It had all the luxuries of a hotel (Smart TV with Netflix, coffee/tea maker, super clean, refrigerator in ou- most of our hotels didn't even have one, etc.) plus more! We were greeted by Dan who was extremely welcoming and very very helpful. He helped us plan our early airport trip and even helped us call our rental car company to arrange early drop-off. He also made us food to take with us in the morning. He then gave us all the data we needed to know about local pubs and restaurants which made it super easy for us. The place itself is super charming. But the thing that I liked is that it doesn't give off that "old and antiquated" feel. It looks like the whole place was renovated recently and that it's really well taken care of. We also were provided with snacks and water, which was a very nice touch. I told my husband that I wished we stayed here the first night we arrived because it definitely would give a fantastic first impression of Dublin/Ireland. The rooms were very nice and warm, I was lucky in that I got one of the bigger rooms but some of my friends had gotten small rooms. The beds were comfy, and room came equipped with a kettle, tea/coffee, shower gel, soup, shower caps, hairdryer and an ironing board. The only thing that I really bugged me about most hotels in Ireland is the lack of a mini fridge, which is the one thing that I really look for in hotels, and a hotel without one is just disappointing. The breakfast was not great compared to the other hotels I've stayed in in that they hardly have anything. On the self serve table, there's only fruit, bread, cereal and fruit yoghurt. You could order a hot breakfast for an extra charge though, so the very poor selection= one star deduction. There is no gym or fitness center and no elevator/ wheelchair access, so this place just gets a 3 star rating for the nice warm rooms, free but unstable Wifi and friendly staff. Otherwise they would have gotten 2 stars for facilities and food alone. Overall: A basic hotel that is cheap and sufficient for a short stay (not as long as I did!) The lady at the desk charged us 175 euro when Expedia quoted us 135 euro. She promptly changed it when we asked. Be sure to check your bill. Room are small. Tea pot and iron in room. No hair dryer - would help. Staff was pleasant. Excellent location. Our room had a double and a single bed - ok for one night with kids. Stops food at 9! Breakfast not included just FYI. Also no elevator but it's not that bad of a walk up the stairs. Overall, is say it's ok.

The hair dryer was plugged in through the drawer & took me a minute to locate but worked well. There was a Nespresso machine, lemongrass, Cedarwood shampoo & body wash, hand soap, and lotion. There was no conditioner, face towels, AC, or top sheet. The room was spacious, but the plugs are not next to the bed they are by the TV so you have to get up if you need your electronics. The vent won't turn off in the bathroom if the light is on which is annoying if you like to leave the light on. The bed was very comfortable but the doors slam every time you come in so I am sure that disturbs neighbors. Overall decent place.

Additionally, the dining room was once probably a smoker friendly area, but it still has the lingering smell of smoke and an aging carpet. Further, the people working here seemed a bit downtrodden and less friendly than the other hotels I have stayed in Ireland. I think this place would be better rated as a 3 star hotel in its current state, but with a bit more love and care, I can see this hotel being restored back to its original glory.

The good things were that the staff were all very friendly, the food at the restaurant was not too expensive and quite tasty with big portions, and the showers were nice. They also supplied basic toiletries, a kettle with coffee, tea and biscuits, and the wifi was pretty good. The negatives were that the hotel is quite old so I found the rooms to be quite cold and the carpet was a bit dirty. The cleaning staff also don't seem to hover when they clean your room, only between guests. Also, there's no mini fridge but at least there is a hair dryer and TV. The breakfast was pretty nice albeit basic. It's not a buffet so you have to order exactly what you want, but they have the usual things like eggs (poached, fried, scrambled, boiled etc. ), full Irish, cereals, fruit yoghurt etc. The coffee was also pretty good. They have a hot carvery and deli bar at lunch, and the restaurant is open for dinner until around 9pm. The hotel is quite convenient in that it's really near the shopping area and Trim castle as well as Apple green petrol station. If you drive, you can use the gym and leisure facilities at the Knightsbrook hotel for free which has a pool, gym, golf court and sauna. Otherwise, Aura leisure centre is only a 6 minute walk away and costs only 5 euro to use the gym. Overall, basic but maintains quality and standard. Rooms are around 145 euro/ night with breakfast.

It certainly isn't over-the-top and tacky, rather it is a perfect balance of functional and refined. The staff is very friendly and efficient. They attended to our every need with the courtesy and graciousness you should expect. The conservatory, where breakfast and the initial reception was held, was very warm and comfortable. Separated from the bar for privacy, but close enough to where you had access. Upstairs, the ballroom facility was fantastic. It definitely was not like similar hotels which featured "conference rooms" and passed them off as reception areas. No, this was different - a proper ballroom with a bar, wooden floors, and beautiful lighting. A private balcony for smokers and a private WC was also available. The food was tasty and filling. It was not your typical catered food, but rather was of quality and flavour. I was filled and satisfied. The rooms themselves were very nice. Comfortable bedding, nice facilities, and reasonably priced. The full Irish breakfast that came with the room was gorgeous, especially the black pudding. I can't reiterate enough how attentive the managers and serving staff were. Always polite, discreet, and eager to please. Price-wise this could not be beat. Seriously. They definitely want your business and have a proper attitude as to who the customer is. While many contemporary hotels seem to act as if they are doing you a favour and are eager to squeeze every last Euro out of you - the Castle Arch has a much more fair and respectable approach. Their prices were significantly less expensive then their contemporaries and the quality of the facilities and service were certainly higher. The savings on price will not require a sacrifice in outcome or result. I'm seriously impressed. With elegance and class they treat you, the customer, like a king. I couldn't recommend them enough for negotiating a wedding, 21st, anniversary party, or Christmas party.

