I finally got a chance to come here with my neighbor and her toddler on a weekday and I was surprised how many kids were at the playground. However, we never felt crowded here and there are several playgrounds in the park, with one being in a slightly wooded section. Besides children's playgrounds, the park offers extensive greenways, sports facilities, and even, event spaces. Sports facilities include: baseball/softball fields, soccer field and an outdoor fitness center. On my next visit, I'm going to explore even more of the greenways and try to find the steel sculpture in the park called the "Quantum Embrace." Know before you go: 1) Lakeshore is open daily: 6 am - 10 pm 2) Plenty of parking spaces 3) There are public restrooms onsite 4) Events at the park hosted by the Roots & Revelry Group. Some events coming up are Paint & Sip (April 28th) and Mahjong in Garden (May 12th)

The Sinks is a lovely waterfall along the river. There is a small parking lot with about a dozen spaces where we found parking. An observation area is a short walk from parking. A sign describes the area and that the falls were manmade. During the late 1800's the river was used to transport logs/timber to the nearby town of Elkmont. After a storm, flood waters caused a jam in the river. Dynamite was used to restore water flow. The blast resulted in a twist in the river and creation of the waterfall. A set of stone steps leads up a hill, offering lovey views of the falls. There are dozens of waterfalls in the Park. Sinks is one of the few that is drivable, which is great for people that cannot hike. I picked up a Waterfalls map at the visitor center that I found interesting and informative. Parking passes are required to park in the lot. There are no amenities at the falls. Plan 15-30 minutes for a stop and photos.

The first reviewer described it well, and is the reason why we chose to stop here. We're enjoying the shaded picnic tables, playground, and big grassy field for kicking a soccer ball around. There's also a basketball court, volleyball net on the grass, a little "skate park" with ramps, a drinking water fountain. It was pure luck that we found it, though, because the map app sent us up a gravel road for 4 miles in the wrong direction!!! We turned around after a driving a few hundred yards and the road started to climb (and a group of guys on ATVs gave us curious looks as they drove by) and decided to drive into town in hopes of finding a shady bench, when we stumbled upon it! And just like the visitor center has a bathroom for you it has a bathroom for your dog!! When you enter the dog park you'll notice that the Park picnic tables are outside the fence line? That is probably because it is not a dog park. I have notified Google to change the name because it can be somewhat confusing especially for those people driving by on the freeway. It is much bigger and better than the Love's travel stop dog parks but it's not quite as nice as the one in Beaver at the Shell station! But when you consider what this actually is it is a very nice idea and very convenient if you come here with the right expectations. It does appear though that the visitor center does not like you to take your poop all the way out to the trash can? It seems they prefer you just drop it on the ground right by the poop bag dispenser? Weird, but I'm not from around here

No motorized vehicles are permitted on the trail. It's a great trail for exercise and stretching legs. I saw people walking their dogs on this trail as well. The only downside to this family-friendly trail was the dog poop along the edges of the trail. Not everyone picks up after their dogs even though the city provides plastic bags all along the trail at stations for disposal. In one photo, I can be seen at a disposal station with a plastic bag packed with dog poop I gladly picked up and disposed of.
