ROW took us down the Salmon River Canyons and the end of Hell's Canyon on the Snake for 4 days at the end of the 2016 season on what was one of the best raft trips I've ever experienced or could even imagine experiencing. The first thing you should think about when planning such a trip is the skill and reputation of the guiding service. ROW totally rocks! Everything is considered and planned for and if surprises come up (which they always do) ROW gets top marks for handling everything in a professional and incredibly fun manner. The guides were mega-stars; the food and drinks were superlative at every meal, and the equipment was first class. As importantly, it was a great learning experience that ranged from rafting and kayaking technique to Native American history and riverine ecology as well as environmental education about the plant and animal life. Bottom line is that I can't remember a better time on any river anywhere. They made such an impression on all of us that we've already started planning for next year's trip and we can't wait to see them all again. What an amazing experience from start to finish. We just finished the four-day Rogue River rafting trip in early June. From the initial phone call to the last minutes of our trip, we had a 5 star experience. Our guides Tom, Liz, Mike, and Jake were amazing. My children loved Liz and she was exceptional with all the kids on the trip. All of our guides were 100% friendly, helpful, experienced, and stressed safety throughout the trip. The lodges we stayed in were historic, beautiful, and comfortable. Its not Four seasons but its fantastic compared to tent camping. The food was delicious and much better than I was expecting. We had some dietary restriction, and the team was very helpful and accommodating. Our entire family loved the entire trip, even my wife who is not the outdoorsy type. Sure, who wouldn't prefer to go Kayaking on their own, Guide Free? I know I would, but when you are in a town without Kayak and really aren't all that experienced.......ROW Adventures is there. My man and I took the Sunset Tour. Our guide grew up in the area and was able to share with us the history of the town, lake and knew almost everything there was to know about the wild life in the area. I find most guides in any sort of tour annoying because they talk from a script. He did not do this. He simply had a conversation with us, we asked questions...he answered and he asked us questions. It was a two hour Kayak ride that started with a brief but necessary safety chat and took us out and back just in time to see sunset. At sunset some Champagne was popped and then we went back in. You do not need to know how to Kayak to take this tour of the lake, the guide will give you tips on how to paddle and turn. I felt safe the entire time. I recommend spending the money on this if you are in town and want to find a relaxing, informative and active way to end your evening. read more

We rafted the Lochsa River yesterday with Row, out of River Dance Lodge. What an amazing time we all had. It was not our first time rafting, however it was a first with a guide. Crew was fun, educated on the history of the area, and wise on the river. Chris was our guide and he sent us on an amazing ride. Although I teased him that he was getting a thrill out of telling us what to do all day, he kept us motivated and informed what we needed to do, so that we got the ultimate experience on the river. We had a great trip with Row Adventures on the Snake River through Hell's Canyon. The best part of the trip was our guides! Jess, Robin, Seamus, Neil, and Piero made this trip relaxing, invigorating, educational, inspiring, and fun for everyone! And, their sun up to sundown work made this the easiest camping trip we've ever been on. They cooked gourmet breakfasts in camp (eggs benedict, made-to-order omelettes, pancakes, and more), delicious lunches on the beach (fajitas, sandwich bar, etc.), and sumptuous dinners at camp (prime rib, lasagna, cookies, chocolate cake, etc.). They sent a boat downriver each morning to set up camp for us (including all our tents, a kitchen area, and tables and chairs for appetizers and drinks) before we arrived. They rowed those who didn't want to paddle in their spacious, new boats and taught newbies how to paddle and row the big boats. They also had inflatable kayaks to try out. They shared stories of past adventures and history of the area and the natural beauty. They entertained us all in the evenings. And, they brought together a group of adults and teenagers, many of whom had never met, into a cohesive, fun group. The dry climate in Hell's Canyon made camping outside possible, for those who want to sleep under the stars, and the cool river made it easy to stay comfortable all day. Winding through beautiful rock formations, packed with wildlife, and filled with rapids, this area was really interesting. We made daily stops for a hike, a visit to a riverside waterfall, a historical ranch, or just a secluded sandy beach. This was a great trip for families and teens, and would be an awesome trip with just adult friends. There's definitely something for everyone on the trip, either joining in the fun in the evenings and hiking around the area and learning about the nature and history, or just relaxing with a beer after a day on the sunny river. read more

