I live in a gated community of 115 units in Rosemont. On Monday, 1/7/20, the management company checked their messages to find one from this post office that effective that day, they are "refusing" to deliver the mail until all of our mailboxes were replaced. There was no advanced notification. Our request to make arrangements to discuss the matter were refused.
We are an HOA community. We are governed by Federal laws with regard to meetings, budget, reserve accounts, etc. The minimum cost for this repair is about $13,000.00 which was not put in this years budget as we had no knowledge this was happening. Bids are required to get this work done; the Board of Directors has to approve a bid; supplies will then have to be ordered and then the work begins. So this is going to be quite a process to complete the work. All the while residents of 115 units have to trek down to the post office, even the elderly with their walkers and wheelchairs, to HOPEFULLY retrieve their mail. I went to the post office yesterday to retrieve my Amazon delivery that was given to the USPS to deliver, notification received Monday. As you can imagine, if couldn't be found.
I have a feeling this is going to be a very bad situation for awhile AND it's tax season. What are the chances we will receive all the tax information we need to file them?!?!?!?!!
Dee S.
President, Board of Directors of said HOA
