I was disappointed to arrive here and find silence. No Pavoratti bellowing dirges, no rotund ladies singing arias, no phantoms with funny white half-face masks, no crown jewels either. Just a bunch o' shops. As London's first arcade, however, this place merits pardon. Did you know this was London's oldest arcade? Well, now you do. Fact of the day.
In the arcade, instead of the normal blinking lights, skee-ball booths, tickets exchangeable for made in China prizes and the like, there are shops A shoe shop, a wine shop, a place were you can dine shop. A paper store, Kiwi goods galore, shall I list you any more? The shops are of the upper echelons of the price scale for the most part, but have somewhat unusual, interesting items for sale.
