The current event coordinator, Mariah, knocks everything she does of of the ball park. I was here for another wedding, and I was in for a huge surprise. There were many improvements, too many to list! The new wedding area is perfectly located. A permanent Arbor is there for the couple to decorate as they wish, or not. We wanted cabin style lakeside housing that was simple yet provided options.... Appeldoorn's delivered. We rented cabin 1 which is 300 feet from the water. They have a sandy beach with two docks and water toys for kids including kayaks, paddle boats, a blob and in water slide. Throw in a sandy beach that is sifted daily you have a great place to enjoy this massive lakes beauty. The front desk is extremely helpful and they have a lot of convenience store items available for reasonable price. They also arrange fishing chartered and have rental equipment weather permitting. We also dined at the resort for breakfast and dinner and were impressed with the quality and originality of the food. The dining options are closed Monday and Tuesday so you will need to explore the local area. They have four varieties of housing and they all seem pretty awesome, we are definitely planning to return!

Some things weren't operational in the game room which disappointed the kids, but these are serviced by third parties and aren't always able to be fixed right away. However, the campgrounds were incredibly well-kept and the kids had a ton of fun as did the adults. We were able to do smores, enjoy the water and not be forced to be too close to our neighbors. Showers/bathrooms were clean and the hosts were super friendly. I would definitely camp here again!

There was a nicely manicured area and a perfect aisle with chairs on both sides. This was a very picturesque site, and just perfect for the 20+ guests. We just returned from a stay at The Sandy Beach cottage and had a wonderful stay! The cottage was large with a huge deck on the lake. There was one room with a queen bed and another room with2 double beds and a small connected bathroom with no tub. There is also another full bath off the hallway. There is a fire pit, a dock right below,and a gas grill. The kitchen had dishes and most needed essential items. There was also a washer and dryer in the unit. We rented a pontoon one of the days and even though it was pretty old it still worked fine for our needs. There was a bit of a mix up with our pontoon rental but management went out of there way to make sure they fixed it and that we were happy. It's only about a 30minute drive to Duluth which is nice for a day trip. The beach area is wonderful also. Will be back!

Don't waste your money or time! Very bad management at Sand…read morelake Resort MN - the office was closed the entire week we had booked, no air conditioning on a 98 degree day. I had to leave a message and when the management finally came he was rude, and asked if we had "messed with any buttons" then left before I could respond. They would not call to get the air fixed as it was Saturday. We had to wait until Monday eve for the air to be fixed (needed freon, you would think they would have checked this). They put a giant dock right where the beach used to be, boat engines 5 feet from the dock. I don't think that this is environmentally safe, but they don't seem to care. Very unprofessional, need customer service training! The beach was filthy, nothing put away at end of day. I won't be returning, my 86 year old mother almost died of heat stroke. We were "upgraded", his words, to a large cabin by the road where we could hear all the traffic, and not see the lake. We also had to move three times with no help from them, as I said - they could care less.

Affordable and well-run, even on a low-occupancy Monday. They even provided free firewood at the tent site. Be sure to check out their cabins. They look really cute and comfy. Only downside, tenting, is that due to Hwy 6 construction, lots of detour traffic goes right by Red Rider. Kinda noisy, but didn't disturb my sleep after 7 hours pounding the Cuyuna Bike Trails!
