First things first - The Backstreet is a low-lit pub-like atmosphere, with larger tables for group gatherings, some booths for a bit more privacy, various sports team jerseys hanging from the ceiling, a couple pool tables and enough yet not redonkulous amount of TV's for watching the game. Doesn't sound like anything overly special, right?
That is, until you you take a full, fresh-baked pizza, cut it into quarters and make sandwiches out of the pieces with mayo, (they don't call it "aioli" in Lethbridge yet,) lettuce and tomato in between! Ladies and gentleman, you've got yourselves a Jamie Sandwich and it's delicious. Why is no one else doing this? In all the places in all the world, The Backstreet is the only place that has come up with the crazy idea to make a sandwich but use pizza as the bread. It's simple! In all honesty, will it be the most mind blowingly awesome culinary creation you've ever shoved in your face? I doubt it, but just be careful what you say. The Jamie Sandwich is a strong point of pride for Lethbians young and old. And yah, it's darn tasty, creative and rare enough to warrant a special visit whenever I'm in town and a solid 4-star review.
Thanks for all the great nights during University, Backstreet. Quite a few years later, you're still delivering the goods!
