The shop immediately caught our attention - it is beautifully arranged, very aesthetic, and feels like a small gallery full of natural treasures. The selection of stones, minerals, and jewelry is stunning, especially the large amethyst geodes and softly lit pieces that create a truly calming atmosphere. We were also very pleasantly surprised by the staff. The lady who assisted us was incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We felt very comfortable and at ease there. We left with several beautiful items - jewelry, stones, decorative pieces, and other unique finds that will always remind us of this special visit. If you find yourself in New Orleans, I highly recommend stopping by. It's a place with a truly special atmosphere where everyone can find something meaningful.

I've been noticing I turn way more heads as I carry the gris gris around in my purse. If you're a woman- various books say keep it in your bra or on your left side. If you're a man- right side. I put my my crush's name on a petition in red ink with a Song of Solomon verse underneath annointed with the oil, carried the bag around, and BAM! I've seen other reviews say their stuff is overpriced or they're not Voodoo or Hoodoo centered (which they're not) but it doesn't mean it doesn't work! I think their prices are pretty fair and their packaging is really nice. The lady at the store (might've been Christina) was really helpful and reassuring with helping me pick out my products. She said they work and she was right! Thank you SO much! I will order online or in person when I visit NOLA again :)

I was so drawn to "Exu the Trickster doll" that I put it on my Christmas Wishlist, but nobody got him for me. Flash forward to end of September 2026, I went to visit NOLA with my best friend for my birthday. There was one place that was a must-see: Voodoo Authentica. I came unsure if I still believed in magic and left a believer. The tradition and magic is so alive in the people and objects in the store. I ended up getting my Exu doll and set up an altar for him when I got home. The store has an aura unlike any other Voodoo store in the French quarter. I got a reading from Raven which was such a beautiful experience, she made me a custom anointing oil. Papa Zaar read my palm as I was shopping and made a super accurate comment. I got great guidance on how to use the oils. I had a spiritual guidance phone session with Papa Zaar which was super helpful when cultivating my practice. An hour after I got off the phone with him a spell that I tried worked! The readings are really worth the money, value, and affordable. I can't wait to visit again- my #1 pick for all things Voodoo (the real deal)!

When we walked in there was a film crew, recording a video. The woman at the front desk immediately snapped and said "we are filming!!!" First of all...if you need it to be quite close early or put a sign on the door stating you're filming. Boom. But then to be rude on top of it?! Yikes. I was actually planning on spending a lot here but given the treatment I was totally turned off by the behavior. Weirdly enough a beige family came in and didn't have the same verbal hostility that our group did. This business should do better.

Let me start off by saying that I am a huge skeptic. I've seen and read a few articles and…read moredocumentaries about how people in this industry use cues like body language and pieces of conversations to make generalizations about someone and seemingly be able to predict or tell them about what's going on in their present / future. Given all that I've read and seen, I was totally blown away by Evaine and her reading. I sat at the bar with my girlfriend for about ten minutes before we decided to each get our own readings. After picking my Tarot cards Evaine told me what she saw. She was 100% accurate in what was going on in my present and what I had been mulling over for my future. I got goosebumps with each sentence that came out of her mouth. I had not spoken to this lady about any of what she said, not in conversation and certainly not in body language. Here she was....reading it aloud to me. She was so specific and on point. The details she provided could not have been some sort of "trick". After my reading I felt assured that my plans for the future would be well worth the risk involved. On top of giving a highly accurate reading, Evaine was very pleasant and friendly. I would highly recommend that you get a reading from her, especially if you are a skeptic. Be prepared for an eye opening experience.

Although I didn't understand the cleansing part very well, the tarot card telling gave me a couple of surprising tellings by Vanessa. I definitely think its an experience worth having in New Orleans and Vanessa feels like a very comfortable and genuine fortune teller. I'm not sure how pricing is as I didn't get quoted by anyone else - appointment or any of the fortune tellers near Jackson Square, but it was a pleasant experience.

I have had a pretty heavy…read morecouple of years with a lot of unrelated trauma and tragedy, and my big question was: will this run of bad luck start to shift? Vanessa was warm, wise, funny and competent. She packed SO much into our hour+ together: she "cleaned and cleared" me, identified a negative energy that was in my home far away in California and dealt with it appropriately, gave me practical suggestions for supports for my family to help them with their struggles, and gave me a really robust tarot reading. So much of what she said was spot-on. While I am a spiritual practitioner myself (I am an ordained Protestant minister), I have a healthy skepticism of anyone claiming to have supernatural powers. But I entirely trusted and believed Vanessa. I left her place much lighter than I entered, and the benefits have lasted for days. Apart from any true magical properties from our encounters, there have already been untold empirical results: I have been sleeping better, dreaming more lucidly, and in waking hours feel more grounded, joyful, connected to my purpose, and less anxious about the future. Additionally, Vanessa is just a delight to be with. She has an infectious laugh, and delivers deep and occasionally hard truths with such tenderness and conviction that they are easy to receive. I'm looking forward to going back to see her next time I am in NOLA!

Now, I have to say that this person's opinion of an entire gender is not if great importance to me, but being a person of business I felt it necessary to point out just how detrimental this type of behavior is for, what seemed to be sparse, business relations. Despite one's personal experiences, exceptional customer service and productive sales require tuning-in, not demonstrative expletives that alienate certain groups, (including those that just aren't in agreement). This may have been the worst sales experience my friends and I have ever had, and we travel together and separately often. I dare say more than the extremely bitter, hateful representative of this "shop". She could use a vacation, in our collective opinion. The shelves were mostly bare, except for a thick layer of dust on most of the store. There is moss hanging above, so it's sort of part of the decor, but the emptiness accentuated it. The music playing was dreary, 80s adult contemporary and seemed well out of place considering the area and theme of this shop. We couldn't help laughing upon passing it later, just to hear the same song attempting to depress everyone in its vicinity. It's no wonder the employee is so frustrated! The idea of being offered a psychic reading from this person was the true irony. As a man, I wouldn't trust anything to do with this business, and I consider myself a feminist. Be careful what you put out there.

(they have a sister business bar, but the internet told me they didn't open until 3 or after and the show I was attending was at 2:30...so The Apothecary it was!) It was super busy, I think there may have been a special or private brunch event. But bar seating was open. If you like absinthe, this is a place to try. They have a lot of cocktails based on that spirit. I saw other ones though, one with lavendar and one with gin and peaflower (I am a sucker for a color changing drank). I ended up going for the gin and peaflower one. And it tasted good but, it did have "spritz" in it's name and I expected it to be a bit lighter on the tongue and perhaps with a fizz. It will pack a punch, it is a sipper of a drink...it is almost all booze and has a thicker mouthfeel, if you will. The flavor is great, but I guess I just expected something a little different with the name of the drink. They do have food, but we had just had a brunch and didn't need much. But there was truffle popcorn that I opted to get as a snack in between boozy sips of my pretty purple cocktail. I enjoyed my visit here and would certainly recommend it if this is your vibe.
