Geresbeck's has been a staple in east Baltimore county for decades! This is the only place I go for…read morecrab meat, shrimp, lobster, packaged & baked goods and now- WESTERN FRIES!!! Geresbeck's has the best sales in town when it comes to seafood. The shrimp is always cheap & they steam on site. On a recent visit while waiting for my shrimp to be steamed, I took a walk around the market to see what else I could buy. Geresbeck's has a great speciality ice cream section. They had my favorite Taharka Brother's honey graham ice cream and some other tasty choices. I ended up in the bakery department and saw SO MANY delicious looking baked goods from a peanut butter Boston crème cake to banana pudding parfaits to mini cheesecakes. Their doughnuts are huge and made with the love of someone that loves to bake. I took quite a bit of photos showcasing their selections. As I walked through the store, I started to get a little hungry for a snack. I came back around to the deli/hot foods department and saw a mountain of tasty looking western fries. Now, western fries are extremely popular in Baltimore and the surrounding counties. I've had my share of western fries from the center of the city, to Brass Hen in Eastpoint mall, to even Royal Farms. All were delicious, BUT THESE FRIES WERE ABSOLUTE LOVE AT FIRST BITE!!! They were crunchy like a piece of fried chicken and tender inside like a fluffy baked potato. Omg, I can taste them right now. They were so, so amazingly yummy. If you love potatoes, or any variation of fries, you'd LOVE these. I actually may go back very soon for a fix. I didn't need salt, pepper, ketchup, NOTHING. Now, for my only gripe about Geresbeck's is that I wouldn't necessarily buy goods outside of the seafood, bakery or specialty items. I found that other items in the store, unless on sale, are higher priced than other grocery stores. But they have to counterbalance that with the affordable seafood prices, right? Anyways, if you're in the area, stop by and pick you up some delicious doughnuts and western fries while you're there. Geresbeck's is a piece of nostalgia that will make you feel like you were back in a time when everything was simpler and easy. They will always be solid with me.

I suppose I only give it four stars because they certainly take some advantage of that convenience with pretty high prices. That said, from a grill and greasy spoon perspective, we have always loved the pizza and the cheesesteak subs and the Italian cold cut. I should also add that 2 of us are *really* into food, and we were both in our happy zones. We only wish there was a table to sit & eat. 5 stars all the way. I eat lamb over rice at least one a week from a few different establishments throughout Maryland…read more The lamb over rice here has the most flavorful lamb I've ever tasted. The rice was a little chewy but that lamb. Could've used more white sauce but again that lamb. Their red sauce is hot and thick like it should be. I hate red sauce that's just hot sauce. The location is the location so don't expect it to be fancy inside. The service is great and the guy at the window is friendly.

Kanye West Carry-Out & Grocery is where you go if you desperately want Kim Kardashian but are in a…read morepoor part of West Baltimore. Unfortunately the above sentence is a lie, and in fact this is just a lower-to-mid-price convenience store on a corner in one of the most run-down, underfunded neighbourhoods in the entire Western world. I think I was the only white person not just on this day at this time, but ever, from some of the looks I got, to enter this little mini mart. I got a soda (semi-decent selection, low-to-mid prices), because it was freaking hot. I was exploring the entire neighbourhood where the recent riots were. Police helicopters circled overhead. Lots of suspicious looks and nervous comments. Very sad. But this is a nice little beacon of normalcy and friendliness in the middle of the hood. If the products were slightly more affordable for the mostly-unemployed locals around here, I'd even give it a 5. You'd think Kanye would be able to give the groceries away, but alas.

I am rating this location as a local market…read more In terms of wine, liquor, and beer selection, I would give this four stars. Plenty of cold beverages as well as a robust wine selection. The liquor selection is reasonable for the size of the location, but don't expect very much in the way of high end selections. They have a few more expensive bottles behind the counter. In terms of dry goods and cold food selection, I would give this three out of five stars. There just isn't that much here. What they have is reasonable but it honestly feels like it's there to provide an accompaniment to the primary business of selling alcohol. In terms of the deli I would actually give this five stars. This is in comparison to other food market delis, of which admittedly the area has few. It's not going to be as good as a true restaurant or somewhere that only provides food, but they have a robust deli selection and can make a variety of hot and cold sandwiches. If you're looking for actual deli meat by the pound, I would recommend going to a grocery store instead however. The staff are very friendly and the line moves quickly. Overall a great local shop.

What I do use Eddie's for is there emphasis on local items as well as their fancy cakes. I prefer this location as I have had much better luck dropping in and finding specific cake flavors and like that there is an actual parking lot versus a tiny garage. I will purchase local kombucha, coffee and vegan ice cream sometimes at Eddie's. I like the selection they have, especially of Zeke's coffee and Wild Bay kombucha. For the bakery, I go to Eddie's because they have slightly fancier cakes that can be picked up at any time (don't need to pre-order). Of course, you can pre-order, which is advisable, because you never know what they will have in stock. For my wife's last birthday, I grabbed a raspberry and chocolate cake which the bakery employee offered to write a message on at no extra charge. What a cool service! Eddie's has a decent selection of gluten free and vegan items. I will peruse them but don't usually purchase because of the price point. Anyways, Eddie's is cool and I will definitely continue to visit on special occasions. The prices keep it from being a regular grocery destination.
