I have been here twice for friends. The property is well maintained and the staff are very professional.

I always dread going to Swan Lake Cemetary because in the past it has been a total mess. This year I was quite surprised that the location Pond was in excellent shape. All the flags and the poles were pristine and the grounds were well groomed... probably the best I have ever seen. As We were leaving we sound the grounds keeper working up front and I had to stop and give him kudos for the work he is doing there. He said it is under new management and this is only the beginning of what is to come. Thank You sir... keep up the excellent work.

This place is a f#@$#ing joke. I know because I used to work there. Worked there for 26 years. They…read morenever had equipment worth a crap in order for me to do my job and they would never get me any help to get the job done and when they did the guy wouldn't stick around long cuz they wouldn't pay them a decent wage. They didn't pay me a decent wage either. Which is also why I didn't do much. They were so cheap that they wouldn't even buy a lift for the mausoleums to put the bodies in the proper place . They would just put them on the lower shelves or most of them went on the floor. Don should have his medal publicity stripped from him cuz he is the most dishonorable man I've ever met and Virginia ain't any better. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING. THEY WILL ROB YOU.

Horrible, and sketchy practices!!! Does not accept credit cards as payment only cash or certified…read morecheck. We live out of state and they wanted us.to wire transfer funds from our account to the funeral directors PERSONAL bank account. I have never hear of anything remotely close to this. Refused to release death certificates unless we drove over 12 hours to come into their business to sign a release form. What?!?!? Wouldn't email the release so it could be signed and emailed back, so we could receive the death certificates from them. I would never recommend this atrocious place of business to anyone. Will also be filing formal complaints about their business practices with the board of funeral directors and embalmers. Primary roll of a GOOD funeral home and director is to help the family while dealing with a very emotional and stressful time, not add to it.

If I could give this 0 stars, I would. My Grandfather paid this company $10,000 in 2006 for him and…read morehis wife of 67 years to be buried. When his wife passed away in October and we went to the funeral home they were rude and unprofessional and told us that $10,000 didn't cover any of the services and we had to pay another $2600 for her to be buried. Then the day of the funeral they were completely unprofessional. They stood around outside while the family and friends entered the church and did not greet anyone or help out at all. Then when they went to close the casket they stood in front of a church full of family and friends while they took all of her jewelry and belongings off of her in front of everyone which was awkward and uncomfortable for all attendees. After the service when everyone was ready to go to the cemetery we were informed that they had forgotten to make the phone call to have the grave dug and we had to push it back until the next day. In turn, family had to take more time off work and friends could not make it back the next day. When we got to the grave site we were told by an employee of the company that digs the graves that this is not the first time that this company has done something like this to other families. My poor 96 year old Grandfather and the rest of our family was put through so much unneeded emotional distress during this already difficult time. I would NEVER recommend ANYONE to use this company even if it was 100% FREE! The Colonel and his wife CLAIM to run this business for the benefit of veterans and out of the good of their heart but all they are doing is scamming people. They are now trying to PROSECUTE my 96 year old grandfather for stopping payment on the $2600 check after we told them we would NOT pay for the horrendous service that we received. THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE!!! STAY FAR AWAY!!!!

If you have been unfortunate enough to have to make funeral arrangements you have probably had the…read moredispleasure of coming face to face with some to the sleaziest and shameless individuals you might ever meet. Most have no qualms about playing on your grief and weakened state to hit you with markups and up charges. If you are in a place where you can pay attention to details you quickly learn that you should never order anything (flowers, catering, car service, etc) from the funeral home. They tend to average 200% - 800% markups. This is especially true where the casket is concerned. Luckily for me a friend had been though this and pointed me to this business. Direct Casket Outlet despite the sound of its name is a small locally owned business. It is a bit out of the way to find, but worth the trip. The husband and wife that own it handle pretty much everything them selfs so there is little risk of anything falling though the cracks. They were patient and understanding. It was very clear that their only focus was on what we needed and what they could do to help us. Not only did they NEVER push us to spend more they actually talked us into spending $1000 less! Let me repeat that. They knowingly gave up an additional $1000 just because they did not believe it was in our interest to spend it! That is a VERY rare thing to find any more. This is not anything I look forward to going though again, but when it does happen this where I will be going. Not just for the casket, but for recommendations for funeral homes and anything else we might need. I was that impressed and trust them that much!

Recently I suddenly lost my younger brother who is a single father of three children ages 18, 14,…read moreand 12. After learning the devastating news my mother and I began the horrible task of funeral planning. At the time we were deciding between a casket or a cremation. His oldest son accompanied us to the casket store but we told him to wait outside in the car.. As my mother and I sat down at the table with one of the owners (the older one) he was very abrupt in speech and did not seem at all sympathetic to our situation. For him it was business as usual I suppose. When we told him we may need a specialized casket b/c my brother happened to be obese, the older owner said, "Oh yeah, I heard we had a big boy in. How much did he weigh? Whew!!!" "That's a big dude!" My mother and I gasp at his boldness. By that time my nephew had walked in to ask a question and heard what the owner said. My nephew said, "How rude!" and walked back out. A phone call was made to the funeral home that held my brother to find out what size casket would be needed to accommodate the bigger size. Again this owner was very uncaring in his demeanor and non nonchalant as to whether he would be able to help or not. About that time some more customers came in and he turned his attention away from us and went to go help the incoming customers. The younger co-owner took over from there. I voiced my concerns about the behavior of the older owner. There were apologies on his behalf, however we did not feel the need to purchase any items from the casket store. We left the store feeling bruised and insulted. I don't plan to step foot in store again.
