There so many thoughtful touches, a pathway for my dads wheelchair, mulch barriers from my neighbors wild flowers, storage for our kayaks. The transformation was huge, it's like a whole new house. Gairy was incredibly kind, easy to work with, and very responsive throughout the process. Pricing was also very reasonable for the amount of work completed. We're extremely happy with the results and would highly recommend them.

Third job: (Last fall) paid for manual pulling/removal of Bermuda grass from garden beds, plus weed control and mulch. Emphasis on manual removal - explicitly was told they would pull all the Bermuda out manually to get all the roots out. Took a bit of chasing around to get them to actually get it on the books, and then when they did come they just buzzed everything with a string trimmed and sprayed weed killer over that. We agreed to still pay the full price on the condition that Gairy would send a team out in the spring once the Bermuda woke up and inevitably came through the mulch since it wasn't removed. He agreed, and we left it at that. Flash forward to this year and has completely ghosted us and been non-responsive. Even tried asking about having a bunch of other services added so that it wouldn't be a totally free trip, but still No luck. We finally gave up on any hope of getting the promised services, hired Mr. Outdoor Living, dropped like $4K on services with them instead and will be sticking with them next year when we do a sprinkler system and stone retaining walls.

Justin and his entire crew( Eric, Brandon and David) did an amazing job. They were very professional, continuously made me aware of all aspects of the work being done and all worked hard on my front yard landscape project, which greatly 100% improved my home curb appeal. The Plant Guys have several good teams and I'm looking forward to having future back yard landscaping project completed.

He agreed with a few, but not all. He said he knew what would look good, which after thinking about it, I thought was a bit arrogant. We agreed on the final planting, and set a date, then he emailed me that he could not find the perennials I wanted, and we would have to wait until the fall to plant the rest. I wanted to finish the plantings, so I suggested we look at other ideas. We went back and forth many times, he suggesting some, me saying no, and vice versa. Then I began to get complaints--things like, "I'm running out of ideas", or my favorite "This is taking up more time than my $10,000 and $20,000 jobs I have scheduled, and I can't make any money." As the home owner, I have the right to have a garden that I will enjoy, so who wants to hear complaints from someone that you hire? We eventually finalized everything, and set a date. His crew was great! Friendly, knowledgeable, and did a great job--garden looks great. They solved my drainage problem, so I no longer had the threat of water destroying my plants. That was the initial plantings. The crew that came in to finish the 2nd set of plants wasn't so hot. They neglected to put down mulch, and living in the South, you have to have it, so I had to buy it myself and spread it. I asked them about it, and they said Nick said not to--mystery to me. This is not the cheapest landscaping company in Charlotte NC, but they had such grand reviews, I decided to go with them. I'm hoping I can make my garden grow, as I've not had luck in the past, but I'm not even going to bother asking for replacements if some of them die, as the 1-year warranty is iron clad with watering requirements, pest control, soil issues, etc.

