My youngest sister was her POA and caregiver, was never informed about the medications being stopped until 2 days before her death. Comfort meds should've been placed in the home THE DAY OF ADMISSION. The nurse didn't make her initial visit til days later. Your nurse asked my sister if she could take out her catheter because she was "too far". You were negligent in providing appropriate hospice care to our mom. The ball was dropped day after day with nurses scheduling a visit, then never showing up. Yes, I am very opinionated about hospice as I, too, was an Oncology nurse and Hospice nurse totaling 45 years experience. You will be hearing from my lawyer.

We were out of meds and other necessary supplies. I called three times and they kept saying someone would show but never did until she died. It was the most disorganized care I have ever witnessed and resulted in lack of comfort and compassion for my wife when she needed it most. The head of the hospice called me to apologize and said he would call back to follow up with an incident report and this ever happened either. The billing person who works with the insurance company was simply lazy and did not want to make any extra calls. It was from start to finish just a mess and I hope people that read this review think twice before using BJC Hospice. Please choose a smaller company that actually care!

Thorough investigation in that amount of time????? No one ever reached out to me. They lied and said the Clinical Director reached out and listened to my concerns in detail. This is a complete lie-no one reached out to me at all today to listen to my concerns. I talked with her in the beginning when we had issues but not for this complaint on the day of my mother in laws passing. Terrible that this agency can get away with lying and collecting their money without providing the services they promoted and said they would provide. My mother in law had Unity for her end of life care. Absolutely horrible experience. I am hoping another family doesn't have to endure what we did. When i had an emergency, i called the number as instructed, no one called me back, i called again, was told someone would get back with me, no one ever did. I dealt with the emergency by myself but needed to speak with a nurse for direction, but that wasn't happening. There were a couple of really good nurses that came on a semi regular basis, they were professional, friendly and mostly competent. The Chaplain was horrible and started arguing with me on the phone. I stopped taking his calls. We didn't need that extra stress. The social worker called us once never called again. The night my mother in law passed away, i needed to speak with a nurse really desperately. My mother in law had blood(A-LOT) coming out of her mouth. I called the on call, no response, i called again, the on call did call me back about 45 minutes later. I asked for a nurse maybe to come out. No one did. We were all alone not knowing what to do for her. It was the most horrific thing i have ever dealt with. When she passed, not one person offered their condolences other than the nurse that came out to declare her deceased. The social worker said we would have 13 months for follow ups. We have had NOTHING since she passed early January. I did call in the beginning when we started to experience issues, which the administrator Alan told us we could go with someone else. That was his solution instead of trying to fix the issue. I have dealt with many hospice agencies over the years and this is BY FAR the WORST I have encountered. Think twice before going with this agency. I am also checking into how they billed medicare. We have everything documented and if they bill for the services we didn't receive, that is Medicare fraud. I also have to add, i have been calling to try to speak with someone about this since JANUARY to no avail. Just put in another call today. My mother in law deserved better. They should be ashamed of themselves for the horrendous lack of care for not only my mother in law, but for our family as well.

THE WORST. Do not ever hire this company. I hired Pathways at the suggestion of the hospital…read morehospice coordinator. From day one, they pushed and pushed and pushed me to have people and services and products delivered to my house immediately. Had I not had my Mom at my house resting - as she had only had weeks to live - I guess that would have been ok. BUT to have people pushing me to come over (the nurse, the nurse's aide, the social worker, the pharmacy delivery, the chaplain, the massage person, equipment delivery person, etc., etc.) was ridiculous. I needed peace and quiet and time with my Mom - not disrupting phone calls and visits. They couldn't coordinate all these calls/people into ONE central person to get things done??? I had 6 or 7 people calling at all hours to push their way in to my house. Unbelievable. I am guessing that the more people, products, services they could push on to me--the more they could bill Medicare - and therefore the motivation was entirely profit - NOT CARE. You would think a hospice organization would have CARE as their primary goal but instead, it's a business, like any other and profit is their only motive. FURTHER MORE, and this is the icing on the cake, I CALLED THEM an hour after my Mom died to request next day pick up of the hospital bed, etc., as I did not want these things in my house any longer --understandably. The 'nurse' (?) who called me back was so rude, abrupt, uncaring and 'put out' by the fact that she had to call me back at 9pm on a Monday night that I will never ever forget this call. WORSE, she didn't even get the job done. She said she'd coordinate equipment pick up for the next day - but she didn't. I had to call AGAIN two days later to get it picked up. UNBELIEVABLE. Please email me if you need more info and I will respond. Do not ever hire this company. dedec@aol.com

If State would not notify them and show up unannounced maybe thing wouldn't be allowed. I'd noticed that a lot of workers walk around with their ear buds in talking on the phone even when they should be assisting residents in the shower. Also, they will put your loved one on Psych meds without notifying family not even checking their health history. Maybe because the Chief of Psych is also part owner of Delmar Gardens, seems like a racket. No one cares, like I was told by Charge Nurse Sandy "I don't know and I don't care" when discussing my mother's ER diagnosis. It's all about having a body, even if not qualified. Richard( Admn), Brenda (DON), Breanna (Ast.
