I am an employee and was on vacation in FL and visited the Gulf to Bay store in Clearwater FL. I went to make a purchase but did not have my employee discount card on my (didnt pack for vacation). The clerk said he couldnt give me the discount without my card so I pulled up our employee app to show I was truly an employee. He called the manager who said that wouldnt work because they needed the card to prove who I was..............would I really have access to the app if I wasnt an employee? Terrible customer service. If you are going to treat a fellow employee that way, how are you treating regular customers? I visited 2 other Ross Stores in the area (Largo and Country Side) and they did not have a problem using this method to verify. THINK.........and do what is right for the customer as well as the employees who are customers. read more

A kids-free weekend meant my sister and I were able to shop and browse to our hearts delight... Ross reminds me of a messier, less classy TJMaxx or Marshalls but I still like to shop here nonetheless. This Ross was definitely messy, unorganized and quite busy but we found some great items for unbelievable prices! (Dress for $15, skirt for $7, dressy blouse for $8, Easter hand towels for $6) This store was pretty crowded and the checkout line was looooooooonnnnnggggg. I have to say, I hate how tight the rows of clothing and items are... like, it's quite difficult for 2 people to even pass by each other. You literally have to exit the row to let someone by (only to then NOT receive a "Thank you.") Employees were friendly. I went into the fitting room like 4x and they didn't seem annoyed when I'd hand them a stack of clothes I didn't want. Cashier was nice and actually commented that she had been eyeing the skirt I bought. I feel like you definitely need some time to browse because there are some good items here, you just have to search! read more

Managers always rude nasty. The store is loud dirty stuff is everywhere. Nothing is in its own place. The staff there are just as rude and nasty as our store is do not go there. I brought a set of pillows got home to put them on my bed and had to take them back because someone had already returned the dirty pillows and they sold them to me. I asked them about the return policy for it and they said we don't look at the pillows so be careful when you buy pillows from therebecause people are buying pillows putting their old nasty ones in there and returning them and not thinking anything the people just take it back they don't even look at them read more

Not the cleanest store, but I found what I needed. If I was looking to browse, this is not the store where I would want to do it. I'm a clumsy person. I tend to run into door frames and trip over my own feet. When there are tons of racks strewn about the store, I can see death and dismemberment flashing before my eyes. Also, it's just not very nice looking seeing all these empty racks out and about. This didn't bother me too much, however, because I was on a mission to find an oatmeal bowl. As many friends have pointed out, yes, I do own more than one bowl, but I only owned one bowl big enough that my slow cook oatmeal doesn't bubble over in the microwave. I like to live on the edge, thus the singular big enough bowl. I recently shattered mine (my husband jokes what is all the working out good for if I can't carry a bowl) and since I eat oatmeal at least once a day, I was on the hunt for a new one. My husband stopped at Home Goods and couldn't find a bowl that fit my standards (although I question how hard he tried, but that's another story) and the bowls at Target were expensive! As we were pulling out of the Target parking lot, I spotted Ross and decided to make a quick stop. We power walked in at about 9 p.m. and there were still quite a few people shopping. Ran to the home section and I found two bowls that fit my bill! One was prettier, but it was flimsier and only said: "may get hot when microwaved". So, I'm pretty sure that means it is microwavable safe, but my husband filled me with doubts. Therefore, I ended up with the bowl I lovingly call "the pineapple" since it is yellow with a pineapple texture. The flimsier bowl was $4.99 and this bowl was $6.99 and clearly stated "microwave and dishwasher safe". It also says it is handmade in Portugal, but I question the authenticity of that statement. After my sticker shock at Target, this price was perfectly acceptable. They only had one cashier, but when the line got long they called in another. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. So, again, I wouldn't come here if I was browsing, but since I was on a mission, I rate this place A-OK. read more

I love me a good bargain, and Ross is always the one place I can count on for that rush! This particular Ross is pretty well organized, they're open until 10:30 most nights, and some nights until 11, so that gives me plenty of time to shop! However since I'm a compulsive shopper, that means I can't leave the place without spending at -least- $50. Tonight was no exception. 3 dresses, 2 shirts and several new panties later, and my wardrobe has a lovely spring flare! read more