We had the joy of travelling the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in June 2022 with high water levels with Jake, Alec, Kara, Garrin, Josie, Bridgette, Henry, Brian. This was my first trip EVER on a raft and I'm sold! One day 2, we ripped through the rapids of Pistol together and I was so in awe of this exceptionally safe, talented, professional team. Persuaded my lazy brother to go SUPing with me. Friendly staff (Austin was awesome) and neat store. Their rental joint is located in what used to be a bank across the street from Lake Coeur'd'Alene. Complete with old timey safe rooms that have been renovated into changing rooms! Pros: The only place you can rent a stand up paddle board (that I was aware of). Awesome staff. Good boards / paddles (depending on what kind you get.. They have wider ones for beginners and more expensive ones for experienced paddlers). Great lake to SUP on! (Besides the fact there is a lot of activity on the water.. But compared to Western Washington I found the water much cleaner.) Cons: You have to haul the board across the street (very heavy and tedious). Also, may be confusing if you're new to the sport and don't know how to get on as there is no one on shore to help you. Ie: Some sexy gals from Southern had issues so I helped them a bit figure out how to get on. If you bring a friend / ask a nearby person who knows what they're doing then you're all set. Tips for new SUP people: *Get the wider board.They had yellow foamy type ones. Cheaper but I thought that was easier for my brother. *Have them fix your paddle to the right size ahead of time. *Falling in when you start out is normal-- just relax, bend your knees and go with the flow of the water. *Will post more tips later on :) read more