We should have never had to deal with these issues from this builder and land development company, but that is subject outside this specific review. Outdoor Contracting was exceptional in how they investigated the many issues, devised remediation plans, and then meticulously implemented them in the most challenging of winter and early spring wet weather conditions. Our problems were vast and directly damaging to our brand new house foundation. The project involved necessary tree removal, approximately 200 truckloads of soil, deep trenching, regrading many areas of the property, installation of protective berms, installation of large commercial sized underground drains attached to several surface catch basins, and regrading around the house foundation to achieve positive slope along with related added foundation waterproofing. A combination of rip rap and river rock was brought in around installed drainage culverts and protective berms, which routes all previously uncontrolled rainwater dumped onto our property from all sides and the previous foundation flooding water directly into the community storm drain system. At various points of this project new issues were uncovered that had to be solved. The team would immediately engage us for onsite meetings to review the problem and approval for any additional solutions. Once all the extensive drainage and grading engineering solutions were in implemented, Outdoor Contracting installed irrigation and electrical conduits ahead of the landscape install. The landscaping/beautification phase was such a relief and joy. We coordinated with the team on extensive large/mature sized hedging along all the installed berms, dozens of large trees, numerous ornamental trees, and tons of beautiful perennials. We also had fescue sod installed on approximately 2/3 off our new designated lawn area, which was done in June. This is not an ideal time of year to install cool season sod, but Outdoor contracting made sure we had an effective irrigation schedule setup and treatments like kelp and fungicide to prevent loss. We ended up having the greenest, healthiest lawn this summer in spite of temps in the upper 90s. We also had them install a high quality wood encasement fence at the back of the property. They used 6x6 posts and screws vs nails to ensure the fence would withstand the test of time. They then also installed a beautiful stone walk path from our driveway to our back porch. We have already discussed some fall and winter projects with the team to complete additional landscaping items that we simply ran out time to complete earlier. Everything this company has done for us has been to the highest standard. These men worked in cold, rain, and endless amounts of deep mud. They endured harsh weather conditions and occasionally some ridiculous nonsense by a couple foul acting persons interrupting their work. Opposite of that nonsense, they loved talking and sharing with various interested parties who stopped by to positively inquire on progress and ask specific questions about the landscaping. We owe our peace of mind to this company. Where once we walked our property and looked outside our windows in complete and utter despair, we now have relief and pride. If you want these type of projects done correctly, permanently, and beautifully hire Outdoor Contracting. We could not recommend this team more highly. https://www.facebook.com/tiff.hawks/posts/pfbid02hFTaQEbU7E64maHmwXzri5LMcCWu4j6QPojAZvQW9FpKw39rwNnU8x5MiMQuVaJ7l

The next day I got a text that Raheim would call did shortly and he did! We planned for him to come over the next day and assess the situation. The next day Raheim came over and we walked the yard. He understood my concerns about the fallen tree and planned to take it. He also recommended trimming and removing other trees. The office shared estimates for three projects and we booked to have the fallen tree removed and trees trimmed the next day. Raheim and the team showed up and got right to work. The tree was cut up and removed and the trimming was done in less than two hours! You'll see in the pictures that our yard looks great and is super tidy. I cannot recommend Elephant Trunk and Raheim enough. He's super friendly and professional and doesn't try to run up the price. The team is great and very respectful of your property. We will definitely use Elephant Trunk again. We're moving forward with our second project next week - more pics to come!

He said he could call his crew in and start right away. We were hesitant since it was late but Raheim was adamant he and his team could get it done. He started on our front trees while he waited for the crew. By the time they got here it was getting dark. I again expressed concern to Raheim and he again insisted they could get it all done before it got dark. By the time they finished the front and went to the back, it was difficult to see. I again suggested we reschedule to finish as what needed done was close to our house and shed and I worried something would get damaged. Raheim said no they would finish it and asked me if I had a spotlight. A spotlight. I looked over and noticed one area was VERY bare; the crew had cut down a tree Raheim and I agreed would stay. I was upset and insisted they stop since they couldn't see and to come back Friday the 19th to finish the job. Raheim said he would replace the tree and sent us information of where to select the item Raheim was supposed to pick up our replacement tree he agreed to buy Thursday. Friday, he says he will be there by 9:30am. 8:55am he asks if we had picked out our tree then recommended not planting it until a month later (see photos) I was working from home but went out to meet the crew at 9:45am and make sure they knew what needed to be cleared out. They were not clear on what all needed to go. Raheim showed up around 10:30am, informed me if I wanted my back sunroom roof completely clear of tree limbs that we would need to pay more. I was told clearing the limbs showed more limbs higher up and that would cost more. As the professional, I would have expected him to bring this to my attention prior to agreeing to clear our sunroom. Raheim said he was going up front for a smoke...and I never saw him again. I was stuck trying to work while supervising his team to make sure the job was done. To top things off, when his crew finished, I thanked them and asked if Raheim would be coming back for payment. They called him, he called me and said he'd be back "later in the evening" to pick up the check. He showed up at 2pm looking for the check (see photos). I really enjoyed meeting Raheim and his energy and know-how was very marketable. However, that is where the professionalism ended.

They were rated 5 on Yelp but I had no connection or felt they had any concern about my problem after viewing my photos. One company spent 15 minutes and never sent an estimate. The other company spent 10 minutes and quoted a price of purchasing another home. Plus I would have been in violation with the Army Regulatory guidelines if I allowed them to do the work.
