We both opted for coconut rice on the side, again there's a sticky sweetness to it and it has a lovely mouth feel. We chose chicken satay kebabs and vegetarian spring rolls on the side. The satay sauce too was punchy, deep flavoured and just the right amount of nam pla. Again the sweet chilli dip that accompanied the crispy hot spring rolls was ace so another great balance of heat/sweet here too. Two starters, two mains with rice and a Diet Coke between two came to £25.10. Our host patiently waited for me to fish out 10p from my pockets - it took a minute digging into the corners of coat and trouser pockets. I found 20p allowing me to wait equally patiently for my 10p change. This place is about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the main city centre with some parking outside. It's a takeaway with some street cafe style seating. We sat on a bench style table with no refinement whatsoever and it didn't matter a jot. I got a vegetarian red curry here and a portion of Thai crackers. The curry portion was generous and the vegetables, including red pepper, peas and carrots were fresh and tasty. I particularly enjoy the tofu and potato. The Thai crackers (£1.5) are far better than Chinese crackers too even though Chinese takeaway tend to provide free crackers with main meal orders. I've also enjoyed hot spicy curries for years, and maybe it's an age thing, but I find their vegetarian curry to be very hot, maybe it's just me and an age thing but I now add a teaspoon of sugar to their curry to help balance the spice - it works up to a point. They have a notice up advising no variation to dishes - perhaps this is to keep their food authentic or maybe to prevent cheaper ingredients being substituted for more expensive ones. The coconut rice too (£2.5) is really flavoursome. In an earlier review of this place I'd noted that the additional food cost of this takeaway tested against main dishes from local Chinese takeaways might harm business. The fact is that while this remains the case, Chinese takeaway prices have since increased, but poor quality, poor tasting Chinese food is still endemic here and the quality and fresh taste of this Thai food is very far ahead by any measure and worth the extra cost and I'll stick with them.

I had tried the Man Lee once and was really underwhelmed and overcharged. My old friend said try the Emperor as his go to place. So we took his advice. Well we got three meals there and one meal from this Thai place. I didn't know it existed and just spotted it as we drove by it and the car radio played Excerpt from a Teenage Opera. Grocer Jack by the wonderful Keith West. We went into the Thai to order one meal and crossed the street to make the remaining food order in the Emperor Chinese. It was a lousy damp, miserable night too and I stood with my mind going 'count the days into years, 82 brings many fears' then I realised the girl on the counter at the Chinese had short changed me and I remedied that. Oh well another day dream shattered with dull reality. So I took the Thai meal - a good portion of tasty Thai prawn crackers - far better than any Chinese prawn crackers. And the Thai crackers came with a tiny pot of punchy sweet chilli sauce. A king prawn red Thai curry and coconut rice - one out of three boiled rice choices, the other two being jasmine and sticky (£6:50). It was a tough choice for a piggy like me. The rice was topped with that really adult delicious salted fried shallots. The liquid red curry portion was generous, it was very tasty but it was runny thin like a soup. The spice heat was just how I like it though. Hot enough to know you are eating it but not so hot as to make it unpleasant. I was delighted to find in it fresh cubed aubergines, butternut squash, carrots and courgettes. How refreshing but the aubergine and squash were near to disintegration by the time we got back to eat it but again I'm not too precious about this. There were six poached king prawns in the dish. So it gets a three star on the strength of this one main dish. I will be back soon enough as I really want to try the fishcakes. Oh nearly forgot there is seating inside. Benches rather than chairs - no expense spent - so a bit like a cheap and cheerful small cantina. One major disappointment for me though: no minced pork dishes available on the menu, yet a good Thai holy basil & dry red chilli pork stir fry is a fabulous dish. I'm a huge fan of Camile Thai and have dined at the other location on the Lisburn Road. The concept is freshly prepared high quality and very authentic Thai food. This is evident from the decor to displays to the menu. On arrival I was warmly welcomed and given the menu. The deal was to order off the menu and for the team to cook, pack and Despatch the food. It was very busy and all 20 odd staff must have been there prepping, cooking, and packing as well as hosting!! I went for starters of chicken skewers (4), hot chicken wings (9) and crispy pork belly (lots). It took about 15 minutes to cook and took me about 15 to get home and the food was still piping hot!! The battered dishes were served on crispy vermicelli and sweet chilli dipping sauce. The batter was crispy and full of flavour. The crispy vermicelli was a great touch. The skewers were very moist and full of satay flavour. For mains I ordered Pad King Prawns with Jasmine Rice and chicken chu Chee curry with Jasmine rice. The chicken was very spicy and both dishes were beautiful. The pad prawns were distinctly flavoured with fish sauce and wonderful. If anything maybe the portion size was a bit small. There are fresh juices and drinks on display and plenty of offers to avail.
