It's taken me some time to write this.. Dr Chris came to my house to help me ease my Bowie to the rainbow bridge. He was very patient with both Bowie & myself. It was not planned- but the dr put my mind at ease that I made the right decision. The dr gave me time alone with Bow after he took his last breath- he also did a footprint on the spot for me. Dr Chris was kind and I needed that in the situation. He treated Bowie just as I would wish- like a friend/family. If you must make this hard decision- I would highly recommend River Vet care. read more

Our cat Quark got sick with cancer very abruptly and, unfortunately, we had to make the decision to put him down. Chris from Rover was available to come the next day. He was the proper balance of compassionate and level-headed that you want from a vet. He validated our decision and everything went smoothly. We miss our Quark but are grateful for Ri services that allowed us to send him off at home in our backyard with dignity. read more

For any pet owner I can't think of a better place to handle your pet's final needs. We lost our very special girl, Orie this morning who was a special dog for 14 plus years, She was a wonderful friend and companion. She was a blessing that was rescued from a kill shelter as a puppy who had been abandoned. It was love at first sight and a feeling that she was an old soul who captivated our hearts from the very first day to the last. We met Rover Veterinary Care when our other dog Mia became sick quickly. I will never forget how wonderful they were when we called and then came out to euthanize her. Dr. Chris came out today to do the same thing for our beloved Orie and was as heartfelt, attentive and kind as anyone can be when you are facing the loss of a beloved pet. Special people who do a special task for the pets in our lives when their time runs out. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. read more

I was fast approaching time to say good-bye. Timing was awful because I was expecting house guests the next day and had a very sick dog. My dog was having trouble walking, stopped eating, and labored breathing. Just one week earlier, she was behaving fairly normally, although seemed a bit tired but given her age, she gave me no reason for concern. THIS WAS DURING COVID I tried to get an appointment with our regular vet however they were so overwhelmed with patients due to the COVID surge of new dog owners they could not see my dog for 2 weeks so they recommended Dr. Matzke. Dr. Matzke returned my call right away and said she would be available to come to our home when I was ready. This is a long story, but Dr. Matzke did not end up coming out after all because my regular vet was nice enough to call back and agreed to stay after hours see my dog for an end of life assessment. After labs, ultra sound, and X-rays, the news was not good. This was our 9th dog we have put down so I prepared myself--but it never gets any easier. Their weakened, tired arthritic bodies hold on until they know they've completed their job here on the physical earth. 4 months prior to her last day, she had done her job. We had acquired a puppy of the same breed to our family. In her last months, big sister taught the puppy all the rules. How to use the dog door, how to walk nicely on a leash, gave the puppy fair corrections on puppy biting and letting the puppy know when play got too rough. When we face another impending loss, we will be calling Dr. Matzke. read more

Overnight we had to make the hardest decision as a family. Our 13 year old cat needed help going to his eternal life. The day was 12-24-22 and we called everywhere and everyone was either closed or at full capacity. Katie was my last shot for any hope. I filled out her form and within 3 minutes she called me and was at my house in under an hour. Katie you are an absolute angel and we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your overall manner was so drawing and calming. You treated Dexter and all of my family with dignity and compassion. Thank you for your service and kindness. Love, Dexter and the Jenkins read more

Today we said goodbye to our 13-year-old Great Dane/Bull Mastiff, Dexter. ***skip ahead to the asterisks if you don't need context*** I'd been dreading this day ever since his health started declining about a year ago. This beautiful beast gave us everything he had for the last 13 years. My daughter grew up with him and she barely remembers a time when he wasn't here with us. He was a protector, a sympathetic listener, and a great friend. He was our family. If there was one thing he was ever scared of it was going to the vet. I'd planned on letting him die naturally rather than have his final moments be lived in fear. ...But as time passed and he started struggling with the pain and confusion that naturally come with age, it felt unfair that he had to suffer like that. When I heard about at-home euthanasia from a friend, I was very hesitant. I didn't think I'd be able to afford it and honestly, I was just scared in general. I don't deal with death very well and my daughter has never experienced it. (I grew up in the country and all my previous pets had very traumatic deaths) But it was much more affordable than I expected and after watching him decline for a couple more months we finally decided, as a family, that it was time. **** Dr Chris was very soft-spoken and kind. He met us in a grassy park and Dexter was so distracted with Oreos that he didn't feel the injection. The entire process was less than a half hour. It was peaceful and painless (for the dog). Watching him drift off to sleep in the sunshine with all of us petting him and telling him he was the best boy... It was hard but it was the best scenario we could have asked for. After his heart stopped, we spent a few minutes saying goodbye. Then, Dr Chris made a clay pawprint and took him to the crematorium for us. It was a gentle and loving experience and I'm so relieved knowing he's resting and not in pain anymore. Most of all, I was grateful that Rover was willing to tailor the service to make him as comfortable as possible. He spent his whole life making sure we felt safe. He deserved to die without pain and fear. read more