One of the worst stores I have been to. Don't shop here. It's a complete mess and checking out is ridiculous. Only after the line was nine people deep did they call for help for the one lone cashier. After waiting in line for an extended period of time, I was called to the register only to be told I needed to get in a different line for returns; a line that was non-existent when I got in line 20 minutes earlier, instead of simply helping. The less than helpful cashier advised that I needed to go to the back of the return line even though I had been in the store and line before any of the people in that line. Luckily, the next gentleman in the return line saw everything and allowed me to get in front of the line. When I finally got to the front of the line, they said they could not return my item. I went to the Ross store three miles down the road and they had zero problems returning the item and did it with a smile. read more

Bargain hunters delight - this store is bigger than most Ross stores I've seen and well stocked. You never know what you might find- but it's always worth looking (especially on Tuesday if you're in the "over 55" age group and get that 10% discount!). Lots of kitchen items, tons of sheets, comforters, drapes, big section for kids clothes and shoes, and plenty of clothing to look through. Plus employees are always friendly and helpful read more

I love this place! I used to buy stuff from regular retails like Target and such but once I was introduced to Ross, I never buy home goods at regular prices. For home goods like cookware, furniture, bathroom and bedroom products are usually organized and easy to look. Clothing is a little bit more hassle because you have some digging to do. I usually buy cookware for 50% off and I recently bought a Betsy Johnson watch for $22 and $1 Nike shorts and $32 DC shoes for my husband. Sometimes there is a long line for checkout but it is all worth it! read more

I just spent over an hour in Ross, Tri-City Plaza, Largo, Florida and I have never felt so humiliated in my life. First I went into the kitchen section and put some items in my cart. Then I went over to the bath and body and put four bottles of liquid hand soap in the cart. Then I went to the men's section to grab a few shirts for my son. Then I spent the majority of my time picking out clothes to try on. I went to the back of the store and into the dressing room. While I was in the dressing room trying on clothes, the woman manning the dressing room came inside and told me that I had to leave because her manager told her to close it up. I was shocked!!!! Really? Throw out the customers and close it up?? No, how about do not let anyone else enter the dressing room, and then close up after everyone is finished. I got dressed and took my cart filled with my items to the front of the store and told an employee who I believe might have been the manager. I was too mad to look at her name tag! I told her what just happened and gave her my cart filled with the items I was planning on buying and told her I will not be buying anything from there!! She said that she understood! read more

This is a perfect example of see something, say something! Do not shop here! Especially if you're a woman shopping alone. I have never actually feared for my safety while shopping before today. There is a extremely overly aggressive theft prevention employee that works there. I went into this store to simply exchange a rug for another color that I had purchased for my daughter. I did not have my receipt, which I didn't think much of since I used my credit card and the tags were still attached. The the cashier was completely ok with this as well (As I would think should be) but the guy in the black vest, not so much. He actually stopped me and said "you don't have a receipt?!" So strongly that I thought he must be joking. He wasn't. I did some additional shopping, all the while keeping an eye out for that man in the black vest that made me so uncomfortable. I went to make my purchase and exchange and guess who was there..one of the most aggressive and rude people I've ever come in contact with while shopping. He stood at the counter next to me while I completed my transaction. He started making comments"What is that smell?!" "Oh it's that rug you brought in!" I said " oh no, do you guys not keep your merchandise clean?" Bc that rug has been in my bmw in a bag for a few days. He continued to make comments about myself, the rug, etc in front of several customers. I asked to speak to a manager, which may have only been the 3rd time doing in my entire life. He stood at the counter making non stop eye contact with me. I told him to please join our conversation if he had something to contribute as he was again making me extremely uncomfortable. He mouthed off in front of the manger who shook his head and told him to stop. He then called me ridiculous and walked away. As I was getting my items out of the cart, he stared at me the entire time. As I walked to my car, still in disbelief of the situation, I warned a woman walking in who actually shared a very similar story! Why is he working here? It takes a lot to frighten me. I will never enter this store again, and I hope no one else does as well until he is fired. read more

Even tho there was a very limited amount of jewelry, the quality is good and at a better price than what u would pay at Marshall's or TJMaxx. The quality of clothes is subpar but you can sift through the selection of household things and find some good finds. read more

I visited on a weekend and I love this location. I am pleased that the loss prevention agent presumed my innocence instead of presuming my guilt. If you go make time to go to Chopsticks Buffet for lunch. Lunch is only $8.59 per person Mondays to Saturdays. There is also Thai food next door, Subway, Sally Beauty Supply, Tuesday Morning, Dollar Tree, and Rainbow's nearby. I will definitely return. read more

