What do you think of when thinking about chain motel restaurants? For me, it's usually some uninspired menu of staples delivered by indifferent chefs and staff who probably have to clean rooms in the morning.
None of that applies to the Roundabout Restaurant. It's part of the Best Western Plus Charles Sturt motel - however it has a chef who zealously wants to highlight local produce,and employs enthusiastic servers to help out.
Our couples night commenced prior sunset with a sublime beef tartare and a mushroom ravioli which was the epitome of quality dishes. A bottle of local Chardonnay set us up for the mains - the pork combo of belly and terrine with scallop accompaniment was old, dried and unappealing in the darkness of night.
The staff did apologise for the dish, and said it was from a new menu.
As the starters were fantastic, and the pork was not regionally sourced like their lamb and beef, I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt and say they can be the best choice for a dining experience in Wagga Wagga for a visitor. read more
