I was a little disappointed by this restaurant, it had been recommended but we found it slightly odd as the cuisine was very international (Thai soup, beef en croute, fish and chips) and there was no real Frenchness about it despite being in the heart of a beautiful French village.
The owner is from New Zealand and he is an attentive and charming host. Service is good and the atmosphere also good even if the most of the diners were English speakers.
The food was fine, really good Thai soup, perfectly edible but unremarkable ratatouille, tasty fried chicken strips, and a small meringue which was very sweet and a good taste. Butit was quite expensive relative to the prices in the other restaurants, the quality was OK but short of outstanding and the portion size was modest. Presentation was good though.
Wine was OK, considering this was France I had hoped it would have been better.
Overall I got the distinct impression that corners were being cut to make this a profitable business and it showed. The restaurant is only open from Friday to Monday and they prefer you to reserve a table rather than just turn up.
I wouldn't go back but I would urge you to try it to see what you think perhaps I've been a bit harsh. read more