The staff are very attentive and there is parking (just dont forget to get your ticket validated before you leave). The lounge has big comfy seats and is very cosy, they also do a good carvery every day (although if you are staying there I believe the food stops at about 9pm so make sure you eat before that). I had a beautiful veggy soup with brown bread for lunch there yesterday and it was light and tasty but just what I needed to fill me up. This place gets a thumbs up from me!

I booked online for ourselves and two guests, £712 for two nights for two couples. On arrival we were met by a sullen lady receptionist in the hostility rather than hospitality business. Her greeting was 100,000 welcomes short. Avoiding eye contact, she quickly drew attention that I'd only booked one guest per room. I wasn't aware, it was my mistake booking on-line so I paid the £40 shortfall for additional breakfasts to avoid challenge at breakfast but guess what, on the first morning I was embarrassed to see our guests challenged for additional money by a manager in front of other guests in the breakfast room minutes after being shown to our table. I went to reception for a senior manager but none were on duty: I said I'd return early evening for the night. No one bothered to find me - efficiency ceased at grabbing my cash. The charming, morning reception lady couldn't explain why this happened but feeding their greed didn't work. We dined in their restaurant night one; maximum priced against least effort to make - same in their cafe. It took ages for our order to come - pizzas, salads - that came soon after I enquired from a minimum wage waitress. Staff were rushed. We dined elsewhere next night. Breakfast next morning delivered the toughest saltiest 'crispy' bacon I had the displeasure to eat: solid leathery. Any chef would know they served rubbish. I prefer fish (we got fish in the two cheaper better customer focussed hotels) but not offered here so Ireland's fishery industry is unsupported. Sausages were overcooked, plum tomatoes weren't plum but round, 'free range' eggs aren't and mushrooms tasted like they were tinned. The honey isn't honey; fake from China and Mexico - rubbish. A second coffee pour isn't offered. Waitresses carrying the pot don't make eye contact so must be called. They were, but guests shouldn't have to shout for coffee. The soft water isn't filtered so coffee/tea tastes sour, again no expense spent. I'm glad I didn't ask for cappuccino. Our in room tea bags contained micro plastics. There's irony here - the hotel shop flogs Irish produce yet at breakfast no Boyne Valley or local honey nor support Irish fishing. The tomato, brown sauce and mustard pouches are cheap with chemicals added - no better quality Heinz, HP or Colman's mustard - maximum dosh from customers minimum spent on customers. Breakfast second morning was avoidably grim - remember £180 a night for two with breakfast. The brekky menu states 'eggs any way' so avoiding horrid bacon, cheap sausages I opted for omelette 2 eggs but waitress instantly said 'we don't do omelettes' I rehearsed 'eggs any way' omelette is eggs simple, easy quick. I asked for a manager, twice in 24 hours none appeared: there was one I saw him. Management had two opportunities to speak with me directly, a third would soon arise. I expect a menu re write to not do omelettes. The polite waitress returned after a good while. She unapologetically asked what omelette I wanted - our youth are often curt and don't do hospitality well. I got an overcooked plain one. So here it's seems too much effort for high paying guests: a lazy chef. Another 100,000 welcomes and one apology short. On return to our room after our second avoidably unpleasant brekky experience in 24 hours the door key card wouldn't work. The room cleaner was next door. She refused to open the door and as English isn't her first language we understood her to say she'd go to reception as she walked away. After several minutes she returned but we had misunderstood so I entered the room she was cleaning (guests had left) to phone down. It was the lady I'd raised the money grabbing incident with; here was a third missed opportunity by management. She apologised and sent up new cards taking 15 minutes when she simply could have told the cleaner to let us into our £180 a night room. I know cards malfunction but we were peeved at all the malfunctions, money grabbing and at over three score and 10 with a belly of negotiated omelette I wasn't up for trekking to reception and back. On the matter of three score and ten and male I've sympathy for plumbing and our in-room radiator came on noisily each morning. 90 minutes swishing constantly running water sounds and clunky hissing noise so much so I couldn't get back to sleep. Climbing into the bath to shower is challenging. On departure the polite morning receptionist asked if I was sorted, indicating she had escalated my complaints. She invited me to speak to a manager but it was pointless as we were leaving. There's management here but not as we know it Jim; beam me up Scotty. Caveat Emptor applies here in spades; they forget the rule customers make paydays.

They had a fan in the room and the bed was comfortable. The shower and bathroom were clean and everything worked well. The staff at breakfast and at the desk were wonderful! Very kind and helpful! Then the second night came upon us. Our tour settled in after a long day of sightseeing, eager for rest and relaxation. This is where our stay took turn for the worse. Unbeknownst to us, there was to be a wedding. I tried to fall asleep at 11:00 PM while listening to bass thumping and loud announcements like I was above a rave. This went on until 2:30 a.m. I would recommend this hotel 100%, but would make sure there isn't an event at the time of your stay.