This review is long overdue but better late than never! I was lucky enough to go on one of Row Adventure's most amazing trips last September: a culinary and wine lovers dream visit to The Dalmatian Coast of Croatia- cruising part of the time on the most gorgeous sailing yacht I'd ever seen: The Romanca! There's not much I can say that could possibly do justice to the kind of experience I had on my Row Adventure trip to Croatia! Truly, one of the BEST times I have ever had...and I started out not knowing one other person on that trip! That sure changed and we all soon became fast friends! The staff was absolutely top notch and if I ever had any doubts about going on a tour, they were squashed the moment I arrived at the hotel and met the Row team! Peter Grubb, the owner, is about as hands on as it gets- but without ever making you feel like you are actually on a tour! How is that even possible? I don't really know but somehow he pulled it off! And to be clear, I had previously said I would NEVER travel on a tour of any kind! Boy, am I sure glad I changed my mind! What's great is Peter and the local Row team and guides already know all the great unspoiled places to take his guests and that means you can just enjoy the trip because all the legwork has been done for you. To me, one of the worst parts of a trip you take solo is the planning and figuring things out once you arrive. trying to understand what is really a great place to visit and what is just hype. There's no guessing with Row which makes for more time to just enjoy the vacation! I really like that! (And FYI, Peter plays a pretty awesome acoustic guitar if you are lucky enough to have him on one of your trips)! The cool thing is that I never really felt like I was on a tour, at least not what one would typically think of as a tour! (No guides with flags or matching t-shirts)!! Haha We seriously hiked all over the place and saw the most amazing things on our trip along the Dalmatian Coast, it was like an old friend had tailor made the trip exactly to my specifications. No tour bus stops or tourist traps here- just hands on, personal experiences and the finest food you could find in Croatia! I had no idea what an amazing cuisine the Dalmatian coast offers! Yum!! The restaurants ROW picked were fabulous but very typical of the area and not packed with Americans like many of the other ones we passed. These were real experiences and we got to meet many of the owners and farmers and winemakers along our trip which made it even more special! We were all treated like gold, and I have to say, the friendliest people in the world are to be found in Croatia! Everyone we met spoke English (on and off my tour) and I was stunned by the beauty and hospitality of the people Row arranged for us to visit. Every day was better than the last! For someone like me who is used to traveling all over the world, I was a tough customer, not necessarily expecting perfection but hoping for it- at every turn. I have to say that Row exceeded my expectations by far. Each day on the amazing sailing yacht, Romanca, was another glorious day (Go in September!) and the freshest seafood you will ever taste is prepared from what they catch-right off the boat! It was always plentiful and always prepared in the most creative and tasty ways! Croatian wine and beer flows freely on the boat and the yacht staff onboard could not be any friendlier or more polite. Thank goodness we did so much walking and hiking, otherwise I'd have come back 10 pounds heavier! Cruising up and down the Adriatic sea and the Dalmatian Coast is something EVERYONE should do once in their life...there are just no words to describe it! I seriosuly want to go back! And the only way I can imagine ever doing it again is if I go on another Row adventure tour. My opinion is that when you find a company that gets EVERYTHING right, why go any other way!? And that's exactly how I feel about the trip I had with Row Adventures. The food, the people, the sites and the millions of memories I have from my trip will stay with me a lifetime! Row Row Row your raft... We went with Row Adventures for a class 3 white water rafting trip down the Clark Fork. We had a great day riding the rapids! Our guide, Ivan was the best, helping us to maneuver through best parts of the rapids. With Ivan's guidance of rowing in just the right direction, we actually back up on the river to have a do-over on one of the best rapids. We stopped to jump off rocks and had lunch on a riverside beach. Here's where stars were lost. Lunch was nothing special, which may have been acceptable if we hadn't had a gourmet lunch with a competing company the year before. Make your own sandwiches just doesn't cut it compared to the spread they served us. Sorry Row. We gotta go back, even if its just for the lunch. read more

Okay, I think almost everybody who has lived in this area has rafted the Clark Fork River. It is one of those things to take visitors to do, so like most of you, we have used a few different guide services over the years. Now ROW does had the best marketing program, but that does not make them the best guide service. Let me explain. First of all a great big kudos to their actual river guides, they are a great bunch of people. 5 Mega stars to them. The rest goes down hill. We went of the way through the season and they were having a sale on their waterproof cameras so my visiting friends and myself both bought one. Silly us, it wasn't until we tried to develop the film (one in Spokane and one in California) that we were both told the film was out of date, Not only was it out of date the film had been heated to very high temperatures and also frozen so all of our pictures came out terrible. The second complaint, like somebody else mentioned is that their lunch was very plain. Having been on other competitors you would not think much of it, but give me a break people. We rafted the middle fork of the Salmon river for 5 solid days and ate better food. Overall there are better rafting trips. read more

We had such a great experience with ROW on our recent trip to CDA. They provided a guide, transportation, and equipment for a trail ride at the Bull Run Lake trailhead and also for a class 2-3 Rapids trip we also rented kayaks at in lake CDA at sunset. The guides were knowledgeable, professional, safety-conscious, passionate outdoors enthusiasts and really cool guys. We loved our Rapids trip. We transported from town to the field of dreams where we got all of our PFDs, training in safety and headed to our launch point about another 20-25 minutes away. Our group of thirteen women had a raft, two single person duckies and one double ducky. We went on the Clark fork and travelled most of the day through the meandering river punctuated by beautiful and fun short Rapids. Mo was our raft guide and ducky dad. He is expert and is such a great person . Our float day was the breast cancers fundraiser and in addition to their normal beautiful and healthy lunch spread , we had a stop for a brief service of remembrance and hope for cancer victims and the strong survivors by sprinkling rose petals into the river which we later passed down stream. It was moving and so thoughtful . Next time In Montana or CDA, I'll be back. A perfect day. read more

