On a weekday evening, our kitchen sink was clogged. We found out the hard way that the pipe to the kitchen sink also ran the washing machine water out on drain cycle. So, dirty water flowed all over our kitchen floor--under the fridge, in the vents--everywhere! We called a plumber as a last resort since they are expensive and it was two days before Thanksgiving. (We tried household drain cleaner and a short snake to try and get it unclogged before the huge water spill.) The only 24/7 plumber in the city was Roto-Rooter. They only have one plumber on call and he was already at a job. So, they put us on the schedule for the next morning. To my delight, Rob the plumber was there at 8 am. He was professional and friendly. He used a 75 foot snake auger down to the sewage line and was able to brake up the clog. It was done within 20 minutes and cost us $210. My only issue was the price. I am not sure what costs so much if all that was needed was an auger. We could have rented one for less than $50 and saved us a ton of money before the holidays. I know the guy doing all the work isn't getting most of that money, which in my opinion is bologna. I would hire them again if needed. We called Roto Rooter for a Friday drain clean out as our water had been backing up into our guest house (prior to in-laws coming to visit Monday - the horror!). We had a bit of a blunder with the first technician, but the Manager called and assured us that we would be taken care of. He was incredibly professional and delivered on all promised, especially regarding the first miscommunications. Joel, our new technician came out later on Friday and spent a good 4 hours that evening investigating and working on our problem. When something didn't work he'd try something else or make a trip back to the shop to bring out the full arsenal, and literally made it his goal in life to get us fixed up. He was super nice and involved us in everything he did and the struggles he had (we had a wicked root growth problem). He had to come back Saturday after some of his hydro-blast water receded, and he did exactly that - I'm pretty sure he started his shift early to cover us, too. Our problem was fixed Saturday, thanks to Joel. Our kitchen sink plugged up and backed up on a Sunday night around 7pm. After trying to fix it ourselves for over an hour, we decided to get professional help. I went online and requested an appointment for the next afternoon (when I'd be home from work). The next morning we received an email confirming our appointment for that afternoon and then received a call during the first few minutes of our appointment time stating the technician was on the way. He arrived within 20 minutes, was very courteous, wore booties to protect my carpet, and had the problem fixed within 35 minutes. (The problem was expecting my garbage disposal too handle too much! FYI to others-use your garbage can not your garbage disposal for leftover meat, rice & pasta!) The technician even checked on the bathroom sink after I told him that it had backed up a little as well. Before leaving, he gave me a bottle of liquid with instructions of how much to put in the drains once a month to help prevent the issue in the future. Estimate was $188.00 but with the $10 coupon off the website cost was $178.00. Hope not to have this problem again but if I do will definitely call Roto-Rooter again. read more

From the on call person to the service man I had a great 1st experience;- Ed Sullivan was my 1st experience with Roto Rooter and it was great. Ed took the time to allow me questions; explaining each step as he was doing them- Letting me understand that he cared. I was impressed that Ed put the camera in the line 1st- found the clog; then got the main auger and worked for almost 2 hrs on the main drain line. Then he took the time to run camera thru the sewer line toward house, and then toward main sewer so that I could see any issue in my sewer lines. Unfortunately we were not able to get all the way to main sewer because of an offset. The line looked very clean. Ed was very professional; and enjoyable to talk to; Ed even got concerned for me when I tripped and fell on top of his work . I was not hurt but Ed was very concerned. Ed took care to put shoe protectors on when he came into my home. I apprecaite that. The value of the service was also great. I was able to get sewer cleaned out and scoped with a camera for LESS than I paid 1 year ago with another local service. I would recommend Roto-Rooter and Ed Sullivan to all my friends. While washing some dirty laundry on Saturday morning, I noticed my toilet and sinks started to make a gurgling noise. Before long I realized that water was overflowing onto my floors by the washer and onto the carpet. I started to panic and had no idea who to call. I called 3 companies that had reputable names. Our review is based solely on the professional named Tyler. On Christmas eve we had a toilet back up and it was a terrible mess in our basement. Several places in town didn't even answer their phone, but Tyler did. He answered our questions and tried to talk my husband into waiting until Monday when it wouldn't be as expensive but we had to have working plumbing and couldn't wait. Tyler disclosed exactly how much it was going to cost over the phone. He arrived at our house 10 minutes later. He was kind, professional, knowledgeable, and apologetic about our situation. I'm currently a new home owner, 9 months pregnant, and a single mom to a 5 year old. On Saturday I realized I was having a plumbing issue when my toilet started gurgling and my bathtub filled up with brown, nasty water. Initially I thought it would be a relatively basic job of replacing a wax ring on a toilet.. however I discovered that flange mounted into the foundation was cracked... Apparently the contractor for the housing development son 25-30s ago cut corners installing the plumbing lines as they cemented the flange rather than installed with conventional screws... I did not have the tools or expertise to fix such dilemma so I called the number to Roto Rooter for a solution. Same day service, a great plumbing technician, Rob came out to evaluate and figure what parts would