I've always felt bad for the Roundabout since Zookeeper's opened up - they took all their business and I often see the Roundabout with only a few people whenever I pass. So I made a point of trying to go and support the local business . . . my mistake. I went the first time for a quite lunch - food portions were small for the price as were the glass sizes for the drinks. I left still hungry but when I saw they had a voucher for unlimited grilled meat I decided to give them another go. The deal promises unlimited grilled meat and vege with a bowl of potatoes to start. The potatoes alone took half an hour to arrive and then as each kebab of meat/vege came out if took about another 15 minutes in between. It was ridiculous really - a dinner that should have taken 1 and a 1/2 hours max took 3 hours and when we asked for more meat kebabs they made us feel like it was a burden to cook them. The flavours were nice enough, but besides the chicken all the other meats were very tough - not well cooked at all. I would not go back and would not recommend the grilled meat meal to anyone. If you are after all you can eat grilled meat, go to Town Grill in Manukau - now that's what I call service!
N.B - this is just an edit as I forgot to mention this before. They have a pokies at the back area and we were decided to try our luck. As soon as I was up $40 I took out all my money - all up me and my mum had $80. My brother in law however hit the machine jackpot and won $190! We both cashed out to take our money up to get it exchanged for notes. He went first, yet when the guy weighed the cash he said it was only $182 - I was right there when he won and when he cashed out - it was definitely $190. So mysteriously $8 went missing. Not wanting to be duped by this guy I counted out every $2 coin in front of him and counted exactly my $80, however when he weighed mine I mysteriously now had $82. Very dodgy practice with the staff and would be very cautious about ever going there for the pokies! read more
