The ribeye was cooked perfect and cut like butter. The flavor on it was also perfect. I liked how the potatoes were cooked but they could have used a little more seasoning. The lemon merengue pie was absolutely delicious too and came along with a nice presentation. I highly recommended this place.

I don't typically like to go out to restaurants for steak as I feel like I can cook a pretty great one myself at home, but this place was highly recommended by my girlfriend's coworker. I'm very glad we came, because this was arguably the best steak dinner I have ever had in my life! We ordered the Steak Tartare, Liver, and 700g of the T-Bone steak to share. (This was way too much food for two people, but 700g is the minimum order for T-Bone). We ate so much meat today, I feel like I need to go vegetarian for a day just to balance my body out. Still, every single item was fantastic. The Liver with the roasted onion puree may have been the standout. It was incredibly tender and flavourful, and I don't normally even like to eat liver. The T-Bone steak was also amazing, buttery smooth such that I felt like I could have cut it with a spoon. Service was great as well, with the wait staff being incredibly attentive and kind. Will definitely be returning to Macellaio RC in the future!

Stemming off of Lost Society fame, the Lost Angel did not disappoint. It helped that there was really incredible food and drink -- I had the best Old Fashioned I've ever indulged in, and my friend drank something along the rhubarb, pear and lemon front that knocked her socks off. The food was just as impressive as the cocktails, and on Thursday and Friday nights, they offer two courses and a cocktail for £20. 1 cocktail, 4 scallops, 1 red snapper and too many pieces of gnocchi later, my tummy was happy, my head was buzzing and the Lost Angel had apparently been found by every living resident South of the river. Service was pretty awful, but in fairness, the venue was literally heaving, inhaling and exhaling people every second. But there were hanging trombone lights, And a glowing picture of the Queen. And a bunch of drunk people in aviator costumes. So I was too amused to notice. If you manage to find this little lost angel, I recommend you pop in and raise a little hell with the regulars.

Places with supposedly endless supplies of meat carved at your table. However, based on my experience, I fail to understand how this business stays viable. We arrived at 1pm. There was only one other party, and they looked native brazillian. We were shuffled to a table in a very tightly packed area where getting out would be difficult. We asked if we could re-locate and reluctantly the guy serving us agreed. A major difficult is that the staff say very little and presume you understand exactly how this whole Rodizio Grill works. Where more people came in during lunchtime with their Groupons, the confusion on what to do was repeated, and the waiter absolutely looked like he was tired of actual businessa and having to interact with people. Whilst I try not to always judge a place on service, this person interacted with customers with borderline contempt. It's fair enough if you're stressed. But this is your job, and to ruin my perception of the business is not any fault of mine. Anyway, to make things worse, we arrived just after a powercut had taken out the electricity. It was quite sunny outside which made the interior look all that much darker. We were not told anything regarding this, just to start helping outselves to the salads and other buffet style food laid out in the back of the shop. It's incredibly difficult when you can't actually see anything! Not to mention it took about 30 minutes for any meat to start appearing... Onto the meats. Given the description of the voucher, I was under the impression that the meat would be cooked to order. However, meat comes around in cycles every 10-15 minutes and you don't get a choice! It's either Yes/No to that round. As non-beef eaters, there were then rounds we couldn't partake in. The one highlight of the experience is that the grill chef noted this and didn't offer us any more beef and went out his way to substitute beef rounds with either pork chicken or lamb. That said, the variety is not as wide as the groupon claims. Not once did chicken heart appear. And some meat was near on inedible. What we did get to try were lamb, pork sausage, pork shoulder, chicken thigh and pork belly. A lot of this was tough, chewy. However when meats came around again, they would sometimes be better or worse. Either way, it was disappointing. Not to mention we were asked a few times whether we had finished, the first time after only having had 2 meat servings. Almost felt like we were being rushed out. The salads/rice/beans were good, but were nothing special. We felt the meats were supposed to be the attraction, but were not good enough, whilst being filled with salad that were actually a lot better. The cocktail was good, but again, I thought we would get a choice. But all you get is Cachaça, which I can't complain about, since I love it. Also the dessert is just an Iceland style chocolate gateau. Disappointing to the max. My dad asked if were could have instead the blackforest gateau right next to it. We were strictly told no. I was surprised, as it wouldn't have cost them anything more, and bought them some goodwill. In all we didn't feel well treated during this lunch and would never go back again. The Groupon choice was restricted to items not clearly explained at the start, service was abrupt and contemptuous, food not near good enough to serve to paying public. I really wanted to have my mind changed about Brazillian food, but this only cemented my bad (personal) experiences with it. Other Groupon holders seemed to be going through a similar experience as eye contact said everything. How this company even managed to sign up to Groupon given the horrendous difficult making a telephone booking is beyond me.

