I decided to give it a try after the positive reviews in Yelp, and it turned out to be a great gastronomic experience. We ordered several dishes to share, such as the "Combined Platter", an assortment of carefully prepared and sliced bite-size meat (chicken, duck, pork, and pancetta), which also came with a bit of seaweed salad, pickled white radish, and two different sauces for the meat. Each type of meat came in its own little space on a bigger round plate, making the presentation clean and pleasant to the eyes. I recommend ordering the renkon or lotus root with thin slices of pork meat. Very tasty and crunchy - not a very common tuber in Western cuisine. We also had a plate of sautéed bok choy, a ration (4 units) of pork-and-shrimp siu mais and another one of duck and boleti-filled steamed buns. The outer part of the buns were a tiny bit dry, but the overall taste was amazing. The service was fast, very friendly, and professional. Looking at the staff moving around the room showed me how proud they felt about their business. They seemed to be very well-integrated in the local community, and Spanish customers were eager to show them their appreciation and great eating experience (me, too). Not bad. Less greasy than New York . We only ordered fried rice, crab with garlic , chicken feet. The fried rice is similar to HK ...like how it's done over there. The chicken feet was not great, but thats how the chef makes it in some places in hK,more black bean sauce . Overall, it's good. Reading so many positive reviews, and even hearing from my students that this place was legit, I walked through the door with lots of optimism. The interior is predictably kitschy, somehow adding to the promise of higher-than-average quality fare. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. For me it was the sweet-and-sour ribs. The boring sauce, the tough, stringy texture, these things had me feeling sad that the meager portion of rice with which I'd been tempering the meat ran out so quickly. When I use my imagination, I could see myself enjoying popping a riblet into my mouth and gnashing the meat from it with my molars - sitting at a rainy little cafe in a 5th-rate Chinese city. In Madrid, in a generic restaurant, it seemed to make less sense, and felt like more of a hassle than a glimmer of authenticity. My girlfriend had some specie of fried noodle plate, which she reported as "good, but not worth the trip across town". We left there unenchanted. There's another review here that does well to describe why, saying that this place is good in the context of Spanish Chinese restaurants but would go out of business immediately in the US. Let's read that two ways: on the one hand, the place was full of Chinese people and so there's a fair chance that what we didn't like was authentic Chinese food. On the other hand, I'd argue that this place is the last stop for Westerners dying for "good" Chinese in town and those poor souls will feel like we felt, saying "well, we tried". read more

After ten days in Spain, we needed a break from all the traditional Spanish food - we had a little too much jamon and too little fresh vegetables. Imagine my surprise when I found an authentic Cantonese restaurant on Yelp, just down the metro line. This restaurant is in a more residential area of Madrid, but it was definitely worth the trek. Everything tasted great (it was so nice eating vegetables again!) and just like what we would get back home. We also got some bbq pork buns to go and picnicked in the park. I would highly recommend this place if you need something different from the nightly tapas crawls. read more
