Had a root canal that got reinfected and set up an appt out 10 weeks due to them being busy. Took…read moreamocacillin and was told if the pain came back before my appointment to call and they would give me a different medicine for the infection. When I called back the doctor wouldn't give me the prescription. I've called 3 days in a row with no call back and the pain isnt getting better. Apparently the doctor is to busy to review my case. Avoid. Fancy technology but zero customer service.

Dr. Kohler and his Staff are wonderful!!!…read more --More detailed venting and praise to follow-- My 7 year old son had a traumatic experience with 4 other dentist when seeking treatment for an abscess tooth and cavity treatment. One dentist broke the tooth off at the root in his mouth requiring us to seek orthodontic care. Upon learning he had multiple cavities needed attention, we sought out dentist stating they offered sedation techniques. During this time frame my son started complaining about tooth pain. So I became more urgent with my searching. I contacted every dentist in the TwinCities and Surrounding area to find one that could help us. I even contacted one in Wisconsin willing to travel wherever I had to for a solution. After multiple nitrous oxide failures, IV sedation failure and dentist recommending holding him down in order to treat him; We were told that hospital dentistry was the only option for his extreme anxiety to treat his multiple cavities and other issues noted in his treatment plans. Not wanting to go that route, I started what ended up being a 6 month search for a dentist who could treat him in the office. Not only was the cost outrageous $2700 to $6000 after insurance depending on the services used, hospital suite vs. hospital, but the timing for the services ranged between 1 to 3 months. One day while driving we saw the sign for Advanced Dental Care. After doing much research and learning that they offered sedation techniques and had a CRNA (certified registered nurse anesthetist) on staff. I decided to give them a call. This was the best choice ever!!! The receptionist was very friendly and answered all my questions taking in consideration my skepticism about their sedation techniques after so many failed visits with other dentists. Instead of recommending the initial consultation to have my questions answered like the previous dentists, she took down my questions/concerns and told me that she would talk to the dentist and the nurse before having me come in. She called back promptly with the requested information and we made our appointment. I was still skeptical and upon arrival the entire staff was friendly and reassuring to both me and my son. Dr. Kohler and his assistant were very friendly and explained in detail what they could offer and how they would proceed. This put both my son and me at ease. Additionally, based on the dentist's review of the treatment recommendations by the previous dentist he was able to rule out unnecessary work, explaining his reasoning for each, which reduced the amount of work needed. We also discussed how sedation depending on type will be administered if needed. Based on this information as well as how my son responded to both the dentist and his assistant, I made the appointment for the work to be done. Before the appointment the Nurse contacted me to explain the day of events for sedation, if needed, and to answer any of my questions. This was very helpful, she was friendly, open and detailed when needed to answer all of my questions. Once we arrived for the appointment the Staff again was very friendly, greeting him by name, helping calm my son who was nervous. The Receptionist provided puzzles and coloring and talked to him about his likes/dislikes, again helping to keep his mind preoccupied. When the work was started and throughout, Dr. Kohler and his assistant were very supportive and encouraging praising him for being still and following directions. As a result of Dr. Kohler's numbing and calming techniques, he was able to complete all 4 cavities and other issues resulting in 2+ hours worth of work without the use of the other sedation techniques I initially came to him for. My son used Nitrous Oxide only with the local and was relatively calm throughout the process with the help of Dr. Kohler and his assistant. Dr. Kohler is my new favorite person:) I am so very happy that I did not give up on my search for a Dentist that both my son and I would feel comfortable with. This was a huge weight off my shoulder and I am so thankful for Dr. Kohler and his Staff!!

My exam went great. I went there due to Dr. Donald J. Clausen referring me to Dr. Vellejo…read more He was very kind to me. My only complaint is because, I've been to a Prosthodontist and a dentist, who says I don't need surgery for new dentures. As a matter of fact, I have had dentures made. The problem is, I can't wear them. That was another Medicaid paid dentist. Finally, Family Smiles told me, if I don't have the surgery, then they won't make my dentures. My state paid dental insurance, DentaQuest would not pay for my surgery. Yet that dental practice made a denture and partial, for my husband, who also, Dr. Vellejo said, needed surgery also. The day he went in for extractions, he was told he also was to have that surgery. He asked how much that would cost. He was told $588, which he, promptly, told them he couldn't pay that. Dr. Vellejo extracted his teeth anyway, and did a great job. My husband barely had any pain and healed quickly. By the way, the upper denture, were crafted for his situation. And the partial fits him perfectly. By the way that the denture dips on one side, I can tell, as a long time denture wearer, it is excellent. Why they couldn't or wouldn't do that for me, I have no idea. Something seems fishy. I'm going to another Prosthodontist, whom I will be paying to get his professional opinion as to whether I need surgery or not. I'm beginning to think that Medicaid paid dentists are not all that great as I've had some harrowing experiences with their practices. It took two years for my jaws to stop hurting, after going to one seven years ago. The dental assistant pushed down so hard on my gums, I heard and felt the pain of my jaw pop. This last one put hard reline material in my mouth, with my new dentures. It burned the whole time and it took hours to get that taste out of my mouth. A week later, and the dentures still smell like it did then. Hence, I'm going to do what I can to pay for my own dentures. I'm fed up with second grade treatment.

I booked an emergency appointment for a loose crown on my dental implant. When I scheduled, I told…read morethem I have insurance and a dental discount plan. They confirmed they accepted my insurance. Two weeks after scheduling the appointment -- and one week before the actual appointment -- they suddenly cancelled, claiming they don't accept my insurance. I offered to pay cash with my discount plan and said they didn't need to use the insurance at all. They told me that would be fraud. I asked them to escalate it to the manager -- they said they would, but the manager never contacted me. They also haven't sent any written explanation for refusing service as per my request. This is incredibly unprofessional and left me hanging during a real emergency. Do not go here.