be needed and a plan for a repair. Rob is knowledgeable friendly guy who gave me good advice on the direction I should go in terms of dependable home bath remodeling. I noticed we had a damp floor in our basement. The next day I confirmed our fears that our sewer wasn't draining. I called Roto Rooter that day and they were out within a few hours. They were at my property from roughly 10am until 230 pm working on the problem. At 230 they packed up and explained to me the issue at hand and that they were unable to completely remove the blockage and what my options might be moving forward. I paid them and they left. It wasn't 30 mins later that the owner called me and talked to me about the issue and options moving forward starting with them coming back out the following day to try a different method. As promised the owner and another gentleman showed up and worked for several hours to fix the problem. They were successful and also gave me tips to possibly reduce this risk again in the future. "Roto Rooter Plumbers 03/02/2011" came to our home because of a serious backup problem that caused major flooding throughout our entire home (both main floor and basement). Ed Sullivan, our service man, came out right away, quickly fixing our problem within a matter of minutes, not only informing us as to how the problem started but as to what kind of shape our plumbing was in (which was much better than we thought). Ed was incredibly knowledgeable, courteous, and quite professional - even coming in under what was initially quoted over the phone. If we ever find ourselves in need of a plumber again, we will call Roto Rooter Plumbing and ask for Ed to come out. We have lived in our house for almost 10 years. After the first year we started having the occasional back up in our laundry room. My husband always tried "fixing" it himself, but it wasn't worth the stress, hassle and smell of store bought chemicals to clear what we thought was a clogged drain. I was very pleased w.my experience w.Roto Rooter. I called them and said I needed them there as soon as they could get there, they told me 12-2, but it could be earlier, which I said was fine. They called me back and said they could be there by 11:15, which I was very pleased about. I needed my drain snaked badly. He came in, did what he had to do in a timely fashion, answered all questions I had honestly and directly. He tried all he could to avoid any more costly procedures and when all else failed, he told me what needed to be done. He let me know my options and tips on how to deal with the situation until it could be fully resolved. I was having difficulty with my drains and my toilet downstairs kept overflowing when I would use the bathroom upstairs and my washer and dryer in my Fort Wayne home. The service was quick and easy! I rely on my sumps to be working at their prime all the time with all the water issues I have. My sump pumps run 24/7 and must always be working, and one pump couldn't keep up, so I replaced and that didn't help. I found that the pipe was clogged with iron buildup from the ground water and has clogged the discharge pipe and was why the pump couldn't keep up. It took less than an hour for the service man to snake the pipe and break the buildup free. Turned the pump on and it works great now! I explained what I had on the phone before they came out and they gave me a quote over the phone. They said the technician would give a solid quote when he came out and was the same price from what was given to me over the phone. My grandmother had been having drainage problems, so she thought that she would stay local and called another place to get her taken care of, well the first time he came it was $250 bucks and he didn't even have an electric machine, so it didn't go very far, sure enough 2 weeks later she was backed up again. She called the same guy that did the exact same thing and charged her again. 2 weeks later, backed up, which doesn't make sense considering she is the only one that lives there. So she called Roto Rooter, who have always been very kind and always got her taken care of. Sure enough they were able to come that day and with their machines got her all flushed out. Roto Rooter was able to come out the same day service was requested. Initial problem was a dishwasher leaking. While Ed was there we were able to have other issues addressed. He gave estimate and returned the next day to take care of the other issues. We needed a valve replaced on hot water heater due to a leak and very loud gurgling noted from basement plumbing. Ed was able to describe the possible problems and explained the unfamiliar drainage system that was in the basement of our newly purchased home. He gave instruction on how to care for the tank systems. He scoped the vents and drain he found there were roots at septic tank entrance and dislodged part of them with the camera and treated with root killer as problem was not severe. Technician came out even sooner than expected. I showed him 3 problems. I was leary when it appeared the faucet in kitchen didn't need anything but a clean filter, the water heater only needed the temp adjusted and the toilet although having backed up prior in the week, he didn't think needed anything as it was alright when he came. After cleaning the filter, the faucet does run better and he did snake the toilet at my request, but found nothing wrong, as he predicted. The verdict on the water heater remains, but so far he's been right on everything else so he definitely knows his business. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have a huge bill. I got my house about a month ago without any appliances. We hooked up the washer and dryer and every time the washer drained, it ALWAYS backed up into the kitchen sink but never over flowed. Well tonigjt it did, and when it over flowed it was all over our entire kitchen. We called TEN businesses to see if anybody could come right away. All 10 businesses could not come this evening, so we left a voicemail with John Lancaster. He arrived promptly, quoted $125 over the phone for his after hours charge, came to our home, found the issue and fixed it in less than half an hour and only charged me $60.
