Last night I ordered chicken 65, Haka chicken noodles and garlic nan: the noodles where so hard I tossed them right away, the chicken 65 had too much batter and was not eatable either so coming to the last item the garlic nan was hard as a rock! I was so hungry for Indian cuisine, I took my lunch to the parking lot. Red Chillies is full of timeless Indian flavors. Everything I expected from chicken tikka masala & egg biryani was there and then some! At medium plus, it was packed with juuust the right amount of spiciness--the point where where you suck in the air for relief buuuut the flavor is just so good that you won't stop eating it! I made myself stop, but know it's a lot of food for lunch so that's great for the next day. The only small request is tamarind/cilantro chutney! I need it so after calling, I knew to bring mine. Indian food like it should be and very warm service. Fantastic Malai kofta. Very close in taste to the one you'd find in India. We had parathas and rotis with it. The rotis are wonderful whole wheat breads and we liked them more than the parathas. We also had the Idli Manchurian which was very soft and tasty. My girlfriend and I really love this place after the first visit! The waitor is really nice and made us seem very welcomed in the restaurant. We ordered the buttered chicken and lamb kurma, and let me tell you, it was one of tastiest things I've ever tasted. Especially the buttered chicken, the creamy sauce was very tasty and we had a plate of rice to compliment it. The meat was dry and it was cooked nicely. The garic nan bread was ordinary, it almost reminded me of the bread sticks from a pizza place, yet it was still good while we dipped the bread into the creamy sauce. Red chillies is a newer Indian Restaurant in the area. We decided to stop by for dinner here. The ambience is casual, service warm and food exceptional. We had chicken dum biryani, chicken kerala and chappati. We requested fresh cut onion and green chillies. They were provided very promptly. We also had mango lassi which was just the right amount of sweet. Chicken dum biryani stole the show. It is prepared every Friday evening fresh. This is their weekend specialty. It is an authentic flavorful preparation where meat, rice, nuts, pineapple and boiled egg are cooked simultaneously. The time for preparation is much longer than for usual biryani served at most other Indian restaurants. I have not tasted better dum biryani thusfar. You can immediately taste the authenticity. This was my first time ordering carry-out. The woman who answered the phone was very nice and answered my menu questions. The order was ready when I arrived. Although no one was there, it is only carry-out (no dine-in) with the COVID pandemic going on. I'm familiar with Indian food and ordered chicken Tikka Marsala (spicy) and Shrimp Briyani (medium spice) to try some of each. The food was wonderful, authentic sauces and basmati rice was cooked perfectly. I would not pass this place up because it is in a plaza; the food makes it a stand alone, hands down. Be sure to ask for a menu; some of the menu pictures on Facebook are a previous version, so if you order by number, just make sure it matches up with the current menu. I can't wait to order again. We went there on a Thursday night ahead of a 9pm movie screening. It was almost empty and felt a bit dark when we entered, but the person at the cash register welcomed us with a big smile. The owner, I presume came to take our order and since we were in a hurry, we ordered the chilli idli appetizer to eat and a garlic naan, paneer kadai combo to go in case we got the late night munchies. As mentioned in some of my other reviews, I've been to many other Indian restaurants. The one difference I found here was that the food was really fresh. Even when we reached home and had dinner post midnight, you could feel the freshness of the naan. the curry was decent as well. A good spot if you are in the area. read more

Tried Red Chilies after having it bookmarked for a while. I was trying to figure out what to eat on a rare free night, and decided that Indian sounded good. The location itself is pretty small and kind of an odd set of décor, like the '80s were coming back. But you're not here for the décor, you're here for the food. Be warned in advance that there is a language barrier. The young guy that took my order required a lot of pointing and repeating, and he seemed to be the best at English. They do need to work on this and on setting up the tables. I got a pitcher of water with no ice, and when I asked for ice it was a real production number. They have the Bollywood tunes turned up a bit loud, so that probably didn't help. That and the other table of 40-somethings that talked about beer pong for the whole hour I was there (I wish I'm kidding, but I'm not). At one point the female of the group said "It's like quidditch with beer." I'm serious, someone really uttered this thought -- it may be the single stupidest thing ever said. I started off with some hot and sour soup, which was sort of like the Thai version, but with some twists. I'm not sure of all of the kinds of meat in it, there were some chunks of things that I couldn't quite identify. You know what? It didn't matter...this stuff was awesome. Oh, yeah, and hot as hell without being just about heat -- the flavor was amazing, pretty much the best soup of its kind I've ever had. So good, in fact, that I ordered some to go. It was that good. For my meal I got the chicken Biryani. The portion size was very large, and the flavors were very good. I also got some na'an, which was good but a bit soggy. I ended up taking the Biryani home and it was just as good the next time. Lots of layers of flavor and a good amount of protein. I did wish it had a bit more sauce, but that is a minor issue. The server said that on the weekends they have an amazing fish curry prepared by the chef (who has 25 years of experience, you will hear this fact several times during your meal, I did). I look forward to trying that and some other goodies here. You're not here for anything other than the food, and you will not be disappointed. read more

My new favorite place! Absolutely delicious food. Delivery time was a little over an hour, which I didn't mind. I was delighted when the food arrived fresh & hot, which is rare when ordering delivery. I chose the chicken tika masala. It definitely exceeded my expectations. The sauce was very flavorful, hints of sweetness & spices in each bite. It came with a side of white long grain rice. I also ordered garlic naan. Unfortunately it was a bit soggy, but it was good, especially when dipped in the tika masala sauce. Last but not least, I ordered veggie samosa. OMG! So good. Had a nice crunch on the outside, and the filling was bursting with flavor. Overall I very much enjoyed my experience & I will definitely be ordering from here again. read more

First of all, i am a person who gives just one shot at a restaurant. But this restaurant has proven me wrong. I have gone to this restaurant more than 30 times. I am not kidding! The food is so good that, my once in a week eating out always end up in this place. One piece of advice i would give is, try out the stuff at their specials list. Whatever on that list is truly amazing. That is the exact southern India ( Kerala to be specific) food you can cherish in Michigan. We are avid consumers of Indian food and visited Red Chillies for the 1st time tonight. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. It came piping hot and quite flavorful. We ordered Chicken 65, which we love,and it was by far the best we've had yet. We then had Chicken Mappas and Lamb Kadai, both has exceptional taste. The staff was very attentive and nice. This will probably be our new favorite Indian restaurant. It fulfills our hunt for a new favorite as our prior place is under new management. Today we enjoyed three dishes- chicken puttu, Kerala fish curry with tamarind, Kerala fried chicken & Kerala bread. The food was good, but the experience was disjointed. They were caught off guard when we walked in. There was no music playing and they had to play with the lights. At one point we were sitting in the dark. This type of stuff happens when you open a new restaurant or do anything for the first time.