I wanted to do something fun and exciting for my husband and I anniversary. ROW's friendly professional staff helped me plan the perfect adventure! We went White Water Rafting in Superior, MT. We rafted the Clark-Fork River (class II-III) and had an amazing time! It was a 3 hour drive from North Spokane to Superior, MT! ROW operates on Pacific time, so we got there an hour early! (Oops) We decided to grab a bite to eat at Durengos, which was the only place to eat. It's a typical grease grill. But food was okay. We met up at the sight and had to sign the paperwork, get basic instructions. Just an FYI; they sell eye glass lanyards, t-shirts, towels, hats, and visors.They let you use a rain jacket and a dry-fit sweatshirt. We all loaded on the bus and took about a 10-15 trip to the drop in sight! We got schooled on what-to-do and not-to-do! We were on the river by 10am-ish! It was a great float! Our guides were friendly and easy to get along with! Oh, and extremely knowledgable! We even asked crazy off-the-wall questions! She was on it! The lunch they made us was simple but crazy good! Cold sandwiches with ALL the fixings, chips, dips, veggies, cookies, drinks! We got off the river about 4:45pm! Took another short trip on Max's Magic Bus and was back by 5pm! Don't forget to sign your name! I had an amazing time and would do it again in a heart beat! I paid about $220 for two people for an all day adventure! I think that's extremely reasonable for the adventure! Since we probably would have spent that on a dinner date and not had the awesome experience! A big thanks to our guides, Rebecca & Andrea (?sp)! This review is for the Salmon River Canyons "Family Magic" Trip. People, I'm here to tell you: ROW does Family Travel RIGHT. First, you can't even sign up for "Family Magic" trip unless you are bringing a kid or two (or more!) This means, fellow parents, that you don't have to stress about your darling child being a distraction or too loud or too... childish. Everyone there has a kid! The ROW team is spectacular with the kiddos. All of them. Yes, they have one guide designated as a "river jester" who is charged with keeping the kids entertained in camp. But every single one of the guides was kid-friendly, full of energy, and happy to interact with kids all day. Did I mention they serve TWO DINNERS?!? One at 5ish for the Littles, then a grownup meal at 7ish. Genius. Clearly, the people who designed this trip understand families, and they understand hospitality. And, they are no slouches with river, either. Fantastic days - just the right mix of white water and mellow float time. Great campsites. Unbelievably delicious food (prime rib! cake! cous-cous and chicken tagine!) Sleeping under the starts in spectacular natural beauty, and being unplugged for 5 days and 4 nights with my kid, who I had to practically drag out of the river each day? Priceless. read more

This place is a scam. You cannot get ahold of anyone via phone and they do not return emails. The phone number in Couer D'alene tells you to press 1 to connect to an adventure specialist then it says number not recognized. No one is at their physical office when they are supposed to be open. I booked a fishing trip on lake coure D'alene three weeks in advance. They charged my card. Never heard anything from them was impossible to get in contact with them. The day before the trip I was panicking trying to figure out who the guide was and where to meet them and then just decided to dispute this with my credit card company. I decided to go with Fins and Feathers instead. We fished with captain mike and had an outstanding day on the water, caught alot of fish. I would highly recomend Fins and feathers they are a top notch guide service that is professional and clearly communicates with you about your trip. AVOID ROW ADVENTURES at ALL COSTS. THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY AND RUIN YOUR VACATION!!!!!! read more

