The prices they sell their items for are very reasonable too. This can get very very busy everday around lunch time but they do have quite a few staff on to cope with the lunchtime rush. You're faced with amaretto chocolate cupcakes topped with edible gold, huge praline meringues, and slabs of brownies. Stepping inside, it feels a touch chaotic, but it sort of (sort of) adds to the charm. We visited on two occasions - naughty - and had a raspberry bakewell slice, pecan nut brownie, the aforementioned chocolate cupcake, and a huge slice of sponge cake with raspberries and limoncello sauce. Service on the first visit was much quicker than the second; our cakes were selected, popped into a white box and stickered ready for us to go on our merry way. Our second visit and there was only one person behind the counter, doing his best but struggling slightly under the demand! I hope that Two Magpies doesn't fly away too soon; Southwold is changing in many respects and, as long as the prices don't shoot up much further, I think they've found a good niche to sit in.

They receive a fair amount of foot traffic--though there are one or two storefront parking spaces--and have both indoor and outdoor seating. I've either popped in for a takeaway pastry (there is a good selection of freshly baked breads and cakes) or for a brief dine-in bite from their cafe menu. Most notably, this spot is one of the only places in town that I've been able to find a decent artisan sandwich, which is why I've sometimes gone out of my way to return!
