How efficient is you guys abortion pill?

Hi there! Abortion pills are over 95 percent effective. If you fill out an intake form with us, the provider will also review your medical history and advise you if there is anything that would cause them to be less effective in your case.

I live in Oklahoma. So yeah, it's kinda tough to even be an ally. Do you do recommendations or referrals to locations that may be within this region or how far someone would have to go?

I would recommend that you contact the national network of abortion funds or apiary collective (they help people with funding to travel for abortion or hotels, etc). In Oklahoma, as far as I know the closest may be Kansas, Colorado, or New Mexico.…

Do I have to live in Maryland to get services?

You do not! We have people travel to our office from other states often to obtain pills. If you are buying pills by mail with Metro Area, you need to be in MD, VA, DE, or ME…

Are children allowed in the waiting room? May support people come to the appointment as well?

Hello, Violet! Yes, many of our clients have young children and don't have a good child care option. I would never let this be a barrier to care. Most of the questions about the abortion and information about the abortion is filled out in the…

What is the difference between services offered at your two locations?

At our Bethesda location we offer Medication abortion, missed period pills, and follow up and related services. At our DC office (Metro Area Advanced Practice Healthcare) we provide more general reproductive health care like annual exams, IUDs,…

Do you have experience working with the trans community?

Hi Imogen, we love working with the trans community and have put in the extra effort to make sure that all of our intake forms and patient materials are gender inclusive. At our other location we frequently see trans clients for hormones and other…

What hours are you open?

Hello, Beca. We have phone/receptionist hours from 9 to 5 on weekdays. Most of our consultations take place online, but we are in the Bethesda office on Fridays for appointments for abortion pills and missed period pills.…

I heard about Foxhall OB/GYN through my primary care physician's recommendation list. When I looked…read morethem up on Yelp, I was turned off by the poor reviews. But because I wanted to deliver at Sibley, I ended up coming here anyway. From the other reviews, it seems like if you're planning an abortion, are press for time, or may have a high risk pregnancy ... you'll not have a good experience here. But for me, it was pretty decent. My pregnancy was for spontaneous natural di/di twins so essentially I was sort of high risk. I ended up having more ultrasounds than the singleton pregnancy schedule. A couple of my ultrasound appointments weren't properly communicated so I ended up having to either wait a little longer or come in another day for the ultrasound. A little annoying but I stayed positive for the babies. In the end, everything worked out well but it was pretty consistent for appointments to start late. During my months coming in here, I saw the five doctors that share their patients. These are doctors Davis-Wilensky, Greene (before she switched out of the five), Messinger, Bren, Lightfoote, and Abraham. The one who ended up delivering our twins was Dr. Abraham and she was phenomenal. Because of my complication, I had to stay in Sibley a few days through the thanksgiving holiday and the doc on call was Dr. Beckerman and he was also great. I can see why others would not like the Foxhall practice and some of their doctors based on the reviews I've read but I've been fortunate and blessed to have a much better experience for my pregnancy. Do what's best for you mamas!

Dr. Desouza delivered our baby boy, Charlie, in December 2014. I can say wholeheartedly that Dr…read more Desouza was the best decision my wife & I made in the entire birth-and-delivery process. Dr. Desouza was exceptional and we would not want to go through the process again without him. As an initial matter, leading up to Charlie's birth, Dr. Desouza was respectful and supportive of my wife's labor wishes, while delicately providing medical guidance where we, as typical DC over-informed parents, knew just enough to be dangerous. We opted for an all-natural, drug-free, vaginal childbirth at Sibley, and Dr. Desouza was entirely supportive of our decision throughout. But as can be expected in life, our hopes for the perfect labor went awry. After 38 hours of natural labor, my wife was exhausted and petitioning for a Caesarian section. We asked Dr. Desouza if he would be willing to perform the procedure, but he suggested an epidural which would permit us to have a vaginal birth. We had come so far, he prompted, why quit now? We agreed, and Charlie was delivered vaginally after an epidural and 42 hours of labor. Charlie's birth was not without complications, but he is now happy and healthy, in large part thanks to Dr. Desouza. Dr. Desouza was calm and assuring when needed, and a fantastic surgeon when it came to repairing my wife of an episiotomy and tear. Perhaps an oft-overlooked, but highly important characteristic in an OBGYN. And perhaps most significant, we learned from the nurses that while Dr. Desouza could have taken us up on our offer for the Caesarian, instead, he missed his own child's Christmas pageant at school in order to allow us to have our natural childbirth. He knew that a vaginal birth was important to us, and he also knew the we had forgotten the option of an epidural after the grueling 38-hour labor; he knew it would take more time to finish vaginally, but he waited. So he recommend to us this option when knowing it would cause him to miss his own child's Christmas pageant. I would venture to guess that there are not many, if any, doctors that would do the same.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Dr. DeSouza and his staff. Dr. DeSouza helped deliver my baby girl at Sibley Hospital in December and I'm grateful to him and the nurses at Sibley (who were wonderful) that it went smoothly.

She always made time to answer my questions or just listen to me cry (often.) The first time I got pregnant and learned the fetus didn't have a heartbeat, Dr. Sarafian said exactly what I needed to hear, which was the right mix of empathy and professionalism. It was difficult, but she was so kind and level-headed about the whole thing, I really trusted her. In my next pregnancy, when I found out my daughter was breech, she walked me through all the options in a very matter-of-fact way. She had no agenda or bias. She always gave me the facts and let me decide what I wanted to do. The baby never turned so I ended up having a c-section. The whole procedure was an hour end-to-end and recovery was extremely fast. I didn't even end up using the pain meds. Many of my friends had horrible delivery experiences with difficult and painful recoveries but I was up and moving in three days. Dr. Abraham saw me last minute on a Friday afternoon which I do not take for granted. She did not rush this appointment, she took notes throughout the entire visit (detailed with dates) and made me feel like she cared about my well being. She was friendly, very knowledgeable, and professional. I left feeling cared for and in good hands. I did not expect anything more than that after 5 PM on a Friday. She proceeded to ensure that I checked out of the office okay, and even called me after I had left to go over our plan. Even better, she consulted with another specialist on my behalf. I cannot explain in this review how much this meant. A little improvement could be found in the front desk services. I was told I would get a call back and never did; though once I got a hold of the nurse station, they were extremely helpful and kind. Still, I highly recommend!

Both Dr. Slate and Dr. Osmun were kind, steady, and supportive during my deliveries and in each case I tried scheduling my inductions with Dr. Loveland because I really felt like we jived well in my appointments and both times my babies had other ideas. That's to say, I felt comfortable with all of the doctors. Did I always have perfect appointments? No, but pregnancy and the pandemic were extremely stressful times and I did feel listened to and cared for and 100% confident in the staff here. Yes there were some nurses that I connected with better than others, but as a long-time patient of Lauren Gordon's, her act is hard to follow as she is simply the best GP provider I have ever had. I have since moved away from the DC area or I would still be going here. I've seen some people complain about the new patient selection process and while I understand that is frustrating I commend Bloom on knowing their limitations and not compromising current patient care for new patients. I have other practices I went to who are always accepting new patients and current patients suffer for it with extended wait times, lack of appointments, and stressed providers. Dr. Osmun explained we may have to have a c section if it got worse, but that he would let me keep trying for a while longer.
