This was quite atrocious. A gelatinous heap of meat substance and egg on a 2 inch square of bread for almost eight dollars. Where does one find such a cartoonish rendition of bread? It looked like what a child would serve at a tea party. I'm not exaggerating- the bread slice was not much larger than a saltine. A piece of cheese would have added another dollar to the tab. On a bagel- add ANOTHER buck 50. We're talking approaching 10 BUCKS for a breakfast sandwich! It's really my fault. When I walked in I felt as if I'd slipped into another dimension. Expecting a little country store I was suddenly in an inner city bodega. The aroma of the pot of stale coffee on the counter forewarned any further encroachment. It looked like an unkept 7-11 at best- not what one would expect in the Hereford Zone. This would all be overlooked if it was a good sandwich. In my visit, I ultimately chose a Lienenkugel Honey Weiss, but they had maybe 50 or 60 different options - which include, of course, your standard domestics like Yuengling, Budweiser, etc., along with Brewers Art things and plenty of other craft brews. For a local place that isn't a truly dedicated liquor store, they had a really great display. There are wines here, as well - though at a cursory glance, I didn't see any Boordy stuff, which the old ownership did carry, and which is a Baltimore favorite. No hard liquors - this is basically a beer/wine/convenience store. The junk food is junk food. During the summer, they'll make you a snowball, but you should go to One Sweet Moment, a few blocks away, instead. If tobacco or lottery tickets are your thing, they have them here. The store is a bit garish and dumpy, but it fills its function well, and without too much of a mark up.

My wife and I ordered the Old World Italian hoagie along with a hot roast beef and gravy grinder that was running as a special. While we waited, the staff was incredibly nice and helpful, and we took some time to browse their butcher case. Everything looked fantastic, and we ended up leaving with several packs of house made sausages that were too interesting to pass up, including a chicken crab cake sausage and a brisket cheddar. After a short wait, our subs were ready and they were both absolute units. Since they have a few two tops for the lunch crowd, we did not even make it to the car before digging in. The Old World Italian was exactly what I hoped for. Piled high with Italian meats and cheeses, sharp provolone, roasted red peppers, and prosciutto, all served on a sturdy yet soft seeded roll. The meats were perfectly layered so every bite was balanced and flavorful. No dead spots, no overwhelming salt bombs, just a beautifully constructed hoagie. The hot roast beef grinder was equally impressive. Freshly shaved beef, rich gravy, and melted provolone came together in a way that felt indulgent without being heavy. Comfort food done right. Product, crates, and bags of rice make narrow passageways impossible for wheelchairs. We found the chilis. Thank goodness Jeremy was with me, because I never could have gotten to the shelves myself and no one seemed interested in making sure I found what I needed. I would have liked to have explored the shelves more, but I felt uncomfortable in the store and couldn't wait to leave. The guy at the register did not speak to us. Didn't tell us the total for our purchases or thank us for shopping there. There was a cart blocking the exit, from the outside, so it was more difficult than necessary to leave.
