Shade appears to be very important to me so I was happy that there's plenty of trees to provide shade on the trail. There's paved and unpaved trails within the park. There's also sheltered picnic areas, a playground, washroom facilities (that happened to not be open when we went) and a pavilion but that was also not open. I liked that there was hardly any noise from cars on the roads so you can fully take in your surroundings and enjoy nature while you're there.

Although the park is a typical park - green grass, baseball diamond, soccer field, it is the trail that leads off the parking lot that scores this park so high in the ranking. The trails link up with the McMichael Art Gallery grounds, which can then lead you to the Kortright Centre. A few times during the year I'll drive the 10 minutes or so (from home) to walk my dogs along the trail system. Along the way you'll pass other walkers with pets, or people just out exercising along the trails. Great way to feel miles from no where.......

The trail itself is not extremely easy as there are some steep hills, but it is very peaceful and enjoyable. The little stream inside makes it very serene. The only negatives is that a lot of people don't make way for others and understanding the direction of where the opposite directions are supposed to stay on which side. Perhaps a line should be drawn onto the path? Note: don't hog the path and walk in the middle. Stay on the right side on whatever direction you're coming from. If you are a pair walking, go single file if there is other people coming. Don't keep walking side by side, it's hard to physically distance if you aren't doing your part too. Another note: if you're going to take a break, please stand off the path and on the grass.

Inside the Tract you will find many kilometres of trails, a pond and plenty of shade for the warmer weather. Great for many outdoor activities such as hiking, photography, dogwalking and horseback riding. It is vast enough that you will find some privacy but at the same time it is quickly becoming a very popular attraction. In the spring be careful as it can be muddy on some of the trails. In summer some days can bring the usual pests like mosquitos and ticks. Our favourite time to visit the Tract is in the fall when the leaves are changing yet still warm enough during the day. It's also a great place for nature photography. Many travel to the area for winter hiking and snowshoeing. Great for families, joggers, dog walkers and people of all ages.
