristol in the UK, and it was a disaster from start to finish. We contracted Ruby to export wrap and move our possessions, as well as doing all the import paperwork. Here are some of the issues we experienced: Team sent not big enough to pack Not long enough allowed to properly export pack (originally Ruby were going to send a team for two days, but reduced this to one day at the last minute. I expressed concern about this, but they assured me this would be sufficient time. The crew sent made it clear that they only had one day because Ruby did not want to pay for the overnight stay for the crew) Team sent not proficient in packing. Many boxes half full, many items inappropriately packed, with unwrapped glassware next to other kitchen equipment, unwrapped paintings placed on top of clothes etc. My husband and I ended up taking apart beds and packing items ourselves (despite paying them over $11k) as the crew became stroppy, started shouting at each other, and just weren't packing our stuff Many items not wrapped at all, and just thrown into the container As there was an issue with the container being released, Ruby sent a removal lorry and repacked our items into the container later. They miscalculated the size of lorry required, and packed things so badly (half full boxes, legs not removed from tables etc) that they couldn't fit everything in. They then indicated that they would charge us to pick up the remaining items / asked if we really needed the items left behind ... in the end they picked it up and didn't double charge us, but this was after a great deal of stress Items missing Items damaged Boxes overfilled and extremely heavy, which resulted in some of them splitting Incomplete inventory that was impossible for the UK removal company to use Removal crew in the UK commented that it was one of the worst packing jobs they'd seen. They were unable to use the inventory to see if anything was missing, so ended up just counting the boxes / other items off the container I paid $125 for a crate for a valuable painting. No crate was used. Ayal, one of the directors, assured me prior to engaging them, that every single one of our possessions would be treated with the utmost care, and that they wanted to provide 'excellent', not just 'good' customer service ... evidently this was an empty sales line I have asked Ruby International on multiple occasions for a refund for the crate and for a plan for compensation. They have now agreed to refund the money for the missing crate, however are unwilling to provide other compensation, or even issue an apology. I used britannialanes.co.uk on the way out to the States and they were excellent. I WISH I'd found someone like them for the way back too. Lares, the company that did the UK side of our relocation back to the UK was also extremely good, I would recommend them. read more
