This was our second time visiting Moxie's in Lethbridge. Our first time left much to be desired to be honest but the second time around they redeemed themselves. Our first go around our chicken tenders weren't as we remembered. Normally we love them but they weren't that crispy and the flavour for the tangy tai sauce was a bit off as well. Trying to supplement out the fries for mashed potatoes... forget about it! It ain't happening. But returning for a second time because we had a gift card, it was a lot better. We were greeted at the front door and seated quickly. Our waitress was quite friendly and the food came out quickly but it was fresh. There menu seems a bit limited, which I view as a negative, but others may not. Anyways I got the chicken tenders again and my wife got the Chicken Madeira Rigatoni. This time around though they allowed me to swap out the fries for mashed potatoes and gravy and boy was it worth it! So delicious. Potatoes were very creamy with no lumps! And the chicken tenders were piled high! Wonderfully crisp and full of flavour! And my wife loved her Rigatoni! If this was our first go around, I would have given them a 4 but I'm only giving 3 stars because of the mixed results, and limited menu. I do believe they are heading in a good direction though. The atmosphere is on the fancier side and we found it a bit more on the quiet side this time around as well. I look forward to our next visit though to be honest. read more

Moxie's Grill and Bar is amazing! We drove in from Montana today, and showed up absolutely exhausted. Our server, Shayne, was amazing, extremely helpful, accommodating, and very knowledgeable about the menu. I got the Red Thai Curry with Chicken, and my boyfriend got the burger (both of which were on the happy hour menu for a really affordable price!) TL;DR (I won't be a patron of Moxie's anymore) The first time I went to Moxie's was actually to apply for a bartender position. While I didn't get that job, I did make some observations regarding this restaurant. It's atmosphere was meant to feel a little upscale. Somewhere you might want to dress up a little. The next time I went was to eat. I ordered my standard bacon cheeseburger. I emphasized that I wanted it plain. And after waiting the average time for my food. I get a burger with everything I wanted on it, plus some sauce I didn't ask for. So it got sent back. And I received what I asked for. Not a huge deal. I wasn't impatient so everything was fine. The next time I went. On a Saturday evening, I went to Moxie's to celebrate my uncle's birthday. So I order the same thing. Making a note that I wanted my burger plain. Just the bacon cheese patty and buns. When I get it, there is a yellow sauce on the top. So the server sends it back. And I get a burger with no yellow sauce. However, as I was about to eat it, I looked below and saw a red sauce and relish on the bottom. So this one gets sent back and I get another burger almost immediately. As everything seemed to be fine. I took a peek at the bottom and discovered that the sauce/relish was simply wiped off and the same burger was sent back to me. I decided that I wasn't going to wait for a new burger this time so I told the manger, who brought this burger out, that they chose to simply wipe it off. He of course apologized and said he was under the impression I got a new burger and complimented the burger off the bill. Two times, two separate occasions. What I found out is that the sauce on the bottom is something called a burger brush. This addition is not mentioned anywhere on the menu. At all. When I go to Wendy's, a fast food restaurant, and order a baconater, all I have to say is I want it plain. And I get it without any extra sauce. When I go to an upscale restaurant like Moxie's I have to be anal about what I want because they have an item added to the burger that isn't mentioned on their menu. If I say plain they take off everything but that burger brush. Not the kind of relaxing evening out I was hoping for. Edit: the server, can't remember his name was great. I really like Moxie's. There food is consistently good, and they always have a variety of interesting drink specials. We've sat in both the dining room and the lounge, and I definitely prefer the serenity of the dining room. The bar area would be great with a large group of people for cocktails and appetizers. read more

went to moxies for a birthday lunch. treated gf and daughter. had loaded cheeseburger and cesaer salad. I noticed on the cesaer salad a brown piece of something. Stupidly, I plucked it off and ate the salad. Within 1 hour of eating the meal, had to dash to toilet. Been sick for three days with some kind of horrible stomach bacteria. Moxie's in Lethbridge has always been a place that we come to for lunch or drinks on the patio. The service is great, the staff are courteous and food is always on time. The food is delicious, the chef cater's to allergies and dietary requirements. Moxie's is a great place for a girls' night or sundowners. read more

