So, choosing an Indian restaurant in Troy can be an overwhelming task. So many options. Well, if you're reading this review, stop searching and go to Royal India. The entrees are always fresh and delicious. Their curries are nice and hearty, not watery or greasy as you may find elsewhere. They are also loaded with whichever protein you choose, no skimping. Service is incredibly attentive and quick to offer suggestions.

101. Lamb Korma with naan
Elaine W.

Freshest naan! Thin and cooked to perfection. Lamb korma is also excellent. Perfect texture. Lots of meat. All for a very reasonable price especially since the naan comes with the curry at no extra charge. Environment is clean and spacious. Service is quick and friendly. Would definitely return.

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! My family, friends, and I can't get enough. This has been our go to Indian restaurant for years. The best food, the most accommodating staff, and unreal authenticity. Run don't walk to Royal Indian Cuisine.

Mysore Cheese Masala Dosa
Samantha M.

One of the BEST Indian spots I've been to. I loved the mixed grill for two. Honestly I think three people could eat that and be satisfied. I went with a friend and we had enough leftovers for us both to eat them for dinner the next day and it was STILL delicious! We usually like spicy food but sometimes Indian food can have a different level of spice. We went with mild and didn't feel it was spicy at all. Next time we will try medium and let y'all know how it is. Mysore Cheese Masala Dosa was so BIG. It was def big enough for two people. The only thing is if you order this you shouldn't order anything else. It is so big and it's best eaten fresh with the cheese just melted and not reheated later. Be cautious with the Khari Lassi, I was trying to be adventurous and didn't care for it at all. It's not "bad" but just not to my taste. I would def recommend eating here.

Food is phenomenal. We had a spread of plain Dosa - (huge and snappy!) and three vegetarian entrees mildly spiced. The Aloo Gobi hit the spot, and the yellow lentils and spinach entrees were tasty too. Yummy naan. rice was cooked to perfection. I had some of their black tea with milk which was good. Wish they offered uncaffeinated homemade chai. service was ok, but here the food was so great ill be dreaming about it. Love the decor. Some would say it need an update but i just love it how it is.

Went for the lunch buffet today, late after noon. It was a busy crowd of folks. The buffet is small but provides some decent variety 3 chicken dishes and and a lamb dish, all of which I wasn't able to eat. We were seated after a few minutes by the buffet. The better dishes that I could eat were: veggie jalfraize, bindi masala and the dal makhani. Food wasn't bad and the price was around $9/pp. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't more veggie options for me.

I told my husband we should take our moms out for lunch as an early mothers day treat. So we did and luckily both our mothers are totally into Indian food. Royal Indian Cuisine has some solid yelp star power, plus we've never been before so why not right? They have a pretty good assortment of buffet items. Tandoori chicken, masala dishes, vindaloo items, two types of basmati rice, sweet brown balls, etc. Table towards the wall has the plates and some sort of chopped salad that I have never ever touched in my life. But I guess it's for the salad eaters. Theres also green sauce, yogurt and chutney which is an accompaniment. This is how people know you're all about Indian food. All the dishes was actually really good. And yes, even the veggie ones. If you're wondering if I touched the salad, the answer is No. I wouldn't be caught dead eating a salad in an Indian restaurant. Service was really good. Staff was super friendly, naan bread came out with almost no wait and our waters were automatically kept full. I would definitely eat here again. Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!

Buffett

I used to like this place few years ago, but now I go there only if I'm not in a mood to drive and crave some Indian buffet. I've been to this place like a dozen of times if not more. Always for lunch buffet. Some visits are better than others, sometimes the dishes at the buffet station are flavorful, but other times just meh. I like their fresh naan that they bring to the table, one of the best comparing to other places. That is the good here. The service is terrible, they always seem to be bored, never a smile, never a nice word. They act like machines, not like human being. And very, very slow. Overall, this is an ok place if you really need something Indian, not necessarily the most flavorful.

