The neighborhood the hotel is located in is a little sketchy as people hang around corners and by the parking lot. It would seem to be right to have parking for the hotel even if it's chargeable at a daily rate. The lobby area of the hotel is more of a hangout. We got into the room only to find a bed full of hair strands everywhere and in the opposing room (suite) there were chairs (love seat and oversized chair) under the daylight looks as if there were consummation occurring or animals laying all over them. We called the staff for additional sheets to put over the bed and chairs so that we could at least enjoy them however no one came. It wasn't until that evening we were coming in from dinner that the nice night staff brought us one. My suggestion is to remember you get what you paid for......unfortunately. .........lesson learned.....

Driving to Ahoy was just a breeze, plenty of parking space. **ok The lobby looks like it has been forgotten since 19never, it is out of date. We spent 3 night, each time we time we had to renew the keycard, refusing to give us 2 cards was a bit frustrating. Ok ok ok: staff I am always friendly to get the best out of people, however when you have staffs who are not happy with the current owner it is never ever a good sign. After complaining about our room not being clean, the hotel staff are trained to just ignore the issue and dismiss you as a guest. HUGE room, a gorgeous pool, adequate fitness room, and a HOT sauna! Great bar. Nice pours of wine for $3.50 E. Staff is super friendly, downtown is a 10 minute bike ride away and the front desk has maps. I will ALWAYS stay here when I stay in Dordrecht from now on. Maxima offers all the suspect Bakkerij essentials including your choice of broodje or durum doner (chicken or veal), and also falafel for those engaged in more animal-conscious diets. They also sell a wide range of Turkish pastries both savory and sweet; alongside some of your favorite flavored yogurt drinks from Asia Minor. My recommendation is either the broodje kip with the works + hot sauce, or if you like the durum better, I'd go with kaaf without the hot sauce. Unless you're vegetarian and absolutely have to eat here because all your other buddies are eating too, I wouldn't order the falafel; they take it out of a freezer and it comes out a little soggy even after a thorough frying. Mine was nice enough - two twin beds, a table with two chairs, a desk, a hot water maker, a mini fridge, a fan, and a wardrobe. The bathroom was quite small and no-frills. Various bath items were offered: shampoo, conditioner, cream, sewing kit, and shower cap. Instant coffee, tea, and hot cocoa were also in the room, along with a couple cookies each day. There is no free internet, at least not for the standard double rooms. I found the room comfortable overall, but the bed was far too soft/saggy for me. If I lay on my side, my leg would fall asleep eventually. Firmer mattresses would be nice. The breakfast was good - coffee, tea, juices, cereal, muesli, canned fruit, yoghurt, hardboiled eggs, a basket of bread (raisin, white, rolls, croissant), a tray of cheese and meat, and a basket of butter, jam, hagelslag, and other spreads. It was a filling breakfast - so much so that I skipped lunch or just got a quick pastry each day. The staff was very nice. They got me into a room early (as I'd just arrived from the US and was very tired), were always helpful at reception, and were friendly and chatty at breakfast. It is convenient to their home (not a far walk). If you visit Leiden, it is close to the medical center and university. Tons of trains arrive and leave here, so we never had to wait for very long for the train we needed. Dutch trains are very much on time, unlike Germany! If you need a snack or drink, there's a small Albert Heijn and a Backwerk on the lower level, as well as kiosks on the platforms where the trains are. Toilets in the train station do cost so have some euros for that.
