There were eco-concious, fair trade toy items and teethers and even items that were handmade on Nantucket. I asked her where she did her shopping and she said Petite Travelers. I was pregnant at the time... Fast forward a few months later and I'm planning my own baby shower. I had no problem putting a registry list together with one of the employees here. The selection of clothing and baby items clearly shows that the owner has done her research! You won't find any cheap plastic junk in this store, only items that were responsibly designed and produced and that are known to last. Prices are very reasonable too! I was expecting to pay "island tax" (the extra cost associated with bringing merchandise over to an island) but the prices were the same or comparable to what you would pay for the same item online. And with their fall sale (everything is 35 - 50%), everything is a total bargain right now. As an island native, I haven't had the need to rent baby equipment or use their other services so this review is exclusively based on the retail store, but based on the selection and the customer service I received from 2 different employees and the owner, I would highly recommend their services to any friends that are visiting the island and want to travel light. Lastly, my baby shower was last weekend, and it was very clear who shopped where! The gifts from Petite Travelers were the envy of the other mothers and passed around the most :) Some of the favorites included organic crib sheets, a Brio dachshund pull toy, a beautiful collapsible toy chest with a whale on it, and a handknit baseball rattle from Peru.