When listening to music everything seems wonderful. Some people were glaring at me though....and you know what? There are not any specific area of the store with benches and mirrors to try shoes on. I kept getting told to get off the floor and sit all the way in the back where the metal table and chairs are. Those items are also on sale so it felt weird to sit on that chair. Meanwhile I have one shoe on and I am half hopping half walking to the other side while TRYING out shoes that are being sold at this store! They don't have a better system for this kind of merchandise?! People are a bit weird at this store. It seems like the comfort of others bothers them. If someone is daydreaming and wandering around harmlessly what business is it of you? If I am not hurting you in any physical way don't assume I'll hurt you at all! I really don't like negative vibes either but please don't think that daydreamers are evil undead creatures. God is an artist too and heaven may be a state of mind. I am working on myself constantly to think positive things. And I am on disability and poor myself! The cashier was very rude. Giving me a side glance and not wanting to look at me in the eyes then quickly saying thank you in a sarcastic tone to hurry me off to the side with a sideway glance. I just experienced some of the worst customer service. Apparently the general manager (Nichole) doesn't understand the concept of good professional customer service . I brought 2 items to return with receipt but missing the tags. I clearly showed her what items they were on the receipt yet she said she couldn't figure it out (again this is the general manager) she then said I need to go search the store to find the items so she could then figure out what they were. She was extremely rude and has zero customer service skills. I did go find the items and the girl in training was very helpful at least and credited back my return. Simple customer service tip- be kind and helpful not a rude hateful person. It's not my fault you decided to work in retail. read more

Nice store. Last time I was in here the loss prevention kid had no idea what to do except follow around attractive women and stare. Store has a lot of merchandise that it keeps well rotated. Staff is helpful which is a nice change from other locations in the area. read more

There is a reason they have the slogan 'Dress for less.' The quality of clothes at this place is crappy, no bones about it. I've never found 'designer' clothing either. On an occasion or two I've found a great pair of yoga pants or a work out shirt, but that is the extent of the clothing. They do have branded children's clothes at decent prices. You have to be careful though because I've spotted holes in the clothing where the security tag is. Now if you want a deal on a bath mat, towels, or kitchen utensils, you may be in business. The store is very clean. However, who wants to walk into the store and be greeted by a 'mall cop.' It makes me feel uncomfortable....."I'm watching you....bwah ha ha!' read more

Well, it's a Ross. Cheap designer clothes. The problem with offering these clothes for such low prices is that you attract a lot of less-than-savory individuals. Other than that, it's a great deal and you'll find all kinds of useful things in there. Just make sure you wash them before you wear them. read more

Just left and was nearly shoved out of the way for the next customer. I understand they need efficiency but to shout out instructions to customers to assist the cashier then call the next customer before you've been handed your receipt is just tacky. Nothing is in any sensible order either. If you're looking for a ross with nice selection, good atmosphere and thought out product placement this is not the one. Walked to ROSS store #0707 in Clearwater Mall to return a Healthopedic Bambo Pillow I got for my wife, she didn't want it, cashier didn't know if she should return, she called security , who said it can't because was weared....I asked fo the Manager and a really rude guy walked from the back of the store, nametag was "Javier".. then I found out he is "assistant manager"...ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE!!! his customer service was offensive, he walked away from me saying he has work to do and won't return the money, I had to called him second time and ask him "is that the service you give to customers"?...his answer was "I told told you i won't refund your money and you keep arguing with me..."I have work to do"....and walked away. This guy Javier got so angry with my request that you can literatly see his hand shaking and looking at me like its about to hit me, make customer feel like you can get assauted when you are asking for a refund, its not the right way to make feel your customers, specially those long term customers like me and my wife. Next to him was the afroamerican security who standed next to me when asking for my refund and wisper things to his ear, you can check cameras around 5:00 p.m. I am not even upset because of the refund that wasn't made, but for "gang attitude" of people are responsable to face customers, since I got the refund when I went to store #1554 Countryside,when I explained to that store manager named "Mary" about my bad experience in the other location, she made things rigth for me and refund the money to me, its great to see there are professional people working in ROSS. I gave it only 2 stars because the wait to check out is so incredibly long!!! They will only have 2 cashiers even when there are crazy long lines! Do they not realize that some people are there on their lunch hours & get really annoyed to have to wait 10-15 minutes to check out???? What's up with that?
