It's out in the country, very quiet, in a BEAUTIFUL setting....yet it's just a few minutes from Corning. My GPS did me wrong. Both times I stayed there I expected to be at a reasonable hour, but ended up with serious delays and arrived after midnight! Al was up waiting for me both times, and greeted me cheerfully, despite the late hour. THANK YOU, AL! (He even gave me a beer, which I sorely needed by then.) The rooms are glorious, with great beds and bedding, and incredibly comfortable, with private bathrooms. I'm hoping to visit Corning again this year, and will definitely stay with Al and Cathy if I can! (Cathy even had fruit infused water available in the public fridge. Just like downtown Big City, but without the price tag!)

In the bedroom is a frig, microwave, desk, closet. Down the hall is a washer and dryer. Downstairs, there is always fresh coffee, water, yogurt, eggs, etc. There is a gorgeous creek out back. We had so many places to choose to sit and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. In the winter, the home is warmed with a wood stove which makes it very homey and cozy. We are planning our visit this fall. Al and Cathy will be sure you are taken care of and always respect your privacy at the same time. Highly recommend spending time here at Country Living.

Breakfast offerings change daily and she uses the freshest ingredients; I'm super picky and every option sounded scrumptious. It was hard to choose just one! HIGHLY recommend the Gazebo room; it is a standalone room situated towards the back of the property and is very private and romantic. The decor is simple, yet elegant. It includes an oversized jet tub, spacious bedroom and bathroom and mini fridge. There is also a fireplace in the room and is stocked with lavender toiletries. My boyfriend and I appreciated the attention to detail in this room. We will absolutely be back! Madeline and Ken were happy to recommend activities and restaurants as well. There is a lot to do in the area and I cannot wait to visit in the fall. Parking off-street, wi-fi, delicious cookies and juice served in the evenings, beautiful grounds and the list goes on. If you are extra lucky, they might even serenade you. I have been here twice, and both times stayed in the room with the bath that is disconnected from the room. It is NOT a shared bath, it is just a few steps outside the room. Not a big deal at all and it's HUGE. Paradise on the Lake is a great home base when exploring the gorgeous Finger Lakes. We unexpectedly had to travel to the Scranton area 2 get married under some difficult family circumstances with my father-in-law ill at the time. I wanted to make our wedding night something special despite the fact that it was not as planned. The owner was able, on short notice, to make arrangements to have a small wedding cake in our room, and had sparkling cider ready for us when we returned from exchanging our vows. The Silo room is the honeymoon suite of this location. A multi floor Suite with Gorgeous views, the Silo Room has a separate area with couch and television, as well as a oversized bathroom with whirlpool tub. A small kitchenette with coffee or tea making supplies, a small fridge and microwave made this a mini home away from home. One of the minor but strange things about this location is the door between the bathroom and the bedroom in The Silo room only has lace. You can look directly from the toilet to the bedroom, so if you are sharing that room with someone make sure there aren't any secrets between you! Breakfast was simple fare, but fresh and plentiful. Our order was taken the night before and everything was ready when we came downstairs. We had an omelet with ham and cheese, plenty of toast and muffins, and hot tea . If you like train memorabilia, this place is the spot for you. The owner has a mind-boggling assortment of miniature trains, antiques, signs and collectibles. There are other buildings in the Red Barn Village complex, including a retro store, a market, and mini golf. We did not get a chance to experience those, and we may need to do so next time. There will definitely be a next time, the owner here cares about his customers and it shows.

The breakfasts were incredible, the "Dutch Baby" pancakes with homemade peach compote were out of this world. But then the tomato pie with poached egg and Prosciutto was pretty incredible as well. So be assured whatever they come up with for breakfast you will be extremely happy. Every morning it was fun to get to the dining room to see how beautifully Tami had set the table. Every day was a different display of beautiful flatware and dishes etc. The Inn is also a short walk from the lake, and marina. It was great to walk down and watch people launch and recover their boats, you can also rent boats and other water sport items there as well. Dining was within walking distance or short drives. Not to mention all the wonderful wineries located nearby. This is wine country after all, I didn't realize how far NY wines had come. Lots to see and do and when the day is over come back to the Inn with one of those bottles of wine , grab a glass from the selection in the hallway outside the small common area upstairs, (where early morning coffee is available), then take yourself off to the porch and enjoy the evening . Established in 1986, it was the first of its kind and easily the most impressive animal sanctuary I've ever been to. Situated in upstate New York, it's a marvelous vision, the scenery is paradise. We visited for my daughter's thirteenth birthday; this is the trip she wanted most in the world. Last time she was here, I was wearing her in an infant wrap. Five years from now, I expect she will be FS staff. Scott was our tour guide today and he is perfect at his job. He introduced us to the animal ambassadors and the mission of Farm Sanctuary's founding. My girls, their friend and myself loved interacting with the wonderful animals, learning their names, hearing about their origin stories and seeing how they've adjusted to the kindness of vegans after lives of suffering at human hands. I highly recommend anyone reading this make the trip to Farm Sanctuary someday. It's a life-affirming experience. YES : VEGAN AF YES : FAMILY FRIENDLY AF