There's no place that puts a smile on your face better than Jack's Place…read more One of the only decent steak houses left in London that doesn't cost the earth, Jack's place overflows with good, old-fashioned home cooking and top secret family recipes passed down through generations (well, I say top secret. They'd probably tell you if you asked. They're that friendly.) Jack's place has the most fascinating history of any restaurant I've been to. Opened in 1968 by retired boxer, Jack Talkington, it is the epitome of hidden gem. Do not be fooled by how easy it is to walk right past it on the busy York road. Once you step in, you can still hear the buzz from the knees ups they used to have, where Jack would notoriously chop off the ties of the businessmen whilst they weren't looking (Jack's place was and is still not for the stiff upper-lipped). The walls are lined with hundreds of ties collected over the decades like medals. If those walls could talk...well, they practically did. Looking like a cross between a vintage boutique and a war memorial museum, every inch of the walls are adorned with trinkets, well-deserved awards, and framed snaps of celebrities on their visits. If it's good enough for Jack Nicholson, it's good enough for me! Jack's Place has well-stocked bar and a menu sporting a few select dishes; quality over quantity - because spending 3 hours digesting the menu isn't fun for anyone. I would suggest wearing loose-fitting clothes to accommodate the generous portions. I started with their garlic butter prawn special, which I don't usually order, finding it difficult to de-shell a prawn in public whilst still looking mildly human. However, the couple on the next table made theirs look delicious (not only do I read the papers over your shoulder - I perve over your meals from a distance. Can't take me anywhere, really...except Jack's Place) so I opted for the same, made extra special by Angela (Jack's daughter) bringing me a twee little bowl of hot lemon water and a mini towel. Their king sized T-bone steak was cooked to perfection, with a classic mushroom sauce and a decent size portion of chips and veg to go with it. Would recommend: Their pecan and butterscotch cheesecake. Tip: Jack's is an intimate little place that would be great for a first date.

Anyone who knows me well knows I love a well-prepared steak the same way I love a well-prepared cocktail (and that's a lot, believe me). 64th and Social has both, and serves them at a reasonable price. I've been to Hawksmoor heaven, but 64th and Social delivers just as well at a fraction of the cost. On Monday to Friday, you can take part in their "Social Steak Club," and for £13 get a 12 oz. Rib-eye or Sirloin (£16 for an 8 oz. fillet) with your choice of starch (which includes choices of various mashes or hand cut chips), sides (all delicious-sounding veggies), sauce...AND...either a glass of wine or a bottle of beer. Arrive there before 9 PM and cocktails (which are already reasonably priced around £7) are £2 off! I had the 12 oz. Rib-eye with roasted garlic, chive, and cracked pepper butter and wholegrain dijon mash and grilled broccolini on the side. The meat is very well-marinated, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. I don't know if I'd get the dijon mash again (it was a bit sour for my liking) but my friend had the hand-cut chips and they were very tasty. The cocktails are absolutely fabulous, too -- one just won the 2010 Jack Daniel's Birthday Cocktail Competition. If you're in for a cocktail that also could double as a dessert, try the Humpty Rummy -- a sweet chocolate and rum concoction shaken with macadamia nut ice cream and topped with salted chocolate. The place fills up on weekends, so they don't take dinner reservations on Friday or Saturday, but my friend and I arrived around 7:30 on a Friday and were able to nab one of the last tables. Definitely worth every penny!

Perhaps it's because my friends are creatures of habit. Perhaps I need new friends .. But anyways, back to 64th and Social. With a recent menu change, it went from heaps of side and starch options (you could choose 1 of each) to now only 6 side options (of which you can choose 2). I generally would applaud such a thing as I am horrible with making decisions but none of them are particularly great so choosing is not an issue. As for the steak, quality seems to be dwindling but it's a pretty good for the price. Having it cooked to your liking is generally not an issue. Although the staff are friendly, the service is not the greatest. Don't get me wrong, it is by no means horrid, but slow and confused is the general story. I am not saying don't go here, but perhaps don't go here weekly? If you are in the area and looking for some steak and a drink or two then pop on by. Otherwise, you aren't really missing anything.
