Definitely read up on the guy while browsing the historical marker and statue behind it. There are some memorials here, including a Vietnam War one. The park is not that big but it is the first and last thing you see when coming into Williams, depending on the direction you're coming from.

The "park" features a few trees, as well as some statues and memorials dedicated to veterans. There are a few parking spots on the north side of the park, and during the holidays, they string some Christmas lights in the trees. Come to think of it, it is actually kind of pretty at night. Not much to it, I suppose, but perhaps it is a nice place for locals and passersby to remember their loved ones who served our country. On a lighter note, and certainly not meaning any disrespect for the former sentiment, there is a pokemon go gym here... if you're still into that sort of thing. If you are looking for a place to let the kids run around, head North a little bit, to the softball field area closer to Highway 40. Probably safer, and definitely a lot more space for them to burn off some energy earned pent up in the hotel room watching bad basic cable.

It cuts through the Mogollon Rim in the Kaibab National Forest and is located between Sedona and Williams. It can be a bit of a drive to get to as it is pretty remote. The canyon itself has all sorts of cliffs, pinnacles and buttes along it that rise out of the bottom. If you are into nature photography, the texture of the cliffs makes for great shots. The Rim Trail has several access points and forms an 11 mile loop. The northern and western sections of the loop trail travel through forest while the southern and eastern portions line the rim of Sycamore Canyon. There is also a trailhead that takes you to the falls. The best time to see Sycamore Falls is after the winter when the snow melts. Unfortunately when I went in the later part of summer, it was dry. But it is still a breathtaking sight to see! Sycamore Canyon is also a popular rock climbing area and you shouldn't try it unless you are experienced.

We went on the polar express train ride over the weekend. There are a few packages you can choose…read more You can do just the train ride experience or the hotel stay with dinner and breakfast at the buffet and the train ride included. I want to start off with the hotel stay. The hotel was decked out in Christmas cheer and has a huge courtyard with some trains. The front desk receptionist was extremely friendly and full of information. I want to say her name was holly. She gave me a run down of what to expect a map of the hotel grounds and told me a little about the show/train ride. We then went to the room which was decent sized clean and had a fridge and tv. Dinner was great at the buffet and there is also a bar inside the hotel that serves food after hours. The train was really cool and fun with singing and dance cookies and hot chocolate. Definitely recommend this experience

Historic Route 66 has Americana-style shops and restaurants dating back to the early 1900s. It's home to the Route 66 Zipline and Pete's Route 66 Gas Station Museum, featuring highway memorabilia. To the east, Bearizona Wildlife Park has bears, mountain goats, bison and birds of prey. Take a walk down the streets to look and read all of the Historical plaques. I have posted many of these photos. Many of the old historical buildings are now gift shops. There are a lot of cute stores with neat things to buy. There are also some neat stores with real Native American jewelry and pottery. The residents here are very nice and pleasant.