Consistently good food. Nice atmosphere. Went there for our anniversary, just wanted a nice meal in a nice atmosphere. The server was friendly and attentive while not intrusive. Brought some tasters of wine for us to pick the right one. One of the salads came out with the wrong dressing, but it was fine and tasted good. They discovered the error and the server tried to replace it but we told her it was fine. The manager came to apologize and replace it, but again wet told him it was fine. Overall a pretty good experience. My server was very friendly and attentive. I didn't have to wait long for my food and my meal was pretty tasty. A number of Moxie's employees checked in on me to see how I was doing, so that was nice. read more

The food is really good, service is always friendly. You will not get cutting edge food here. It is simple, basic, tasty good food. Prices are reasonable. Can be noisy but not near as bad as other places. A nice step up from fast food and a lot better than many places in the same price range. I ordered the Shrimp and Lobster Linguine which came with a cup of soup and a mini dessert. The chicken gumbo was the featured soup on this night so being from the South I wanted to see the take of gumbo from the Canadian perspective. I will tell you this, it is not Louisiana gumbo at all. As my cousin stated it looked like vegetable soup more of a tomato base. It was good however so I cannot knock them for trying but maybe try learning from Louisiana before naming your cup of soup gumbo. Next the pasta came out. When they say baby lobster tail they are not lying on that. It was a mini tail on top with 3-4 big shrimp sprinkled throughout the dish. The tomato sauce had chunks of tomatoes, roma tomatoes, capers, etc. It had a nice flavor to it and the bread was great to sop up the excess sauce. I did ask for some Parmesan and they gave me Asiago which gave it another level of flavor. Now the highlight of my meal came from my mini dessert. The white chocolate brownie was AMAZING. I'm literally writing this review and debating if I'm going back tonight to grab the full serving to go. It came with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and some whipped cream. Nice a little fluffy with the right amount of sweetness that makes you want to know the recipe so you can make it at home. The ambiance of this resturant is something I wish we had back home. A upscale place to enjoy drinks and appetizers, as well as any kind of delicious meals, Yes, I do think so. The food and drinks are excellent here, the service is usually pretty good, however there were occasions where we didn't see our server very often. it is a great place to hang out, go on a date, or just relax with someone special. This place serves food that is more upscale and the price reflects it by being on the higher side but not excessive. Nice surroundings and "feel". Unfortunately fell short on the food. Ordered the sandwich and soup. When they say a one-half sandwich, they mean it! Terrible waiting time. Substandard food, we did not get value for our money. We had to wait about 15 minutes before a server came to our table, apologized for the wait time. The manager offered us free dessert which was never served. We did not mind at this point as we were trying to have a good time with family visiting from out of the country. After did whole housework, my boyfriend took me to Moxie for dinner. The restaurant is located downtown, Lethbridge. It's a big fancy western restaurant. The lounge has a great atmosphere and modern design, which gives customers romantic feelings. The servers were very friendly and helpful. They all wear the black uniforms, which look so nice. We arrived the restaurant around 5 pm. The restaurant was not busy yet, but there were still many people here. We had no problem to get a table. As soon, we sat down, our table server came and brought drinks and menus to us. The menu is very simple selection, but the prices of the food are more expensive than other restaurants (such as State & Main and Boston Pizza). We were struggled for while to order the food. The server was very helpful who introduced the dishes to us. After a few minus, we finally ordered our food. We ordered Calamari (tempura shrimp, sriracha aioli & sweet chili sauce) to share. It was a small dish: Calamari and Shrimp Tempura with deep fried green pepper and pink ginger dipped into sriracha aioli & sweet chili sauce. The sweet chili sauce tasted great for it. After that, we had Slow Roasted Baby Back Ribs full order (fall off the bone tender, your choice of potato + fresh seasonal vegetables) and Herb Alfredo (grana padano, penne, asiago cream, chives). The Ribs were well seasoned and well cooked. The Mashed potato was tasty, but it was too salty. The fresh seasonal vegetables were OK, not very excited. Herb Alfredo was decent with a small piece of Grallic Bread as well. Also, I added their $7.25 soup combo that we can have soup and dessert for the cheaper price. The Feature Soup came with a piece of Grallic Bread. The soup tasted OK, but it was not hot. Little bit disappointed. The White Chocolate Brownie dessert was awesome. I love the french vanilla ice cream so much. The food came very fast, but the server served water very slow. The food was decent. We had a good experience at Moxie's. read more

