Although the street appeal probably isn't anything to woo at, and inside is a tad bit dated, yet is still humble in a family restaurant kind of way. I feel it may have been the owners who were working the front of house, and they were both lovely. They clearly have been in the business a while and did a good job and making us feel comfortable, and giving us a little giggle as well. The menu had heaps of choose from. Seemed as if there were a few extra options compared to other basic Chinese restaurants, including a traditional and western dessert menu. I had the Chicken Satay dish off the chef special menu. It was amazing. The sauce was flavoursome and certainly didn't seem like out of a jar type of thing. It was served with broccoli pieces as well as a little burning flame in the middle of the plate. My partner had the Sizzling Steak Mongolian style dish and the pieces were tender and juicy, with lovely sweet and tangy Mongolian flavours through-out. The plate was also served with vegetables. I love this place. It's my new found gem. I've been searching a while for a nice place to grab some quality Chinese food, and I think I've found my stop. This place isn't anything designer or high-end perhaps, but it still possess a charming old-school look and humble home-style meals, which is something I look when dining at Asian restaurants in the berbs.

I've also eaten plenty of takeaway and when I've been really lazy, taken advantage of the super cheap $3.50 delivery (within 3kms, minimum spend $30). Those in the know say it's authentic Cantonese cooking. The menu is extensive and while I haven't loved all the dishes, if you stick to the usual suspects you won't be disappointed. Most ambitious dish? Basil Cheese Chicken - "tender pieces of chicken tossed with basil, onion with mild chilli soy bean paste on a melt cheese bed and served on a sizzling platter." Don't let that put you off. My favourites are Shredded Roasted Duck Soup for $5.50 and Ants On Greens - "minced pork, sun-dried shrimps and mushroom wok seared in white wine and oyster sauce and served on a fresh greens bed. Parking on Glen Osmond Road is a pain - make sure you tuck your mirror in, it's a rat race along there. If you go here for a business lunch, let them know and they'll make a point of getting the food to you promptly, or let you know if a dish will potentially take longer.

Tables are well spaced and there's no moving trolleys bringing plates of yum cha dishes. Standard yum cha dishes are all on offer as well as choices of noodles dishes. I just love their sweet sesame balls filled with sesame paste. Their cute little tea pots add 'class' to the table. Waiting staff are friendly and seems to cater and look after the packed restaurant well. Water was frequently topped up into those tea pots which 'pour' very well. To conclude, the price is very reasonable. Best to go in a group and share your experience with your friends. Walking into the shop, it doesn't look flashy at all. However, what you're there for is the food. And this shop impresses with their food. Maybe a bit pricier than other shops, but the ingredients used are all high quality. Compared to other Chinese take away restaurants that use mid-range quality ingredients, Choy Inn Chinese produces great tasting food with great ingredients. They also don't use MSG, which is a bonus. They do get quite busy on Fridays-Sundays, so waiting time will possibly be extended. They are also closed on Tuesdays. I strongly recommend this Take Away, as it is easily the best Chinese take away in Adelaide.