We just finished the Middle Fork of the Salmon River raft trip. It was our second raft trip with Row and we were not disappointed! The guides were amazing. They were knowledgeable of not only the river, but also the geography, history, and plant and animal life. Everyday was a new adventure. The food was absolutely amazing. I still don't know how they are able to provide the quality and variety of meals. Each meal was like eating at a high class restaurant. It's pretty spectacular when you can have eggs Benedict or prime rib or steak wraps all prepared riverside!! We had a wonderful time and felt every penny was worth the experience. Great family adventure! We signed up for the 5 day Salmon River family adventure and it was awesome! The trip had the right amount of adventure, i.e. white water, and family time. The guides were personable and knowledgeable and the other families had kids with similar age range as our own. Our daughter had someone to swim and run around with the entire time. The river jester was so helpful in keeping an eye on the kids and having activities for them. After a tiring day, it was nice to come back to a site with the tents already set up and meals prepared. I did the half day fly-fishing with Mark. I would suggest booking with ROW as the process was very easy and they had all of the requisite equipment. Mark was a great guide. First he furnished healthy snacks. Second, on our way to the fishing spot, he attempted to locate a moose, which we finally found. Once we arrived at the fishing spot, he furnished me with some helpful pointers and assisted me with the equipment-including tying flies. I liked the fact that he was very persistent. We went on a horrible day, lots of wind and it had just rained. Anyways, we were not to be deterred. He suggested various flies and ultimately we switched spots and eventually caught a cutthroat trout. He has vast knowledge of flies and he is a fun guy to go fishing with. read more

I've taken two river trips with ROW. The first was the Salmon/Snake river, the second was the Rouge River Lodge trip in Oregon. The guides handle the rafts like pros and are extremely knowledgable about the surrounding areas. At the same time, they know how to have a lot of fun and keep the flat parts of the river exciting. Our family did a raft trip on the Main Salmon with several other families and had a great week on the river! The Main Salmon is fairly easy from a whitewater perspective, but the scenery, guides, food and smooth logistics made it a trip we still talk about. Especially impressive was the system the guides had for setting up camp before we got there so that we could relax, swim or read before dinner. We felt well taken care of on the river and off. My wife and I used ROW Adventures to go fly fishing for the first time, and it was a very enjoyable experience. The guide, Nick, picked us up in the morning for a half-day fly fishing trip in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was not only a really cool guy, but also a great teacher. In a very short period of time he was able to teach us to effectively fly fish (it takes years to become an expert, but we were able to learn enough to be competent). ROW Adventures has exclusive licenses for some of the best fly fishing spots in all of Idaho, so we were able to enjoy some amazing scenery while we waded through the Coeur d'Alene River. I have done two trips now with Row Adventures (Middle Fork/Salmon & Snake) and both trips were outstanding. My most recent trip was during the 1st week of July down the Snake. There were five guides (Miles, Walker, Will, Connie & Bethanny) and they were all very knowledgeable on this history of the area and excellent water guides in general. If you are interested in the experience in camping and rafting on the river without all the work then you should check out ROW. The only real work involved is taking down your tent and packing your gear each morning. Everything else is done for you. For meals we had Prime Rib and potatoes one night, another night we had multiple choices for Salmon. In general the food is fantastic, especially for being in the middle of nowhere. read more

I'm a little slow with this review, but I've recently discovered Yelp. Our family did the Family Magic Salmon River Canyons trip. It was amazing. They had a guide dedicated to playing with the kids and our kids had a blast. Our kids were 7, 12 and 17 and they all had a great time. The campsites were beautiful with huge sandy beaches, the whitewater was really fun without being too intense for the kids, and the food was delicious. All of the other guides were fantastic too and you could tell the guides loved what they were doing. Rachel told us a lot of Spokane history we didn't know about (and we live in Spokane). She also interacted wonderfully with our girls and we all had a great time! Will definitely do this again with them and also plan on trying SUPing. We went rafting for the first time on the Lochsa River, Memorial weekend! We had the greatest time! ROW was great to book with and extremely friendly! We camped at the camp ground in Syringa at the lodge and everything was great. All of the river guides were awesome. We loved our guide Neil. He made the trip even better! He was very informative and I could really tell he knew what he was doing! This trip sparked a new adventure I think we will be doing every year now! Can't wait for next time!!