10/10 would recommend to use, 10/10 hope you never have to. This is not exactly the most fun review to have but Katie at Rover Vet was incredible. Not only was she compassionate about the fact that I had to put my dog down but she truly took the time to explain everything, allow me a chance to grieve and say goodbye and did not rush the process. It was special for me to get to have my dog be able to be home and say goodbye there rather than at a vet office but it was still crushing emotionally. Luckily, Katie helped make the situation better with her professionalism and gave me the chance to do what sadly needed to be done. I would use this service again but hope to never have to. read more

Definitely not an easy review to write but nonetheless a very comforting experience thanks to an amazing team of Vets. In a matter of a few days I learned that my sweet Rosie had a health condition which rapidly affected her quality of life. I had to make quick decisions towards the end of the week, and had reached out to another in-home vet but it sounded like it would be days of waiting (which I wasn't sure would be feasible given the uncertainty of my doggie and her wellbeing). Having to quickly weigh out all options I realized I preferred an in-home to have Rosie as stress free during her last day with us at home. I reached out to another newer vet in-home provider who could only come out the following week, but they directed me to the visiting angels website where I came across Rover Vet care. My call was answered immediately and compassionately by one of the doctors, and to my relief they could come out the same day (being a friday) and offered an evening slot. After confirming with the Vet Dr. Chris, I was given instructions on what to expect during the visit, and even a seamless way to get payment out of the way. Dr. Chris explained each step throughout the process and I appreciated all of the warmth and compassion that was provided throughout this experience. It was also endearing to learn that the Vets that work with Rover also work at the Nevada Humane Society, so it was a full-circle experience with my Rosie being a Res-que doggie. I know when the time comes again to get a new pet family member and although I don't like thinking this far ahead but if ever needed again for an in-home service I would hands-down go with Rover. I also appreciated the variety of options for pet remains and found them to be very customizable and special. Thank you Rover for being such a comfort and Pet angels to our furry family members! read more

We made the extremely difficult decision to put our beloved 15-year-old pup down on Monday 5/5/25. Dr. Chris was incredibly kind, thorough, and patient with my husband and I as we went through her process. Dr. Chris and Rover allowed us the opportunity to put her down at home where she is comfortable, with her doggie brothers present, pain free, in the sunshine, held by her mom and dad. I could not have asked for a better experience, considering the nature of the visit. My deepest gratitude, and thanks for Dr. Chris and everyone at Rover. read more

Making the dreaded decision to release my best friend, the wonderful Blue Heeler, Zephyr, was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I was very fortunate to be connected with Dr. Katie from Rover Vet Care. She was very compassionate and understanding in a very stressful time. She addressed all my concerns and was thorough not only up front, but throughout the whole process, returning phone calls promptly and being there when needed. I cannot recommend Rover more heartily. Dr. Chris arrived at my home promptly and was informed of everything he needed to know. No dumb "What's your dog's name?" questions. My 14 year and 11 month old beagle, Sophia, began to experience the late stages of kidney and liver failure for the past month. We tried some fairly aggressive treatment but she wasn't getting better. Our vet recommended home euthanasia as the best choice due to the number of tough vet office visits she had to endure. Thanks to Yelp!, we found Rover Veterinarian Care. Dr. Katie Matzke was so caring and supportive while taking care of Sophia for the last time. Let me just start off by saying what an amazing service this is! I adopted a Japanese Chin named Biggie around 11-12 years ago from the Humane Society. Biggie recently turned 14 and started to slow down quite a bit. I knew his time had come, but for my brother, who LOVED Biggie, he had never experienced the loss of a pet. My brother would take Biggie everywhere with him, take photos of him/with him all the time, cuddle, the works! I was thankful when I reached out to Dr. Matzke that she got back to me so quickly. She was nice enough to schedule us in for the same day. My brother ended up wanting one more day with Biggie. She understood and moved our appointment to the next day. When his appointment time came she was so kind and explained the entire process to my brother. She was so gracious and made it to where my brother didn't focus so much on the euthanasia process but more on that he could sit with and love on Biggie as he passed on. She gave us a paw print and a lock of hair. She let us have as much time as we needed to say bye and then put Biggie in a blanket and put him in a basket. She did an amazing job taking as much stress out of a sad situation as one person could. She's absolutely amazing! We are beyond thankful for her and the services she offers. read more