Appetizers: * Samosas - warm and creamy filling; crunchy outside, just like you would expect * Paneer Pakoda - creamy and cheesy * Masala Dosa - absolutely the BEST with the sauces and soup We were stuffed after eating appetizers but pressed on! Main: * Chicken Tikka Masala - an old favorite, exactly what you want in Tikka * Utappam - fluffy savory pancake * Lamb Rogan Josh - the lamb melts away like it's been braised into submission; so perfect. * naan, rice and sauces all perfect And even though we were too stuffed to move... Dessert: * Rice Pudding - served cold and creamy * Gulab Jamison - the syrup was even made fresh! * Rasamalai - cheesy and the pistachio made it balanced A few other things: * hospitality is amazing, so kind and attentive * incredible attention to allergy, just let them know * don't be deceived...you can't walk out, it's more of a waddle ENJOY!

For a kid with sensory sensitivity, this was the perfect timing to dine in. I was a bit sad to see the restaurant so empty and hope it was largely our timing. However, I can't negate the construction and horrible economic conditions as questionable contributors. The space is vast, clean, and today was peaceful. Generally, it's a lively atmosphere, cricket and kids in the background, and lots of gathering and conversations. The staff is always friendly and warm. One of the staff made sure to come by our table to check in mid-meal. It's a simple gesture and it makes me feel warm and welcome. We ordered gobi manchurian, masala dosa, veg fried rice, a mango lassi for my son and sugar cane juice for me. My son's favorite was the masala dosa- a comforting blend of flavors and textures, sambar was absolutely scrumptious. I practically inhaled my gobi, which is one of my favorite dishes. Perfect spice/heat level, well balanced and nice crunch from the bell peppers and onions. The veg fried rice was a safe third dish in the event my son was craving something familiar, and it ended up being satisfying but our least favorite of the order. I will say it was prepared well and I love the threads of vegetables throughout. Mango lassi was a nice buffer for some of the heat for my son, and my sugar cane juice was a surprisingly savory/sweet quencher for the ride home. Oh. And a scoop of butterscotch ice cream for the boy. Overall I am a loyal Neehee's fan and look forward to many more visits.

I ended up getting their Mysore Masala Dosa and Dahi Samosa Chaat. The dosa was good but didn't really have that kick or the authentic flavor I was hoping for. The sambar was too watered for my taste. The samosa chaat however checker off all the flavor boxes. The chaat was tangy, but not too spicy and absolutely delish. They have a lot of seating that makes me think they probably get crowded on weekends and holidays.

We were surprised to see a lunch bar as we have not eaten at a bar since COVID. The selections looked plentiful and delicious so we decided to try it. I filled my plate with many savory rice, vegetarian and meat dishes: The flavors were varied and wonderful. The garlic naan was made fresh when we sat down and brought to our table. It was amazing: flavorful, thin and slightly crispy. We deducted one star because the temperature of the food was not hot enough for our taste, especially for a food bar. I also thought several of the chicken dishes had too many bones though they were tasty. The staff were all attentive and pleasant. We will return and order off their regular menu.m; I'll then update my review.

Ordered dosa, samosa, Gobi Manchurian, chick pea salad, dal tadka and dal makhani, butter chicken, navratina korma, and Chana masala. $117.56 The Samosa, butter chicken and chick pea salad are all good. The samosa is maybe a bit too heavy and doughy. The potato and peas are mashed inside. The cilantro chutney is good, spicy too. Butter chicken is tasty. The chick pea salad is just fresh and yummy. Dosa was okay, not loving the tomato or coconut chutneys so much. Sambar soup is good. The dal makhani and Chana was not for either of us. Makhani is super buttery and runny. The Chana has a very unexpected taste and look, the sauce it's cooked in is quite brown here. The dal tadka, korma and Gobi were just okay. Both lentils are super runny. The korma isn't too bad. Their version has tofu in it. Sauce is good. Not a lot of veggies to it. Gobi was crispy, but their chili sauce is not so good. My husband usually favors the Chana masala, but he wasn't fond of their version so much. Would skip the Chana, Gobi and the dal makhani and maybe even the dal tadka next time. Service here is good.