My husband and I were in for lunch about 3 weeks ago. We frequently go maybe twice a month or so and I have to say this time was beyond horrible! So to start the food wasn't anything special... my husband couldn't even eat his fries as they were saturated in grease. Secondly when the waitress had dropped off our plates my husband's for some reason would just spin which made it very hard to cut a steak sandwich. If the waitress bothered to come and ask how our meal was we could have told her about the plate and disgusting grease soaked fries. So we figured okay we had enough waited for her to come with the bill and when she did she was clearing drinks off the table and dropped a beer bottle on my husband which spilled and then broke on the table leaving glass all over him. Needless to say we will NOT be going back to the lounge side as I hope I never get this server again! read more

I've eaten at this place several times over several months, due to business in town. They bill themselves as a steakhouse, yet you only have a choice of two cuts of beef.... Way too much salt, dry tasteless meat... New Strip..fancy name for a just a piece of sirloin and this is the only choice you have. Not many choices for beer, and one time I ordered one it was flat and tasted old. Most of the menu has non-steak items. Wait staff is very good as well as the calamari. The food was good it was served fast and fresh, but it seems like moxies has a certain standard for how people are dressed. My SO and I were having a lazy day and we were in sweatpants and hoodies and we decided to get some food from moxies because it tastes good and they usually have good service. But instead of putting us in the dining room with everyone else who were dressed a little nicer they put us in a secluded room that was isolate from the whole restaurant and we couldn't talk to each other without the other two people (who were similarly dressed) overhearing our conversation because of how close they were to us. I know it sounds like something silly for a restaurant to do that but it really got to me especially because I could probably buy their whole franchise. Moxies is a very good choice. I have been going here for many years in Lethbridge. The staff are amazing and the food is fast and extremely consistent. If you are taking family out and you need a place that will impress and deliver every time this is the place. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I always feel like they take no risks with their food. They know what they do - give fast, consistent, and good tasting food. I have never eaten there and said "OMG, when can we come back for this dish....this was incredible." Don't get me wrong it's good food but it just doesn't have that WOW factor. The last thing I want is for you to read this review as bad - I gave it 4 stars for a reason as you will not be disappointed.....but you won't be blown away either:) They know what they do and they do it well! read more

I love Moxie's and I think that the Lethbridge one has better customer service than any Calgary one I've been to. Went there with a friend a few nights ago and had a great time. Food was amazing as usual, but could tell prices have really gone up which is why I give it a 4 star rating because I think it is now over prices even though it is good, its just a lot. The white chocolate brownie has been a favorite of mine since I was like 12, and its still amazing! I also love the blackened chicken club which is found under the burger section. Waitresses are beautiful, loveable, sweet and yummy looking... but don't touch!! Went here for my niece's grad, with a party of 15 or so. Our waitress, Jericka, was awful. The whole time she had a generally abrasive disposition. Not very good with people. I asked if she could check with the kitchen and ask if they could still make an item that had been removed from the menu. She told me it was too busy for special requests. It wasn't very busy and she didn't even try. No apology, nothing. Later on in the evening my nephew asked for a root beer float. Once again, she said she couldn't do that. Even though they have the ingredients. No apology, no suggestions, just bad service. To top it off, when we went to pay, she had automatically added the gratuity onto the bill and didn't let us know, so we ended up paying double the gratuity for service I would have rather paid half for. If this place can't train their staff on customer service and relies on the atmosphere alone to bring the customers in, they're going to have a bad time. I won't be back. read more

The food is substandard at best. About 2 months ago I and my dining partner both ordered the linguine with shrimp and crab pesto. I could not eat it as the pesto was so salty it was inedible. The pasta on top was lovely and my dining partner did not mix his in so we ate off of his plate. On May 25, 2013 I again went to the restaurant with the same dining partner. The bruschetta (which is good, was soaking wet in olive oil, with basal that had seen better days - frying the basal doesn't change the fact that it is awful). My dining partners steak salad was lovely, though tough, and my experience with the linguine dish was worse than the first time. The linguine was gluey, stuck to the plate with shrimp that were dry and rubbery and tasted like the bottom of a freezer. It was not too salty, but it was a completely different dish. I picked through it, and 20 minutes after leaving the restaurant I vomited up the meal. Clearly this establishment needs to take food safety and quality control a bit more seriously than they do. Wait staff and building are great, but the food and jacked up wine prices are not worth it. My last time giving them my patronage. read more
